    Mahalo! Excellent video! We stayed at Aulani the first week of September. Wonderful weather and it was an easy drive to all the other parts of the island for excursions (Turtle Bay, Kualoa Ranch, Diamond Head). One additional highlight for us was the margarita flight at Mekiko, across from Monkey Pod. Thanks again for your great videos! Really helped us plan.

    Summer 2022 was my first trip to Hawaii and we stayed at Aulani. It was amazing and a great place for families. Took a walk to some tide pools which is my favorite and overall had the best time. Aulani has a resort reef that you can snorkel in and it was so awesome. It was a great place to snorkel for the very first time. 10/10 would recommend and absolutely go back!

    I own at Marriott’s Ko Olina Beach Club, and as a correction they go from studios to 3 bedroom villas, not 2. Been coming back (used to live on Oahu) since 2006; bought there in 2008. We love the resort and being away from Waikiki; the restaurants have really upped their game! Last year, had wonderful food at Longhi’s, and even Longboards is now good (years past I refused to eat their food; it was really bad).

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  Před rokem

      thanks for the correction! You bought a nice place. They have done a good job of keeping it updated. It has aged well. And yes, the restaurants are so much better. When we lived there it wasn't Longboards but another name, like Menehene's but that wasn't it...

    Hello, my family and I have been watching a few of your videos for sometime and this video convinced us to chose Marriott Ko Olina for our vacation in January 2023. Thank you!
    Could you comment on homeless and crime awareness in Oahu so we are prepared? Upon doing some research, it appears there are some homeless and crime concerns primarily along the western side of Oahu from reviews of places along the coast from Ko Olina to North Shore. Thank you again for your time!

    • @TheHawaiiVacationGuide
      @TheHawaiiVacationGuide  Před rokem

      Aloha Jeffrey, the Waianae Coast is a community area and there isn't visitor places to visit. Go there if driving to the harbor for a snorkel or scuba tour but we the locals there like their privacy. Waikiki is working on improving support for the homeless. They are there but we have never been bothered by their presence.

    Thanks for this video. Planning a trip for 2024 and doing my research now. I think I'm settling for the Marriott. Love Disney but the kids and I are only interested if it's a theme park. Any thoughts in luaus? I definitely want to do one but I have a VERY picky eater.

      good choice, we like the Marriott also. Here are reviews on our 4 favorite luaus: thehawaiivacationguide.com/activities/oahu-luau-reviews/
      Chief's is a good one near Ko Olina, at the water park. The food isn't the best but the fire knife show is the best.

    Hey thanks for everything you guys do for us! With shark attacks being an unfortunate reality, I just wanted to bring to light that there are tested and proven shark repellent bracelets, like shark off and sharkbanz. I don't see anyone talking about these on vacation planning channels. These are things that would need to be purchased before your trip so people would need to know in advance. Maybe you guys could partner with shark off for a video :) not sure if that would be too much of a negative topic lol just a thought.
    Thanks again

  • @bubbalo3388
    @bubbalo3388 Před rokem +1

    Aulani is really expensive compared to the Marriott. I priced them out once for a two bedroom villa and the Disney was like almost double and didn't provide a full kitchen at the time. The difference in cost could of been used for another family vacation or extended stay somewhere else.
    The Disney pools didn't have much space for lounging around the pools or any onsite open areas to relax. You would have to exit the property to go to the lagoons for open space. Well, the lagoon in front of Aulani is packed with their beach chairs so you would probably need to walk down to one of the other lagoons if you don't want to stare at the back of beach chairs.
    Marriott was at the end where there are two lagoons and a park so it's almost like Marriot has them to themselves. Marriott has like 5 pools spread out. One has a slide and tunnel for playing, another more for grown ups, another for just whatever, another for quiet and relaxation and another shallow kiddie pool.
    Lastly, Marriott has a large lawn area within the property to play or spread out if you don't want to go in the sand.
    You want a Disney experience? Go to the Marriott and use the money you save to take another vacation to Disneyland or Disneyworld. A two for one.

      You said it better than we could.

    • @matthewwiemken7293
      @matthewwiemken7293 Před rokem +1

      Aulani is best if you have a DVC membership. You pay far less, get complementary parking and if you rent an EV, complementary charging:)

    • @bubbalo3388
      @bubbalo3388 Před rokem +1

      @@matthewwiemken7293 that's the thing. You would need a membership with Aulani to get close to the price of Marriott without out a membership. If you got a membership with Marriott it would make it cheaper than with Aulani still. Also with Marriott you own the membership for life and pass it down to your children unlike Aulani where you only own it for 20 years. Both offer like a points system where you can use the points for stays at other places or use them for like airline tickets cruises for example but it may not be the best way to use them that way. For example Marriott you are given a week stay at a Marriott resort with a 2 bedroom villa but if you opted to convert them to points to stay somewhere that did not offer a resort but had a hotel that was on their list of hotels you can use points for you may actually get less than a week stay in a standard hotel type room. So you really have to learn how everything works and be creative on when and where you travel to maximize what you paid for. On that same note though you can actually get more than a week in the same size accommodations you own if they have resorts in an area where you want to go and it's the off season. Not sure of Disney operates like this exactly but you get the idea. Now don't hold me 100% to what I mentioned as one would need to research the details for themselves. This is what I heard and did a little digging on for myself.
      Timeshares are not for most people. Lot of people get suckered into them and it all sounds amazing when they salespeople make it seem so amazing and such a great value they are. There is a reason they say you need to purchase now and that they cannot offer you the deal if you decline and walk out and change your mind.
      Timeshares are not your vacation dreams come true for most people. But that's a whole other topic
