Nobuo Uematsu is a master of musical compositions! And Hollow is one of my favourite songs in any video game! This award is well deserved for all of his final fantasy music compositions!😊👍🏻🏆🎼🎶

I never cried in a boss fight before, bit Airbuster’s heroic and action packed theme did just that.

Doom Eternal would have deserved this...but bad luck, there was also Final Fantasy VII Remake this time and its 10-hour-long Soundtrack(Yes You've heard it) with ever music genre possible, quality and quantity. So Yes it is well deserved. And respect to Doom Eternal
In any other year, Doom would have easily won this award. But FF7 remake simply had one of the best scores ever. Well deserved

To everyone who says “Doom Eternal should’ve won.” Listen to the soundtrack of FFVII Remake and understand the immense variety and mastery of their tracks. Here are *SOME* of my favorites.

Should've won GOTY too. Anyhow, I wish Square Enix would restock the physical collector's edition soundtrack. Amazon unfairly cancelled mine after I preordered mine a long time ago.
Honestly couldn't decide between FF7R or Doom Eternal. Both soundtracks were bangers.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake was a banger but I still think soundtracks like Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2, Umineko, and Fire Emblem Three Houses are still some of the best soundtracks in gaming.

Square Enix always does that. They will always have the producer and higher up accept the awards. Did the same thing with Nier Automata
@@annoynymouse1146 also he didn’t conduct this score, he wrote the original but a team he personally recommended to Kitase made the tracks. So him personally accepting the award would undermind the team responsible for it’s appeal and success. It’s in the FFVII remake documentary in youtube.
I swear if they would've let last of us win this, then they might as well have let us know the whole thing is rigged. That squat song shits on the whole soundtrack in the last of us.

If a a mainline Final Fantasy comes out during the year, its pretty much a gaunrentee that it will win best Score/Music. lol. But this year...FF7R's OST is the best damn single player score since X.

@Ryder Betts listen to it daily for the past 2 years. Got me into being more intrested in music and actually researching music theory and what makes songs “good”. Also got me to be more critical about all game soundtracks, in which gaming is my biggest hobby, that’s kind of a big deal. I also tried learning piano and guitar to play some of the songs

All of the music from _Final Fantasy VII_ and its kin slap hard, and it's almost impossible to resist One Winged Angel Rebirth... but as much as I hate to say this... _Ori and the Will of the Wisps_ should have won, and if not that, _Hades._ Still, congratulations to FF7R!

Why isn't Uematsu accepting the award? Why is it always the producer etc. Same thing for Nier.
Well because Square always does it this way.
And also because Uematsu only did the theme song Hollow. It's quite telling about the quality of the ost that people do not know this.
Uematsu didn't remake the soundtrack. The only thing he did was writing the original; tracks back in 1997 and composing the "Hollow" theme that plays during the credit

For the record, FF7R was great. I haven't been able to get my hands on a PS5 yet, so I still haven't been able to enjoy Intergrade, (and staying away from the spoilers is ever more difficult,) but that FF7R expansion alone is enough to really make me look forward to getting my hands on one.

WTF FF7R is a temporary exclusive why Sony is going to help them when they go to PC and Xbox in the future, instead of helping their biggest video game of the year. FF7R won because he was the best and the original songs are composed by the one who is surely the best composer in the history of video games.

I didn't play Doom, but maybe FF VII remake was more diverse, while Doom's only focused more on one style. I dunno, personally I think it's just the best soundtrack of any FF game ever.
@@raulsouza5866 Dooms main focuses are sound track and game play final fantasy 7 is a remake its saying here's somthing you had and you like doom is unique and uses its own instrument known as the doom instrument its also has reactive music that times its self with intensity and that's even after the main guy mick got dropped and had to be mixed an implemented by another artist and its still amazing.
@@kaihowes6650 im pretty sure VII’s music was integrated with battles almost as if in sync although that could just be godlike music design, it never felt like it repeated but continued with the story and the action almost as if watching a movie rather than background music

@@kaihowes6650 I mean very little of ff7r's soundtrack is just simply remastered. The Airbuster for example while starting as pretty similar is very different to the og's boss theme. The Arsenal is a more faithful version.

Theres nothing that stooded out in my opinion and it was one of the weakest soundtracks composed by hamauzu, loosing by a longshot for shit like his amazing job at SaGa frontier 2 or Ff13's
This year doom eternal should ve won. Even more knowing that this was probably the last time we can see Mick gordon's FANTASTIC score in a doom game
Eternal’s tracks were good, but not as polished as 2016’s. Some of eternal’s tracks even pissed me off like when you fought the Doomhunter, the droning theme gave me a headache. FFVIIR’s GOD tier, from orchestral, rock, hiphop, jazz its quality and variety.

It not just fit to the insane action the game went with but also with the atmosphere when necessary like the Phobos theme
The main theme itself alreeady get the player hooked
You hot the supershotgun and then the meathook start playing as a moment of extreme hype and euphoria
2016 had a good soundtrack but it wasnt a complete banger after banger one
And ff7 remake is honestly the kind of game in which i disliked a good portion of the songs, particularly everytime aside from the wall market whenn they tried to use eletronic and it wasnt nearly as fitting for the moment as they wish it was
To make things worse this was made by hamauzu. The same dude that crafted the Marvelous soundtrack for SaGa frontier 2 and Final fantasy 13
Most tracks in the remake that really stood out when i was playing were remixes and theres lots of them.
The fact that the Ori sequel also had a fantastic soundtrack doesnt help either. It feels like Ff7's popularity got the award for it.
Its just my opinion of course, but the composition was so weak to me some quick loops here some unfitting tracks there

@@Jrdotan never has a soundtrack like FFVIIR made me tear up. From hearing Tifa’s opening notes as you enter Sector 7, to fighting a giant ass robot called Airbuster while analyzing its attack patterns to listening Jenova’s theme in its third form.
These are only 3 of dozens of memorable moments of FFVIIR. I could go on and mention Hellhouse, The Ghoul, Turks boss theme, All quiet in yhe gates, Jessie’s theme but it would be the entire soundtrack. Eternal just didn’t stand a chance.
My favorite track from Eternal is probably the one called “Doom hunted” it had a 20 second intense metal jam which I thought was awesome. Meathook is great but I can’t help but hear Bulls on Parade in the track. Super gore nest and Cultist base are great as well.
Eternal is good, but Remake is a mastery of class on its own. Probably the only decision Game Awards chose that I agree with.
I mean imagine if TLOU2 won that award?

For me the soundtrack plot and the GENIUS design for gameplay loop made eternal one of the greatest gaming experiences i had in this decade
I would put it high alongside Titanfall 2, Nier automata and Dragon quest 11 as one of the best games ive played this decade and the soundtrack has a huge impact on that experience. My favorites being Meathook, TOTTFY, Cultist base and the main theme
For hamauzu i had a strong relationship with his old soundtracks and i just havent that feeling for this one in particular
Its 2020 and i still listen to Rosenkranz or the amazing Unlimited Saga battle theme but if you loved the remake and its soundtrack all the power for you, i cant disagree i enjoyed the game as well
