In this video I'm reviewing the Precision Fusion X Pro Negative Contact Duo Goalkeeping Gloves. I'll take you through all the features in these gloves, and as the big long name suggests there are a lot, I'll tell you the keepers and the conditions they will suit, and hopefully help you decide if this model for you. So lets get cracking.
Right out the packet you'll see these gloves have protective plastic on the CONTACT latex. Take your time carefully removing that and you'll then have the freshest latex to work with.
Before we get into the technical specs of this glove THE first thing you will notice when you put them on is that as well as having latex on the outside there is latex on the INSIDE of the glove, right up against your palm and fingers, it's a really strange feeling if you haven't felt before, the feel is super snug, super locked in, really beefy and really protected. And that's the big theme for me with this glove.
Now if you look for all the stitching in the fingers you'll quickly see why it's what is called a NEGATIVE cut glove, meaning all the stitching is on the inside of the glove, you don’t see any of the stitching on the outside. So when you slide your fingers into this glove your fingers are sharing space with all the stitched up fabric on the inside which again ads to that snug locked in feel.
If I compare these Pro Negative Contact Duo Gloves to another glove in the range, for example the Pro Surround you'll see the difference between a NEGATIVE cut and SURROUND cut.
Looking at the latex used on the palm is 4mm high performance Contact latex…. Now there's loads of debate as to which is the best latex, but in dry conditions especially, there is really no better than CONTACT latex in terms of grip. In wet conditions they're very good too as long as you keep any excess water wiped off the surface, that's almost an instinctive thing. They're excellent
On the back of the glove, you have a half latex, half fabric construction. This windstopper fabric goes all the way to the knuckles, it saves weight, which I'll talk about in a second, but really helps in allowing you freedom of your fingers to make a fist. And that's going to really key because these of the two layers of latex on the inside and outside of the palm.
The wristband is fully elasticated, there's a pull loop to help get them on, which you might need for the first few wears, these are tight, you have the double velcro fastener sections to get the closure just right and latex in the band to give that all important grip and support to the wrist when blocking.
Popping these up on the scales they weigh in at 115 grams per glove in a size 8 and that is a lot due to this second layer of latex on the inside of the glove. Compared to the Pro Surround model they are 17 grams heavier.
So there's a little tradeoff, a few extra grams, in exchange for the extra "locked in" feel with the latex on the inside, the almost double cushion, or protection, against hard shots, and the job that extra latex does in giving structure or "stance" to the glove when I hold it up on its own, it's rock solid and has that same curvature of the fingers catching a ball.
Who will these suit? In terms of grip, CONTACT latex is used by the best keepers in the world so that'll tell that these gloves are premium in quality and technology.
In terms of fit, it is very snug, the feel is super locked in by the negative cut and inner latex, and you're super protected by the double layer of latex. If you want your hand and finger power to be helped by a glove then the Precision Fusion X Pro Negative Contact Duo Goalkeeping Gloves are for you.
So I hope that little review helps you, and I'm also reviewing every model in the Precision Goalkeeping Gloves range so if buying gloves and want to make sure you make the right choice, you'll be totally covered. I'll also do some comparison videos so when it comes to glove choices, so watch out for those too.
From me for now though best of luck and clean sheets!
