What did Tesla change in the new refreshed 2022 Tesla Model X? Well we compare one to last years model and you would be surprised how much has changed. But is it worth waiting a year for one?

Thanks for the review. Very well done. I am getting my replacement 2022 Model X about a year after I ordered it. You gave me a good idea how it changed.
Very nice comparison, thank you for a fantastic job!
Nicely done, good level of detail. You ignored the drive train, but I assume everyone knows about that or can see the changes in the Tesla specs on their web site. Personally, I would be reluctant to use the yoke. But even more important, I object to removing the control stalks. So if I wanted an X, I would try to find a good used one.
The other factor, though, is the ride, noise, and audio, all of which are supposedly much better in the refreshed Models S and X. From what i have read, almost everyone agrees that the improved suspension and better noise control are significant improvements. The X I drove once (a loaner I had for 3 days) was pretty noisy. That might push me towards the new model if I could wait and could afford it.
The charge door is larger to accommodate CCS charge ports in overseas markets.
Like the refresh and we take delivery of our 2022 refresh plaid in a week. Although there are some differences between the 2 versions i don't believe either one is a bad choice.. We just went for the new one seeing the yoke was different. What we really wanted was the better visibility of the instrument cluster and the ease of getting in with a smaller steering wheel. Whether or not we will really like that once we take delivery is TBD, but for no very excited to get our new X in. This will be our first time going completely electric for all our vehicles (which are tesla TVs) so excited to see where the adventure goes and if we stick electric from hear on out...
Does the 2020 mx have bluetooth car entry? Or do u have to use key fob only?
Since I have a 2017 with free charging, and both computers have been updated, I'm thinking to stay with the 2017 for now. However, my biggest question is whether I can put my golf clubs in the Frunk, which important to me. Also, I know that a prior upgrade softened the ride versus my 2017. That is important too.
When are you coming out with a dynamic (as in driving) differences between the old king of the hill, the P100D and the Refreshed equivalent? The purchase decision question you left is premature! (It was good seeing you and your lovely daughter yesterday at the TOSV event.)
I have a 2018 100D which has been great. But we did place an order for the new one 2 months ago which we will only receive January 2023. I also have a Model Y performance which I got in December. That delivery was quick, I only had to wait 1 month. Look forward to the new X though!
I've had the refreshed 2022 Model X for four months now, and it's amazing. It's my first Tesla and well worth the wait, especially seeing those price hikes.
Love the video. Definitely going with a Refreshed Plaid in a few years.
Great video Raj. Man o man I want the X.
I ordered my MXP last year and just took delivery on 4/8… My car appreciated as I took delivery lol
Holy s… the production quality is crazy!
Appreciate u
Great video as always Raj
Made possible by the Tesla Owners of Silicon Valley and this amazing community!
@@TeslaRaj thank you for making it awesome
What about the AC charging? My 2018 X will charge at 72A with my gen 2 tesla home charger. However when i plugged a friends 2022 S into my charger it would only charge at 48A? Does anyone know if the Model X is restricted to the 48A max charge rate?
I like the 2022 refresh, but am at the same time quite happy with my 2018 100D which I will be keeping for now. I reserve judgment on the Yoke wheel until I get a chance to try
Is build quality improved any?
If I suddenly could afford it, I would order it, and have a Model 3 in the mean time :P
Great video! :D
Raj .... I have an opinion.... If you can change your logo like yoke steering wheel..... How's it.....🙂🙂😊
I ordered Plaid X 2022 couple of weeks ago. Not expecting it to be here in Europe before Q2 2023. However, I have time and my Y meanwhile :))
Keep in mind that the refresh started shipping in October as a 2021 and is exactly the vehicle your reviewed as the refresh. There were a few Xs of the last generation made in January 2021 that are also called 2021. There's NOT place that you can just decide to buy a brand new 2021. Tesla doesn't take orders for the previous generation and there aren't any inventory cars from Tesla that are new previous generation Xs. Maybe what you meant was that you can buy a used pre refresh whenever you want and you'll likely spend more than if you just order a new X and wait for it.
Also, apparently, those "just before refresh" Model X you may be referring to actually were equipped with the 4-row module battery packs.
Living in Union City, it gives me a sense of pride my city is in a video! (And I was at that charger a couple days ago!)
'patience young grasshopper'
Get the BLOODY NEW X
Solid video. Too much reflections on the cars though
That shot at 4:52 🔥
Excellent video! I have a Model Y 2022 Performance. However, I also have an order for a Model X which will be delivered January 2023. Not sure if I will keep my Y or trade it in for the X.
Don’t trade, just sell it on CL for much higher price. I just sold my 2021 Model Y Performance at a higher price I paid. That’s crazily hot now. A warping $20K difference from Tesla’s trade in offer.
What about the ANR, Active Noise Reduction? I thought the 2002 X now has that.
It does. And a ton of materials changes that weren’t quite mentioned
I just ordered the model XLR, currently have the MYP and I like the Y, but the space in the X and tech is what had me sold on the X.. the old one looks nice, but I'd rather not deal with used one, bc ppl don't always take care of things, and the older ones are more likely to have issues
Very true. I love the new one. Just have to be patient on delivery but otherwise it’s amazing!
why you said at ad it 2021 vs 2022 and in video is 2020 vs 2021
I’m about to take my model x delivery tomorrow after a 14 months wait. I’m hoping for a smoother and quieter ride than my current model y which is a pretty loud and stiff ride
Hows the upgrade going i have a mode 3 and cant decide to buy the new X or old one and save around 10k
Good comparison of models but found reflections on vehicles and audio very annoying. You can’t order the older style mX, but can get a used one. I own the refreshed mS and it is massively better than previous 2017 mS.
It's standard, new one comes out, production switches entirely to it
Dash is an improvement. I liked the front look of the older model better than the newer. Maybe the newer one will be easier to clean bugs off.
It's more aerodynamic but I highly doubt the bug problem is any better
thnak you
I feel so lucky, I have ordered a Model X 16 months ago when price was $90k then added like max options including 22” wheels, 6 seats, FSD $10k. Total $115k (before taxes). Now, I just check with the same options add-on it will cost me $145k.
Lucky you!!
So does the Yoke have the little horn button (which is a REALLY bad idea in a panic situation) or can you just hit the large center area of the Yoke?
With current software, you can cover all the buttons on the right with your palm and the horn will honk. All Xs made since November have an airbag horn switch which is supposed to be activated via a software update shortly.
What Alan said 👆🏽
Everyone knows on a motorbike you hit the 'little' button!
Don't see much difference with the Yoke____better still, your hands don't leave at a critical Mo!
Generally, I like the updates to the Model X Refresh. They're what I was waiting for before I got rid of my 2016 Model X. I'm a little disappointed in the smaller frunk. I'm very disappointed in the lighting changes. (I may have to do some investigation into changing them if the aftermarket doesn't come up with something soon.) The one thing I definitely do not like on the 2022 is the front door handles. The older ones were so convenient to use. But I guess you can't have everything.
All door handles are electronic so button just makes far more sense IMO. I really didn;t like the old handles because they were positioned right at the corner and the amount of torque you could possibly apply to that thick handle was annoyingly less than the torque you could apply to a normal interior handle.
Refresh! For sure
Where can you buy a 2021 MX?
Used and that's it.
sheesh raj with the travis scott jordan 1's
🫣
Super nice
Bro you shoot this vlog at improper location.. Because everytime there is reflection of surroundings/lines on car surface
What about the charging speed. Isn’t faster ? With the 2022 it should be up to 200+KW is vs the 150KW max
The 2021 Raven Model X was capable of this speed too. Earlier models were slower
@@TeslaRaj The 2021 Raven last made in January of 2021 cannot charge 250kw like the refresh can. The refresh will charge at 250KW all the way up to 34% before it starts tapering. The last Raven X can charge up to 225KW but it starts tapering much sooner and tapers far steeper than the refresh.
You missed the most obvious external thing...the wheels look different as well. Otherwise nice video
Picked up our 2022 MX Plaid the very last day of the year! I love the upgraded tech as well as everything else. This is our second EV, with the 2021 MY our first. I'd be hard pressed to go back to an ICE vehicle again, although: I still keep a beater pick up for making dump runs...lol...
Nice! Congrats and u got the $7500 off too!
@@TeslaRaj Hi Raj...actually, I received over $16K in discount with 10K miles of free charging. I'm okay with that :)
2022 for the improved center consul
I like storage... Why nothing in the doors??? Drink holder, Corvid mask, hand sanitizer, sunglasses, rag for windshield, are just a few that I currently use in my existing ICE vehicle.
In the Netherlands I can buy a second hand very nice (100D 417 hp) Tesla X for half of the new price. Seeing the small difference and to be fair, the differences are clearly motivated by to elements; 1. Feedback of customers and 2 production optimization. The small changes on the customers sides are very minor. Yes having a coat hanging is nice…. As for the production optimization I see the original version as the more luxe model than the new one... So to buy a new one, versus the older model (with around 100k km) for half the price (knowing a Tesla X is proving to drive 500.000km) is a easy choice for me…
Very good point
nice review.
just took ownership of my plaid and had a few days to compare the differences...
most annoying:
- the rear lid for the second compartment in the back now is just a simple board, no way to fix or align it. feels very cheap.
- the front dash/display is looking awesome but can't be customized. No album covers, no trip info, no tire pressure... come on Tesla... it's just software
- no more key fob. Yes, you can buy after POS or pair the phone. But it's not as efficient and reliable as a real key.
- the new center display is great, but you cannot see (at least from my driving position) what is on the left bottom corner, since the yoke is in view of sight
- cruise control distance is now buried in the software
- I cannot release the charging cable manually anymore (only with the app or UI)
basically I would wish , that Tesla is paying a bit more software attention to S and X and use the advantage for the front display. I'm aware it's all in for 3 and Y, but it I think they upset many owners by this strategy.
Final Disclaimer 🙂: The car is awesome, efficiency is unbelievable, build and drive quality massively improved and I wouldn't trade it for another EV.
The new Model X and Model S i pure gold I love it!
Nice shots but , editing is not great with music that became annoying in compareson with presentation speach which is much lower in volume. So this is due to the poor sound design and is frustrating to watch.
My advice is the almost look the same, yes the front interior have change but not much, i will keep my 2018 model till Tesla. Bring a brand new design car, not a new design interior but a brand new design exterior Model X, that will be the smart way to keep your money for now till a new exterior Model X come out.
Model S Refresh and I am waiting...
Heated and cooled seats were still offered in 2018
No they weren’t
@@JesusisKing2000 yes they were
I would order new
Tesla Model X 2022 it’s an amazing car
Same desgin with 5years? Pss
I found the music volume raising louder then the rest of the video very annoying between shots. Not sure why I watched the video as I'll never afford a Model X.
Never say never. I bought $TSLA stock after I got my M3 in may 2019 - my $8k investment yielded my X-Plaid last month. So... That happened!
new model x has no vents on 2nd row b pillar and 3rd row vents are useless. new model x drives so much better and feels like a completely different car
Don't care much for the new one ,I have a 2 year old 100d and its just great for me being in my 70s don't think i would like that yoke wheel .
The yoke is super easy to get used to. I think the biggest improvement is that they use a horizontal screen now. It was so hard to use the vertical screen, even as a passenger.
Personal opinion, granted but:
1. yoke sterring wheel is definitely something I'd opt out of - annoyance of a century by design and functionality. fail 😅
2. Landscape centre screen, not for me either. UX fail. You are supposed to be able to reach all functions on the screen with ease, which worked well on the portrait screen. If it works, why change it?
3. Air vents change. Seems like a downgrade of functionality.
3. Redesign of the interior door. Why? X was always different and for that reason cool. It's now just as any other tesla 3 or Y, so downgraded in my eyes.
I'd prefer a low mileage older much cooler version, than overpriced (now) refreshed-downgraded new version.
Shame that it's gone backwards.
straight facts
The latest Tesla model X
HII
Didn't do the tail lights, but anyways 2022 is the better one to take.
Yeah this particular one didn’t have refresh taillights
Lol, who uses a coat rack?
😜 classy folk 😂🤣
Whoever wants a Tesla Model X and get the old price before the increase DM me if in the Bay Area
Still offering?
@@xeithvei8621 Yup dm me if interested
@@xeithvei8621 hey man let me know if you want the tesla still
@@fidelgrandez524 send me your email address
I hate the new model x screen. Needs to be completely inside the dash. Looks cheap
Probably because you can change to 3 different positions: Tilt toward driver, tilt toward passenger, or leave it centered flat against the dash. (I don't know if this tilting option was available previously).
Looks like the useless sun visors remained the same. This is my biggest gripe w/this vehicle. Petty, yes. Seriously who designed those, a 7ft tall person?
Are you / were a model X owner?
@@HKFIJIHK yes.. 2016 P100D MX. still have it.
Refresh is far worse. Interior lights are dimmer, smaller and thus unusable front trunk, shifter stalk gone, and yoke steering wheel is difficult and awkward. I will gladly keep my 2020 as long as possible. If Tesla doesn’t fix it’s new design flaws I will not buy another.
The refresh is 100x better. And no the lighting isn’t worse on the refresh
Just meet a guy with Tesla who declined to buy much cheaper Plaid because of the joke without stalks. Bought worse Mercedes for 220 000 instead.
So sad. The yoke is extremely ergonomic on long drives. It does need retraining for turns at low speeds, U-turns, and 3-point turns. If you use the yoke without crossing your arms, instead letting the left handover the yoke to right and vice versa instead, you'll begin liking the yoke.
The old front trunk can hold a set of golf clubs (barely). The new one can’t because they made it smaller. Functionally worthless. I won’t buy it.
You a troll?
Sorry. I want a real steering wheel. And turn stalk and wiper stalk. Not everything Elon dreams of is 'the best'.
I don’t support Tezlab after Ben Sullins completely trashed his reputation with the Tesla community first only being successful because of them and then trash talking community. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.. DONT SUPPORT Tezlab. Try Teslafi instead
bad camera man
Your zooming in too much. We cant even see the thing your mentioning because you have the camera cropped so tight up on you. This is painfully apparent in the breakdown of the rear.... Back the shot up please. We appreciate the videos but we are reviewing the tesla not you 😊
Almost gave a thumb down. Your review is very superficial. You left so many things out. Your very long self advertising in the middle was annoying.
