@Anna Berry the canon reasoning for it is kind of convoluted but Chara is kind of a stand in for the player in most runs. While we might choose genocide for fun or to see what happens it would technically be happening canonically because of Chara. While there’s a whole reason and history behind the decision that makes it better than senseless killing, that would be the solution to that. As the player the choices we make kind of just decide who’s in control canonically in a way.
