One thing I always walk away with, watching these videos is, Mr. Peters seems to streamline his processes and the planning and organization. This is something I strive to do better but find myself wasting time for some reason or another. But the way the steps are laid out and the explanations on what he’s doing is concise, to the point and spoken in simple, easy to understand talking points. I think the work speaks for itself. While I haven’t built anything from his videos, no doubt I have learned a lot from watching them. That’s when I know the teacher has videos worthy of my time. I can learn and implement something I am Working on - regardless what it is! It’s never about the project but the ideas that come from it. Thank you Mr Peters!
Thank you!
God that is gorgeous. I kept pausing the video just to look at it. Who says simple can't be stunning?
This table is a piece of art. Thanks Jon for sharing and greetings from Colombia.
In case people wonder, it is Sapele wood for the counter top. John mentioned it at the end of the video. :)
Looks too nice for outside. Love it ❤️
That is so beautiful!! Your family is lucky to have someone like you to create such beautiful heirlooms for them! Great video!
Thank you Jon for being such an inspiration to many of us woodworkers. Always a treat to see you work.
I think that is incredibly forward thinking on this table. You didn't just make plans for the table, you're planning memories. Also, the table is gorgeous.
I love the simplicity of the looks of this table, truly timeless.
Absolutely beautiful table ,true craftsmanship.
Beautiful table made for many memories!
Very nice, thanks for sharing this with us.
Thank you for all your videos on the DIY woodworking I appreciate you doing them as well as making the plans available for us for free, love your work and how detail you explain everything, you're one of the few that actually make furniture on your videos because a lot the other DIYs woodworkers only make tools for their tool thank so much
Wow, what a gorgeous table! All of your projects are so elegant and the quality of the work is outstanding. I can’t to see what you build next .
This a beautiful table, i dont know much about crafting stuff, but i really enjoy watching people making stuff by their hand, good job jon keep it up.
Jon, I've been following you for years and you never cease to amaze me with your projects. Now that I'm retired and am building my own shop. This is going to be another "must-do" project on my list. The only problem I see is I have 2 granddaughters and each will want her own. A nice problem to have. Keep up the stellar work and know that there are those of us in Michigan who marvel at the simplicity and beauty of your work.
Thanks Michael , sounds like you’ll need to make two:)
High quality with simple processes as always. Thanks for the videos John.
Looks great Jon! The paint job looks flawless and I totally agree a table has a special place in/ with every home/family. Which is why I dont mind spending a few hundred bucks on lumber for it.
This is a gorgeous piece of furniture! I love the top! What a beautiful species of wood!
Jon, once again you did an exceptional job with the table.
Beautiful table. Sapele is a beautiful wood. Reminds me of Mahogany which I love working with. Thanks for great videos.
Just love the style and finish of that table! That is truly a timeless piece that will be enjoyed by the family for years! Great job Jon!
Joe
Thanks Joe
Very nice your will love it and your daughter great work as normal
Jon, Once again, a really terrific video. Great project, thoroughly explained during the process. Particular attention to detail in the beaded edging on the skirt and the drip edge on the bottom surface. I love the sapele wood and the finish you chose really gives a WOW! factor to the project. Keep the projects coming.

Got inspired to build something yesterday after seeing this video. While walking outside a stepped on a rod of rebar and it went through my foot. How’s your day
Oh man! That’s tough sorry to hear it

Beautiful table and a great video!
I have been looking for a recommended lumber yard in N.J., that place isn’t too far from me, I’ll have to check them out! Thank you!
Best master
I am from Saudi Arabia . I really enjoy the video . I learned a lot from you. I have a problem with paint. I do not know how many steps to paint. I want to learn the way paint and steps. & thanks
Thank you, I have a video about painting this table base.... try searching the videos on my channel and that video will help.
Your awesome
...seus trabalhos são tão perfeitos que fico traumatizado e deprimido pelo fato qurer tentar fazer um tralho desse jeito com essas ferramentas e máquinas e não possuir as máquinas, ferramentas e nem o seu talento!
You oughta talk about using the molding knife on your saw. I’m really interested in seeing how that might work with a variety of knives.
Thanks, will do I’ll try to post a short video soon
Hi, Jon. This comment is to provide you with information you requested about gluing ipe in your recent miter saw fence video. Gary Moore’s comment, my reply thereto, and at least one other comment provide the information you are looking for. Acetone - thoroughly clean the areas to be glued with acetone and you can glue with Titebond 3 or other waterproof PVA glue.
I hope this helps.
Jon, would it be too much to say-you’re the 21st century Norm Abrams? Cable are you listening!
Aruga I agree! 😀👍
Yep he deserve tv show
Couldn't agree more
Ive missed You
Great video. What kind of router bit did you use with your router jig?
Great job and beautiful table.
Please tell us what type of wood used for the table top.
The top is Sepele wood
Very nice table Jon! One question I have is why you chose Sapele for the stretchers and then paint them? Seems like another type of wood would have worked there? Thank you
Thanks, well just a very strong wood and great for exterior use. I’m thinking about making a short video talking about the wood choice because I know people hate to see sepele painted
Thank you for your reply Jon. I recently completed a Sapele farm house table for a friend of ours. I too love the wood and enjoy working with it.
Wonderful job! Why this particular wood for the top? Thanks.
Very dense and a good wood for exterior use
Hey Jon, awesome video as usual! Couldn't help but notice while you were using the belt sander on the table top, your drum sander was in the background of the shot. Was is not appropriate to run a panel this size through the drum sander / was a hand belt sander your preference in this situation for any particular reason? Thanks!
Thank you, I guess I could have because my sander is a 16 32 but I just felt like the top was a bit heavy and hard to handle
Love the table, great job. Do you buy your lumber completely milled or do you mill it yourself other than just squaring one edge?
I almost always buy lumber s4s
What kind of router bit did you use for the tenon?
Table looks great! How thick is the top?
Thanks Josh 5/4
I don't have a moulding cutter. Could I just use my router to do a round-over on the edge, and my table saw to cut a groove to get a similar look? Or would you recommend something else?
Sure you could use a router in sure it will look fine
Jon what kind of oil finish do you recommend on oak or walnut if I want to bring out just the natural wood?
Well this was a different finish for outdoor use ... for fine furniture builds I use Water Lox or lacquer
Jon, great table! Sorry if this has been asked before, what brand and model of biscuit joiner are you using? I'm in the market for one and would love to get your opinion.
The one I’m using is a triton and I don’t like it... I’m thinking about getting a new one probably Dewalt
@@JonPetersArtHome thanks for getting back to me Jon. That's the one I'm looking at.
Hey Jon, I’ve a quick question. When staining a table, do you do one side then let that side dry and then flip it to stain the underside? Or do you stain them at the same time? I’m about to stain a table top and I haven’t done it before! Thanks.
I use wood blocks with screws in the center, the work piece rest on the point of the screw ... finish the bottom first
how do you make legs like that?
Nice build, Jon. Is the Ipe oil a food safe finish or is it not a concern?
Thanks Bruce, not sure but should be fine
Hope this isn't a second asked question - can you list what brand or a link to the mould/bead cutter for your table saw? Thanks
Hi Nathan, I’ll post a short video with more detail in a few days
Jon, who milled the sapele boards for the table top? Did you have them do it at the lumber yard?
I buy it at Monteath Lumber milled s4s
Jon, love this build.... How does it look 2 years out? Would love a quick update via Insta or Tiktok perhaps. Be well!
Thanks Patrick, actually the top is in pretty rough shape... I need to replace it in the spring
👍👍👍😉
table looks great Jon, just be careful that one of your niece's or nephew's tries to claim that table for themselves :)
Ha ha :) you said it
I love the way this came out, but I really feel like putting paint on sapele is like putting a beautiful woman in a burka.
I was wondering about that too. Sapelle is such a beautiful wood, why hide it under paint? I would have used poplar for the rails.
darryl reynolds he said in a previous video that the table is going to be outside and poplar is not a wise choice for exterior
Stopped watching as soon as I saw that mortise machine, don't have one
Make it with Pocket hole screws, that’s how I built last project on my channel. Works great 👍
Beautiful table!
