I’m admittedly bias from having grown in the same local scene as Cave In and having played shows with them, but to me this entire album is flawless 26 years later.

Such an amazing album. Stephen Brodsky has grown into a world class musician/performer too. Dudes a rockstar and no one knows him.

Cave In has a special place in my heart. They hit me like a lightning bolt with this album and the followup Jupiter when they both came out, and were almost as quickly out of my regular rotation....BUT....they also opened the doorway into a soundscape and style that became one of my favorite with bands like Dillinger Escape Plan and Between the Buried and Me.

These guys were the first metalcore band I ever heard, back before the genre even had a name. Back then I just knew it was some of the harshes, most aggressive metal I'd ever heard, while still maintaining the melodic aspects I loved about classic metal. Not long after I'd discover Killswitch Engage and many other of those early metalcore bands. Then the genre became so oversaturated and I kinda lost interest in them, but Cave In is one band that still has my respect for how much they pioneered the sound/style, though I did come to prefer their melodeath predecessors like Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, and In Flames.

Loved this song for the last 20 years but I've never really looked at the lyrics until today, apart from the obvious never had a clue what they were singing but always felt it as an inspiring song.
Saw Cave In a few months back, Nate has filled in the massive void left by Caleb perfectly. Cave In have had many directions over the years, every album is as good as the last one.
Just started listening to Mutoid Man, they're playing the UK in a few months so wanna try and get to see them.

Dis join ted - Not my wheelhouse but it seems like a compilation of 42 tracks squeezed together just because they could.
BUT props again for bringing this to us! Thx

I think you'd really dig this band. They were already (obviously) really interesting even in these very early years with lots of cool experimentation within the context of that early metalcore era, but they're one of those rare bands who evolved their sound out of a more metallic base into something more prog/psych/alternative but really successfully, in my opinion.

To me Cave-In were nothing special until they developed into their more progressive and melodic style. I guess I had already grown tired of metal core by the late 90’s
