    you dont have to use tape, there are screw holes on the drive. you need to remove the screws from the old harddisk and put them on the new one, so it can be put in with the original bracket.

    It worked! Thanks.
    I bought my wife a new MacBook for Christmas since her old one ran sooooo slooooow. I thought to my self, what am I going to do with this paperweight (old Mac). After viewing this video I said to myself what do I have to loose. I am not a techno geeek and was a little intimidated at the prospect of ripping open her old Mac. After viewing your video and few others I ordered the parts (8 Gig of Ram, new battery and solid state hard drive).
    I only wish I had done this before I ordered the new Mac. These upgrades breathed new life and it runs (almost) like her new one. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    there is an upgrades which it could run on MacOS High Sierra, the latest and final upgrades for this devices models. It began from the late 2009 with 8GB, then to the mid 2010 with 16GB, and also the 2011 models with the same 16GB of ram. it had its own mounted screws for stability of the HDD and upgrades to the SSD for better performances and apps.

    Thanks for making and sharing this helpful video. I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2010. I used to use Final Cut Pro and it was working fine but now it’s very slow even though I don’t use any heavy software on it. I actually haven’t used it for some time now.
    Could you suggest me a software or tool to check the issues please?
    I also would like to upgrade it, so could you suggest me what part I can upgrade and what maximum capacity I should get for those parts? Thanks in advance.

      sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ High\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/NameofyourUSB ... If your Mac is using macOS Sierra or earlier, include the --applicationpath argument and installer path. There ya go buddy.

    With a core 2 duo MacBook Pro 13' inch couldn't you also upgrade to a 16gb ram?

    What if you’re still logged in with your Apple-ID on the old HDD? Is that a problem?

    • @TheUndefinedGhost
      @TheUndefinedGhost Před 3 lety

      No, being logged in is server side not tied to the hard drive.
