I've always wondered if "Bunco Rules" was named after:
A - the rules for a game called Bunco
B - a guy named Bunco, who is very likable
C - a guy named Bunco, who is in a position of power
It is one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
I know the answer but I'll have to consult the elder cavies to see if the truth can be uttered.
Bunco is the nickname of Pat McGowan, author of “Bunco Rules”. It was a bit of a collaboration of a few in the line but is largely attributed to Bunco.
Scott is correct
@@SgtHulka95 That solves one mystery, but is he very likable or in a position of power? Or is this cadence outline Bunco's rules to follow, like tap-offs should always have a herta in it
@@mattdhurley Bunco is both very likable, and being the author and quad section leader, was in a position of power. The "rules" definition can be interpreted in a "presiding over" context but quite simply means Bunco is awesome.
Marched Cavies in 1998 it was always a joy to watch the other corps try to keep their feet together during Bunco retreats.
Bless you sir
Brilliant
Born way too late. I always loved watching the line play this when I was in middle school. By the time I marched this one was a forgotten relic. I remember it was in the back of our binder but no one ever mentioned it and we never learned it. I learned my part just cuz I liked the cadence so much as a kid.
OH MY GOT!!!!! I’ve been lokkkng for something like this for years. Never developed the chips to get all the way through it so props to you bro. THANK YOU!!!!
Really a cool tribute to the 90s - 00s Cavies era, nicely done!
As a Cavalier who’s going to USMC Boot Camp this summer, all these vids with our stuff being featured makes my heart happy💚💚💚
CZcams moment
Good luck to you!!!

Splooie
Proud to say I get the opportunity to learn this for the summer!⚙️💚⚙️🌹
Wow! Very Amazing ! these is the kind of Drum combination and Accompaniment of different Drums with Organized Notations....i Need these video......
GO!.. .....BIGGGGG!... ...MAAAAAAAAAKKKK!!!!!!!!!!
McGavock High School,
Nashville, TN
My favorite cadence
You show play the parts to the university of Michigan drum cadence “x”
That's some bold writing at 0:55
Even when you nail it, it sounds like your bassline is falling apart
Try to find the original cavies version, it's actually tits and more readable with their bass tuning.
As someone who had to march to this, as a Cavalier, that’s exactly how it’s supposed to feel. It was so funny watching other corps trying to keep in step, you wold just keep going, in tempo, eventually the rim clicks would line back up, it was crazy! 😂
FFM ‘99-‘01
Hey Matt. I marched in 1999. Hope your doing well! And yes I miss this cadence even though I was in the brass line
I watch this daily
I forgot I had my speed on 1.25x from another video, and I was convinced for 2/3 of the vid that EMC had suddenly become God
That is quite a bit spiced up from the 90's version I had and learned in college. My copy also called the "Vertical Pounding" section "OJ Stabs"
I’m in hs and and my tenor friend are learning the 07 one it’s why harder than this version this version is watered down a bit as far as cops my director was a cavalier back in like the really early 90’s he marched bass but he mostly plays the snare version (I play snare btw)
EMC rules!
Sick.
Awesome!
Play Jersey. Most iconic ever
1. my mom used to play bunco through out my child hood. it was a good time going to different people's houses and us kids getting loose.
2. i used to be the best on the line but never was at your skill level. watching your level always chokes me up in a good way. talent often literally makes me cry. thank you for having the energy to see this project through and sharing it. you are a badass motha fucka and i hope a girl doesn't rip your heart out and shit on it some day. cause that would suck. bad.
Ahh, brings back such great memories
All this time my ear wanted that tag to start on beat 3.
Sick!
Bro that’s the our drums in our school
Thank you for doing multiple takes, it sounds so much better now
2:30
can you play all of reds rhumba?
It would be cool to do a “Best Street Beat.” Cadets, Madison, SVC and all the parts recreated.
When all the drums are recorded instead of green screen it makes the snares sound better, TASTY BEATS🙃
Good morning! This is video number 58 of me asking Eric to make a set of tenors out of differently sized or tuned snare drums.
I second this.
I third.
I fourth
I fourth this
I fifth this
Amazing cadence first heard when pirating cadences off Napster, Kazaa, Limewire, and Morpheus lol
Same lol
What brand of Vibraslap should I get for my birthday?
Oh, I LOVE THIS. This is the best cadence I've heard for some time! It's clean and its hot.
I also like you used a variety of drums to show you really are compositing separate recordings together instead of digitally duplicating yourself.
I am once again asking you do SCV Double Beat 2004
Perhaps my favorite cadence ever. Super tasty. Great grooves. Quads play a melody. Always funny how many variations of a chart there are. I learned both snare and quad parts back in the day and both very similar to this but slightly different stickings and drums in bars here and there. Total classic.
555 likes babyyyy!
Can u try top secrets pls
The worst thing about EMC's playing is that on tenors he always plays in the center of the head and on snare he never plays in the center of the head.
Ah! Measure 20, Beats 1 and 2 is a diddle egg 5. Take it down and redo it!
Na, good stuff though, haven’t heard Bunco Rules in a while.
I like the Terminator 2 tag. We used in a drum solo back in 92.
can you do one for RCC Tweeter??
This is called "Sperm of the Momemt" I have sheet music from the mid-90s of it
Can confirm, that was indeed the original name. Based on the Dave Weckl tune “Spur of the Moment” sound supplement in Modern Drummer Magazine.
Fun fact: The original snare part was labeled as “shitcans”.
It's a legendary origin story. Bunco is one of a kind....
do you do any online lessons?
Can you do another drama in the drum line?
Man this takes me back to 98' when I first heard this and was inspired to join dci. Nice job!!
Bunco has always been one of my favorites. This is great!
Gosh those snares sound crisp!
Played this in high school, great memories!
this is my teenage years
Those basses sound sic😮
It's so refreshing to see drummers keeping with conventional grip. Most young drummers today can only play match grip, conventional grip is to clumsy and awkward for them to handle.
Always love your content! - Cavaliers FMM '04
Wait who dis? :-)
@@CavieJeff "Sarge" 😅
Awesome
Awesome! Man that brought back memories. Thanks!
Always to fun to hear an awesome cadence :)
It's definitely one of my favorite cadences of all time. Great job buddy! 🥁
❤OMG! Not a dump clip!
Amazingly well done 👍
Using the different colored snares makes it that much more impressive just because you know for sure it required that many takes.
that's what consistency is made for. :)
@@npittman82 it's also pretty handy for concrete mixing and electrical circuits. Probably throw spelling and math in there too cause if that was always changing up on the hour, ya know, that would be tiring to keep up with
This is surprisingly similar to something I played in "all-star drumline" when I was in high school. The director acted like he wrote it himself. More like watered it down a bit. Haha!
I love your videos!
Tenors be wildin’
Keep doing more 90’s cadences
I love this BTW but I also live beating you in a thumb wrestle
bet you couldn't beat him in an arm wrestle though
@scorp yeah someone said that same thing lol
Ive been trying to learn quads for a while, now, I play bass drum so Im not a complete beginner but im wondering if you have any tips?
wtf my college used to play this
can i have a drum key
Can you please learn Avenged Sevenfold-Blinded in Chains the fill in that starts at 2:49 ?
Can you make drums out of coconuts?
Love that you are using all of the new Mapex Drums. Mapex drums are great, and they sound so unique compared to brands like Pearl, Yamaha, Tama, Dynasty and more. Love the drums!
Cascades is using all new Mapex this year and im super pumped. They arnt my fav brand, but its gonna be super fun to hackin in fresh drums
Yeah it’s cool that Eric is endorsed by Mapex
We were JUST trying to play this during a hang the other day. #hereforthesheets
I can guarantee my transcription is at least 69% accurate.
@@EMCproductions The MAN’S number!
Good morning! The only egregious error I care about is the lack of a diddle-egg-five on the downbeat of measure 20.
Sounds sick I could never 😂
Damn, love this old school jam! Do g13 next!
Bunco Rules rules
This cadence has changed through the years. Which version is this?
I'd love to see you tackle some of the music by Tool. Not so much a cover, but adding your work as another instrument.
Their music is so poly-rhythmic and heavily textured. I'm interested to hear how it would sound adding your rhythms and textures to that music. :)
A friend of mine did a cover of Tool - Schism on timpani back in the day. Super bad ass.
@@npittman82 I find Danny's approach to drums so musical. He adds so much texture to the music, beyond his amazing polyrhythms. That musical approach (I think) lends itself to translation to other rhythmic instruments. That timpani rendition sounds like it would have been amazing :)
Salve do Brasil meu amigo!
Que som limpo irmão
Came for the cadence.... stayed for the shorts with black socks! Pulled it off man.
You know when you're making the stank face 2 measures in that this is about to be a good video
Hey do you have a video ranking all the signature model snare sticks?
Only 7 new snares! 😅
Emc is god
That was epic
This is a very good Video! Seeing these Mapex drums makes me want to buy them since you’re playing on them! #notsponsered
I wish our 170 person competitive band could afford new drums. Ours are pushing 16 years.
What sticks do you use for snare and tenors sometimes it looks like an EMC signiture Vic firth stick I can’t tell but fr tho I wanna know
Vic Firth MS2's with my name on them
Ok.
Is this the start of a new "Legendary Cadence" series?
I hope
WOOOOOOO
How long did this take you to produce?
The new snares sound great. The new tenor's look bigger than the old ones or is that just camera angle? Bunco Rules!
I believe the camo tenors are shallow cut and the new tenors are deep cut, though the diameters are all the same.
@@SilverBordered They look heavy.
Drums
Or, how about your take on Frank Zappa's Black Page:
czcams.com/video/CmV3Bf2veAg/video.html
When I marched our street beat was Zappa's Zombey Woof. Check it out
Ahhwwww… more #nostalgia… I still believe you should redo “Iowa” and add the crowd clapping in the background…
And here’s an idea… let’s do more than just cadence, let’s try and recreate entire books… like say : BD 2003 Phenomenon of Cool… or Cavies 007, or An book and show that was in a a class of its own… 2018 Santa Clara Vanguard’s Babylon… 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Video 5 of requesting a mickey mouse clubhouse cadence
Who the hell puts random 5/4 measures in a marching cadence? I hated trying to march into a retreat to Cavies or Cadets cadence. Cadets was always a pain because they are on the wrong foot and Cavies always sucked because it just randomly changed time signature. IOur cadence (G11) was groovy easy marching the entire time. RIP Glassmen.
Two 5/4 bars puts you back on the left foot. It's all good.
Early!
Hi
First, also CHOPS
Nah I was first.
