This Washington defense was tough. Props to them and Taylor Heinicke. That situational play at the end of the game was high football IQ. Don’t take risks, play out the clock, and win by a field goal. Credits to Coach Kevin O’Connell.

People want to ditch our kicker because he's terrible at 50+ but I say that our offense should be good enough to get him in comfortable range because 50+ is never guaranteed. He's super consistent at close range though and I would'nt want to risk signing someone less consistent because of cold feet.
Love the fact that each phase of the team is covering for the others’ mistakes.
@@jollygrapefruit786 Not calling for the ditch this year because your right you can't hope to find someone better on the scrap heap but Greg Joseph has been horribly inconsistent for years now especially late in games so it's definitely time to bring some competition in over the off-season. Sadly though they are stuck with him for this season and just gotta hope he doesn't fail in a must-win spot.

As a Washington fan, this game was heartbreaking… congrats Minnesota on a great game, but man this is a true heartbreaker.
I haven’t truly blamed the refs for a loss in a long time, but if Vikings lost that game I would’ve been livid. Good game commanders, and I hope you beat the eagles next week. Please. But the ref taking our safety out of the play when he was about to make an interception infuriated me so much. It handed the commanders the momentum when the play should’ve been replayed. I’m glad they overcame it, but that was so bad.

MIN with a comeback road win are now 7-1 on the season. Cousins showed some poise especially in the 4th quarter. This team can be dangerous in the playoffs. Congrats on the win MIN 💪.
I think they can win a wild card game, but they haven't won more than a single post season game since the 1980s. Never fail to disappoint in the playoffs. The only team with an overall winning record for a franchise to not win a super bowl, and have lost more playoff games than any team in NFL history. They've also started 5-0 and missed the playoffs TWICE. Their schedule gets harder and they play the rest of their division games on the road. I'll be convinced they can be dangerous in the playoffs only after they win the games.

Vikings haven't been especially dominant but 7-1 is 7-1 either way you slice it, they've effectively clinched the division even with 9 games to go since the other 3 teams in the division are going absolutely nowhere this year.

If someone told me in week 1 that the Vikes would be four games clear at this point of the season I would have laughed at them...
I try not to complain about officiating, but this was pretty suspect. St. Juste got away with at least a couple including the Cousins interception and broke up the fade in the end zone at the end of the game. The Zadarius facemask was questionable at best. Dantzler was called for chopping the lineman when he was making a tackle. No call on the horse collar of Jefferson. No-calls on hands to the face on the D-line against Darrisaw. Illegal contact on Sullivan when their feet got tangled up. The back judge took out Bynum from a free pick and then the Commanders get a TD off of it. And then they just hit the Commanders with the dagger makeup call on the personal foul to end the game. Just strange officiating.

The Vikings actually dominated this game. A deflected INT in the endzone before halftime. The 50-yd prayer w/ referee PI TD was an absolute gift. The Vikes offense gets into a lull at times, but the score was far closer than the game.

3 things:
1) Heinicke's run where he did the spin move to get a 10 yard gain was flippin sweet
2) Washington's defense is lookin real good, they should end up with a solid record this year
3) I fully expected Vikes to lose down 17-7. Kirk was tough as heck, offense never gave up, defense stepped it up (again) in key moments. What a great battle
3b) TJ Hockenson was totally clutch. 9 catches, so many 3rd down conversions. Watch that dude the rest of the year

At the end why didnt WAS let MIN to score td and have a ball and 1:30 left on the clock + time out? Instead they got 10 seconds to get a fg for equalizer without a time out
They had to depend on Joseph to make essentially a PAT which he has missed 3 this season. Talk about taking chances.

Defense wins Championships way more then Offense's. The Vikings have had some great Offensive teams and didn't even get to a SB because of lack luster defense's. But you are right, it is a team game. Before that play the commanders were struggling to drive and the crowd wasn’t that into the game. I hope the nfl issues a statement and makes a rule change because that was worse than a bad penalty. The back judge position has 2 rules. Don't let anyone get behind you, and don't interfere in the play. He lost on both of those rules that play. I understand about seniority, but those positions must be filled with athletic guys who can run. Not old timers who have been doing it for 30 years.

@@mrbinklesgames6620 I’m glad they won but I’m still not sold on them. The defense played good today but the offense has too many three and outs and in the playoffs that will come back to bite you. Adam Thielen needs to be moved back to the slot he’s not an outside receiver, I don’t know why we don’t use that guy that we got from Philadelphia more.

Been a Vikings fan for almost 50 years...this is the scariest 7-1 I've ever seen. Scary because they could just as easily be 1-7. I'm enjoying the huge division lead, but now come some real tough competition. We'll see if they're for real or just getting lucky.
That back judge who interfered on the TD needs to be fired today
The back judge has no business being anywhere near where the ball comes.. he should of been in the BACK OF THE END ZONE. costed the Vikes a pick. And gave them 7 points.
Washington's defense played us tough all game props to them. I'm proud of the guys for mentally staying in it and not getting discouraged going 3 and out over and over. The defense made a huge play for us and sparked our sputtering offense. We're usually on the losing end of these types of games. Great win. #SkoltotheBowl

@@martygras378 you entirely missed the point of my comment. Running backs making incredible wide-receiver-esque catches while wide receivers are finding gaps on the ground game and running 1sts is the point.

Can you imagine if that play where the defender ran into the ref would’ve been at the end of the game for touchdown, or the end of a playoff game.
They always say to play better than the refs which is true and which is what the Vikings did. The game would've been like 35 - 17 had the refs didn't help jumpstart the Commanders.

Credit to the Washington pass rush who made life difficult for Cousins most of the day but a couple critical mistakes from Taylor Heinicke and special teams cost them the game. Vikings have been both good and lucky in the 4th quarter this year.
The ref almost won the game for Washington. What would have been an interception became a Touchdown.

The defensive LINE is no joke. They carry the defense. Those linebackers and secondary suck!!! Can't cover backs, tight ends or receivers. Even when chase young comes back that back end will continue to suck

Pretty shocking how involved and up to speed TJ Hockenson looked for the purple. Showed up at the facility Tuesday and had all of 3-4 practices to get up to speed and learn a new offense and was involved in 70% or so of the offensive snaps. Looks like that'll be a good trade.
That interference by the ref should never happen. That would have 99.9% been a pick. Ref should not be there.

Watching Washington find new and creative ways to lose each week is one of life's great joys.
Harrison Smith has almost single handedly been responsible for two Viking victories this year.
I really like the Vikes coach's choices on play options as well as going for the gamble. A LOT less of these scenarios: 3 and out OR two run plays then TE out route with QB roll out then punt. Glad to see coaching choices to throw the ball deep. Vikes still need to be more solid in order to make it through the first round of playoffs though.
