It’s weird seeing kids called Barry.
Ffs! 😝😝😝😝😆
Are there presently any kids out there called Barry?
Who calls a baby Barry
@@sam29mill2 None.
@@user-pm5tu6qn4i Of all the names.
I was 23 that year, the music when there came on was bringing me right back to dancing with waistcoats and jeans look 😁 no mobiles etc, happier simple days
They should bring this back, this is amazing! Small chairs, small players, big entertainment!
This was so boring. So many misses in the early stages that I ended up reading comments for entertainment.
I don't mind a few misses, I found this thoroughly engrossing. Not every match has to be top level snooker to be enjoyable.
@@lapnguyen2898 They still pot more balls than everyday adult club players
@@lapnguyen2898 Oh lighten up
Stephen Maguire @ 13: "Dislikes moody people". As an adult he is well known for thumping the table hahaha
That's while playing, I don't think he's like that off the table. Lots of sports people are like that.
So glad I wasn't the only one to appreciate the irony
Bet his parents was always moody and argumentative as he grew out to be one also
He has developed in that aspect. His last tournament performance also showed that he has improved his temper.
My dad and me were playing snooker as it were and a ball jumped out of the pocket and we got thrown out because we weren't allowed to spoil the cloth. Yet Maguire here and other pros they ruin the cloth. Anyone can make a ball jump
16:08 O'Sullivan "These tables are very fast."
Haha, old times. From the start of the video I was amazed how slow the cloth is!
That was the last time Stephen was seen wearing a bow tie
Just before he got the same neck allergy that Alex Higgins suffered from :)
But he was wearing that useless piece of cloth on his face in 2020 and 2021.
@@Callatis You mean, the one that saved millions of lives?
@@seanscanlon9067 Only in your imagination.
@@user-bx4qx9kc8k You might want to look a little closer to home for that.
So each winner then gets to have an ass kicking from Ronnie? Funny format!
HAHHAHHAHHA
It's great to see professional players when they first started playing as young boys. And respect for the parents who gave their kids a chance to pursue their dreams.
Heck if my kid had talent like that who wudnt?!
I knew Martin Gould as a kid. And he was always playing pool and stuff. Great guy. Really wished my parents pushed me to do something like that. I don’t think his parents pushed him. I think it’s just what he wanted. Really happy he’s done well in snooker
@@kjbennie9245 That's the OP's exact point though, their parents gave them the opportunity to discover and nurture their talent.
How many kids out there never uncovered their talents over 101 things and not just snooker or sport, due to their lack of parental support or maybe their family's financial situation?
See Barry has always had that sparkling personality
Dislikes playing badly… well he is hardly ever happy on the table! 🤣
Looking forward to this! Please do more clips of professional players when they're still juniors if you have any more in the archives 😁 I'd love to see Judd
They need to bring this back it would encourage youth to play the game!!
42:45 "Very glum look on Barry's face... sign of a true champion..." 🤣
I had a glum look on my mug for years… I’ve never won a frame
20:20 lol cheeky Ron.
Song he is referring to is Paul Hardcastle - 19. Tune.
This is really wonderful to watch.
45:45 - they would play each other again around 20 years later in the World Final
Oh, please! If you have more of these matches, I beg you, upload them!
There on matchroom website
Drinking water, being polite, apologising when they got a fluke, wearing suits. They should be in the parks drinking cheap liquor, smashing phone boxes and smoking !
These 2 lads are great players and still are!
barry hawkings hasnt changed a bit, just less hair. lol
He looks like a mouse
yep even he is nice guy still
Even speaks in exactly the same way :)
I was thinking same for Maguire too. And Ronnie sounds like he's got bum fluff and late for class too. Haha
And flab
Barry Hawkins had charisma even then.
19 year old Ronnie O'Sullivan commenting on 13 year old Stephen MaGuire and 15 year old Barry Hawkins - 26 years later! and was that Steve Davis at the end interviewing Barry!
The commentary states its being played at Thornbury leisure centre, does anyone know if this was Thornbury in Gloucestershire?
Wow ,how slow are those tables and the response on those cushions !
16:08 Ronnie O'S. " these tables are very fast ... young players not used to the speed of this table"
It does look like it's playing slightly heavy compared to the modern tables doesn't it
Well, if you look at some Alex Higgins time footage, table in this video is indeed very fast.
hah! that maguire kid needs to enjoy a smooth cheek for as much as he can. a lifetime of stubble is right around the corner.
Thanks for this. When I was 15 I was still getting assaulted by my dad and couldn’t hold a conversation with anyone.
To be fair, that probably also has applied to some 15 year old Snooker players.
Maguire was so cute.😊😊😊
Just seen the late Paul Hunter in the opening titles - RIP 3x Masters champion
Barry Hawkins ‘Likes McDonald’s’ 😂😂
By the looks of them now, I suspect Stephen likes McDonald's more :')
Year is sometime around 1994/5.
so when was this actually taken
Pretty decent competition. 3 triple crown winners including someone with the full set and a world finalist, in the quarters!
there is just something weird that get you to love Maguire
"He's just caught the middle bump there. Now he's walking back to his seat. He's just sat down there. You can see him there sitting down in his seat. Now the other guy has played a shot. There it is. The white hit the red and now the white is safe." Ronnie O'Sullivan.
timestamp ?
An 18 yr old Ronnie... Easy to laugh, he was only a kid then.
Oliver McCall ‘well, they think they are. I mean- they constantly tell you’. Me, just now.
@@paddyross6321 The Snotket never grew up
I think these 2 lads are gunna have a bright future in the sport
Good one
@@teemuuusitalo7987 lol 😅. Wow. I guessed right
A pity you never found the time to get to the bookies....
Great player
Great post🤣👍👍👍
I saw Barry play in the b&h championship that gave a wild card to the masters back in 2000 ish in Malvern at Willy Thorne snooker club. He beat mark king and played amazing. I knew he was top draw material.
Anyone know how I can subscribe to Wire TV?
Whats the song called when Barry Hawkins walks on?
Sabrina Johnston-Peace (Brothers In Rhythm Mix)
Fantastic
o'sullivan moaning that they wouldnt let him turn pro at 15- some things never change
To think I was never as good as that, even after years of very hard work and practise....
Wow. Character never change.
Hawkins had a great cue action for a 15 year old
Nowadays is easier to see Maguire throwing a tantrum than back then
Even at that age Barry was a tight git! Wanting to make a good living over being world champion!!!! nothing ever changes except the hair styles
Anybody notice that Barry is left-handed but uses the rest right handed ? Or he did on his first rest shot while i write this.
Does he still do this as an adult?
Barry's mum was a bit of a sort
توهم بالبدايات و كانوا مهتمين لهذي اللعبه من الصغر .. الان هم أبطططااال
Those two pro at their young age did not get used to use side, so the white was not going sliding as expected
Barry Hawkins has not changed a bit.
Ronnie as kid was still whooping all the other kids (yes Ronnie was a little bit older, but there still all teens)
Was a young Ali Carter in the crowd as well
1:59 ? Ali Carter
Where can I find the final? Barry and who?
Good shout, looks like Ali Carter
Normal Misha looks pretty grumpy to me 🤣
Looks like it
Look at Steven :D :D
Is that Jim Rempe in the audience?
Why do they say Barry is from London when I understood he is from Ditton in Kent?
Stephen Maguire was born in March 1981. If he's 13 at the time of this broadcast, I guess it was originally aired in 1994 or so. Video quality looks better than that, though.
I also noticed the quality was high
52:44
They're not social distancing! Oh wait it was 25 years ago.
Pretty scary how long ago it was, i was 10 n wouldn't of dreamt of the word "lockdown"
Liked to see Shaun Murphys match
Commentary is hilarious. Sure I heard John Parrot in the background
25:55 la mesa estaba mal
34:24 Is it Walter Donaldson on the stands? Descended from heaven to perconaly look at the young talent from Scotland?
Their cue actions haven’t changed much since then
Put em in their place when i can 🙏🙏
Maguire dislikes ‘moody people’🤣
Omg!! Ronnie Commentating
He sometimes commentates on Eurosport
I’m confused, so they let Ronnie OSullivan commentate when he was 18 years old? 😂 normally they only have older retired players commentating? Very strange
Yea but those sometimes are really early,He is the GOAT,So Rich in confidence n focused,
Dats da reason he never considered Judd as a Rivals,Coz his to young for him and to reach his level it may take 1-2deceades for em to come even close,
Jonathan it’s to attract younger kids and to go with the theme of youngsters league
First time seeing Mcguire wearing a bow tie.
2:22 That kid looks like Ali Carter at around the same age!
I think it is!
Rip Paul Hunter
With all those dirty vids and mags at his disposal, Ronnie did well to spend all his time down the snooker club
Lee Spick RIP
Weird to think him and hunter are both gone
I didn’t know lee Spick had died aswell So weird to think both died so young
He was a class player but never rewlly broke through due to other issues. Rip mate.
The walk-on music was also on a different level to some of the crap players use these days.
Stephen almost looks innocent, the frown of evil was working its way wee in..
young Stephen Maguire dislikes moody people, that hasn't aged well
Peace in the valley - banger
You know which mix it is? im trying to id the intro/background track..
We were a strange bunch back then 🤣🤣🤣🤣 how times have changed eh
Disappointed with Hawkins entry music not being My Love
When we were all in eddies Lyons disco on a sat night. Stephen was in the house practising. 🤷♂️ worked didn’t it. YMT
Базар жок
Ronnie put them all in thier place while they were amateurs and kept them thier for the rest of eternity.. 😂
And still doing it 30 years later! What a career
Ah, that explains why B always looks traumatized when playing R. Lol
What year is this?
1994
Was it Allison Fisher at 22:22? Ronnie said her name but didn't look like her
Allison Fisher was 26 at the time. There's no way that's her.
@@reamick loooool
N-N-N-N-Nineteen. Nice reference, Ronnie. I think your commentary on this is spot on. And you were only...N-N-N-N-Nineteen.
Commentary is only playing on left side and I was waiting to hear Ronnie commentate only wearing the right piece of earphone.
Lol.. 😂😂🤣🤣
It was 1994, sound being mono is normal
Hawkins has morphed into a kitchen mouse
29:03 who broke wind??? muz be ronnie
What happened to the commentating i am towards end of first frame and they havent said a single word?
ronnie commentating!?!
How about Phil Hellmuth commentating poker tournaments, I wonder what would he say about, say, Mark Williams’ poker game.
Ronnie was 18 becoming 19 that year (1994) and 19 years later he would defeat Barry Hawkins in the WSC final. The black ball Barry missed that would have allowed him to defeat Ronnie likely did not weigh on his mind, as he defeated Ronnie 5-3 on their first pro encounter at the 2002 Scottish Open. Prophetic Ronnie had na-na-na-nineteen on his mind that day (17:58 and 20:20),
1994
How old was Ronnie at that time?
Didn’t call it “new kids on the cloth”??
*Why* *snooker* *players* *and* *Chess* *player* *are* *mostly* *Handsome* *and* *intelligent* *?*
Anybody who recognize the intro/background tune?
Likes: McDonalds 👍
Those pockets are HUGE
Assuming Hawkins is actually right handed based on how he held his cue with the rest? Same as Judd Trump
Ive read that Hawkins is right handed, but plays with left, its really weird... Dont know about Trump though.
It’s his eye line
Depends if he sights with his left or right eye
Like his dominant eye
I was 1 year old...
Paul Hunter RIP
What year it was played ?
