- Here I fit the Unifilter kit including an oiled foam filter, prefilter, pre-prefilter and airbox seal. Im not saying this is the right order to do it, but it worked for me... even if it took more than an hour.

Man this is the look on my face when I tried to fit the air filter before I watched your video, thanks bro it was a life saver and you can never be too hairy
Lol... the testosterone has to go somewhere right?
Glad it helped Mad Mitch!
Thanks for the great video. It really helped me in changing out the original filter when I bought the bike.
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Thanks for this helpful video. Made the task much easier.
Great video! Thanks for choosing our product!
And several thousand km later the kit is going strong. Thank YOU for providing a well thought out kit for a great price.

Thanks mate. It is a great bike.
Amazing!!
Fricken billion litre tank dat ting is HUGE
Man, that is crazy how much hardware you have to pull just to access your airbox! Sweet looking machine though :)
jeez seeing this makes me glad to work on my 1985 Honda,... jjust 2 bolts, slide the gas tank back and ta da done
Holy carp, that's a lot of screwage!
Hmm, Taking out tube filter & pre filter with after market exhaust & ECU mapping, 10-15 extra HP?
Mate,
how are you finding the 1190 Adv R ?
i am looking at getting this bike...so any input would be good.
Any noticeable change in induction sound?
Hi Nerb - Awesome video. Just wondering how you undid the clip at 2:06? I don't want to pull too hard or break with pliers - is there a clip release of some kind?
Yes, the black side of the clip has a small lever on one side that depresses. The plug is still pretty stiff and wont come apart too easily.
holy crap thats alot of work just to change air filter. dont even have to turn a screw on my husaberg.
Awesome, I just buy one for my 1290 SA T. You notice any drop in performance with this air filter?
No I didnt... but honestly, can anyone notice the difference between 148hp and 145hp?
140, 150, 160... pfft, who knows? What I do know is that it sounds awesome and 600cc super-sport riders get nasty surprises. How did you enjoy your test ride? I'm going to watch your video after dinner.
OK nerb used a bit of common sense and all is fine. Finished! Awesome help from your video - Big thumbs up.
KTM bros unite! ;D Nerb1!!!
HA! So yours grows on your arms instead of the head now does it old man?
That's my problem with modern motorcycles: most of the work comes with unscrewing all of the damed fairings and other body components. Then you can actually get some work done on the damned things! The worst offender was my old Kawasaki Concours 14 (GTR1400 for everybody else). Pulling the fairings was an hour and a half affair of unscrewing panels, and making sure everything was kept organized. It really sucked.
This is the exact reason why I got an electric screw driver.
The induction sound didnt really change. The unifilter is not really a more free flowing airfilter, but is more a guarantee to stop crap getting in the airbox. KTM's original setup was a bit ordinary.
+Nerb1, have you heard about (or tried) a K&N .., I saw on the new 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure webpage they have an offroad airfilter upgrade and it looks like a K&N ? .., as it is that maroon colour.
These bikes are that gutsy anyway (esp the new 1290 SA) , who anyway is going to miss a few horsies on these bikes just to ensure the bikes properly protected from getting crap in the engine.
How often do you clean and oil the filter?
If I am riding around town I wont touch it, but every time I return from an offroad trip I clean it. In 30,000km I have cleaned it maybe 10 or 12 times. Sometimes it was still clean, sometimes it was black with dirt. That is one problem with this bike... its impossible to tell until you have opened everything up!
I want to purchase this filter bc i heard the ktm 1190 adv r has a factory filter problem. But i read in a comment below that for the 2014 they made some changes in the filter. Does that mean they fixed the problem? Thank you
They stiffened the air box on the 2014 model to prevent warp under load. They beleive they have fixed the main problem but honestly, I would still get this kit. Foam filters are serviceable and wont be damaged by a splash of water like the paper one could. Plus you get the intake socks.
Nerb1 Thank you for your replay. Can i get this filter in the US?
yes. Unifilter ship to anywhere. Theyre at www.uniflow.com.au/contents/en-us/d321.html
Actually, they are selling them through Touratech!
Would this filter work on a ktm 1190 adventure
Yes it does. They are exactly the same. But, the 2014 model has a new stiffening beam across the airbox that stops the filter working (I have heard on the grapevine) so if you have a 2014 model, you might have to wait and see what unifilter does.
Ok thanks
any mapping needed ? i see its a stage 2 kit on their web site
I never mapped mine (I dont think there was a way to in 2013). I understood that it did not need it.
@@Nerb1 thanks for getting back to me fast :) last question. would you prefer unifilter or rottweiler if goal is: Dustprotection. not powergains
@@maxbennike I have never used the rottweiler kit, but I have only heard good things about it. As long as you keep them oiled, I think either is fine.
Nerb1 great, thanks a lot 🤟🙂
Hmmmm, not sure I want to screw will all this trouble now after all
Damn do they want more screws lol
I know, I know... you wont like it until you see it in the bush!
I have the 14.. and bought 2 filters. Anyone in the US looking for one.. pm me
Its the worst part of an "adventure bike", but I wouldnt let it sway me.
its called testicles. If you had any, you'd have hair to!
Dear KTM, please research your competition, and make your air filter's changeable without removing the fuel tank.
Here is an example of BMW R1200GS

I love KTM motorcycles, but there is room for improvement. Cheers.
It cant be that hard right???
Ausmodica is lazy that is why
That prefilter looks quite bad. This has to be the worst air intake design on an adventure bike.
This is as bad as my Sertao!
