This is one of the best comparison videos I've seen. It's easy to see that both pedals are excellent quality. It's just some playing styles are suited to analog and others to digital. If you want to play a rhythm pattern that uses the delay time precisely, the digital is much better suited to that, but when you throw some overdrive on and go for a certain atmosphere, the analog is great.

The Echobrain is much warmer and more natural to my ears, even the overdriven sound is that much better too.
Would like to compare the echo brain to the Carl Martin Red delay, see how it fairs there.

For the price point and a quite specific range of use the Echobrain is great.

Interestingly the Echobrain has an actual analog sound, the Flashback does NOT sound analog at all, it is too bright and clean, like another 2290 flavour, I own the Flashblack and it's going, one thing I learned with age, I need fewer great sounds, not like a million ok ones
What delay pedal did u end up getting or would you recommend ? I own 2 FBs and not entirely happy with them.

The digital delay, repeats the same sound over and over again; the analog delay does it but it degrades it electronically, and it gives that sensation of modulation

Echo brain for me
To keep things simple and cheap, I would get the Echo brain.
To my ears it sounds like Echobrain's effects become more of an organic part of the signal. The Flashback is more noticeable.

Seems to me that these cheaper pedals sound great. Sky Surfer and an Echobrain will run you $80 new. Pretty great value!

Echobrain sounds a bit more muddy and low. Flashback more crystal and clean. I personally prefer the crystal sound more.
yeah, but sounding crystal is exactly what analog delay is NOT about, I own the flashback, but always felt the analog mode sounds too much like the digital 2290, which is the kind of crystal clean sound you like
