  • Even though we are out west, we squeezed in a bunch of projects before leaving. This week we pull out the John Deere Frontier RC2048, hope our garden delivers before we abandon it, and give a sneak peek of what's ahead.

    I’d just like to pass on a little bit of good news, I just paid off my 1025 R 2 1/2 years early! It sure is nice getting out with underneath that bill 😊

    Offset flail would work great!

    I was considering a brush hog, but after your comment, I am now thinking about a flail mower also.
    I am happy that you were able to get some of the bounty from the garden before your trip. Happy trails

    Looks like you leave a lot of play in the three point arms and the brush hog sways side to side. Do you leave the turnbuckles pretty loose on purpose? I run mine pretty tight but I'm no expert. Love the channel.

      I came here to say the same thing. Noticed that in another video with the box blade flopping side to side also.

    I was brush hogging this last weekend and I hit something that sheared the pin that holds the blade on and it went flying out the back and nearly shook me to death before I could get it shut down luckily the blade dug into the ground a couple of feet behind the brush hog so it didn't hit anything it was a howes brand 6ft brush hog but I have another 6ft woods heritage brand brush hog to use until I get the parts to fix

    For the money I personally would stick to the brush hog unless you have a lot more cutting you plan on using it for.
    I just purchased the same brush hog to go with 2025R I ordered. It looks like it does a pretty good job.

    I hit the key, or if I turn around the other way, the lights often. Even with the seat back the entire way. Legs aren't that long so it must be a bad design.

    I would say the brush hog might be better for you than a flail mower. We have a flail mower at work and they are great... Prefer then to rotary mowers... But if you have to do a lot of backing up mowing the brush hog is better. Longer reach and it cuts better in reverse.

      I am on the fence with a mower, I have a small area I need to maintain as grass but about 2 acres of area that I want to restore back to prairie - only mowing 1-2 times per year. Would a flail mower be a better choice to cut both the small area and the 2 acres? I don’t really want to have both rotary cutter and a flail and will not be getting a belly mower.

      @@badgerlandturf If you are going to have only one type of mower and you want to be able to mow both areas with the same mower get a flail mower. It will do a much nicer job on the grass and it will handle light woody stuff in the prairie area.

    It seems like you are getting a lot of left to right sway from the rotary cutter off the three point? Is that normal?

    • @ataleofthreecabins1025
      @ataleofthreecabins1025  Před rokem

      I could tighten the bottom links which would cut down on the sway, but I was too lazy.

    Would you know why my brush hog will only lift up a few inches?

      Adjust the top link, I have to turn my top link until you don't see any threads to get enough lift to back it on my trailer.
