I will never support those terrori$ts, I hate the crunchya$$ monopoly. Gabe is based and steam although not perfect does a great job in a market where everyone is trying harder to screw the customer than each other.

My problem with crunchyroll is that they were an illegal anime pirating site (based) that got big enough to to start paying for the licenses for the anime it originally was pirating, and then decided to go on grifts about how immoral and evil anime and manga piracy is, like their entire company isn't built off of it.

Bring me back in the day. In early 2010s my country have no reliable anime rental, so we have pirate streaming services and forums who have every anime they could find. They even so nice as to sub it in our language for nothing in return. So peak but eventually, some of them got nuked.
Remember when we could watch fansubs on CZcams? Then they started cracking down on licensing and we had to switch to Crunchyroll, but at least in the good old days they didn't have annoying ads.
I miss the comment section I feel so alone when watching now I loved seeing others opinions and comments, moderating exist and even then I barely saw any bad comments

I'm from Malaysia, No one use Crunchyroll but I did pay for a couple months once, 1 month here cost 2 USD but missing so many anime, there's only latest 2 arcs of One Piece (only Wano and Egghead), Naruto Shippuden and Boruto but not the original Naruto, no old animes like Ranma 1/2, Sailor moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, only a few of the more popular shounen series, other genres are dead missing, literally nothing else to watch, I got back to pirate websites after
Similar issue in Poland; not as bad, but still, maybe 80% of anime are just not licensed for my country, or they just don't have it all at. Not suprising I never met anyone from here that used this website, people just default to netflix, fansubs or pirating.
Pirate websites is the worst because it doesn't make money for anime production companies.

They still don't have all the series from the Funimation site. I mainly care about old anime, so the award show is meaningless. I'll miss that one comment on Urusei Yatsura episodes about the high quality animation moments.
what hurts the most as an old anime viewer is they didnt bring over outlaw star or the vision of escaflowne, outlaw star at least is on amazon to stream or buy physical with nowhere to legally stream the vision of escaflowne only buy blu rays for 200 dollars

Production company intentionally releasing their show to pirate website early to get performance review for their show. The more shows get watched the more good show it is, and they also look at their anime show reaction on youtube to see and evaluate if the anime popular enough for them to give another season. While they get paid back from official streaming service.
Now you wonder why no one copyright strike or sue pirate website.
I generally used to read the comment sections, cause almost all of the time I was able to connect with the comments for many anime, it made some animes feel more special - not having the comment section was actually the last straw from crunchyroll for me - so i unsubscribed. 95% of the reviews were genuine, it gave me a good sense of whether it worth it to watch an anime or not - cause the 5 star reviews are usually heavily based. What to do..
Chrunchyroll didn't have 66% or more of the shows I wanted to watch when I looked into getting a subscription 10+ years ago, the ones they did have I couldn't watch because of the license not being available in my country. Half of the shows that I did want to watch where they actually had a license that was functional in my country, they were often incomplete so I would have to pirate half of it anyway. It wasn't worth it then. It isn't worth it now.

It was nice chatting about the recent episodes (besides the people that would whine about not liking an anime on every episode like they held down and forced to watch it). But they would absolutely rake a show over the coals if it sucked. And I think Crunchyroll didn’t like this.

So comments are not there in PS5. I don't know if there are others that don't have comments. Phone and website had it.
It's also mind-blowing stupid because they had a box you could check if you were to spoil something coming up. Plus, you could repot them. I enjoyed scrolling throw the comments of Jobbless Rencaantion and seeing what everyone was talking about and Gobblin Slayer. I'd only go to read the comments every so often not every episode.
It’s taking away the damn comment section, having bad servers, features that track what has new episodes don’t work, seasons and arcs arent listed right for tons of series. More and more
Most of the anime they've listed in the beginning have their rights own by other companies like Oshi no Ko for example is HiDive exclusive. Bleach is Disney owned so they have all the catalog for bleach on Hulu. I'm not sure about some of the others but streaming rights for certain shows don't get renewed on the platform due to low earnings from the show watch time so they could just never get picked up onto streaming kinda. Netflix only recently been getting the rights to stream a lot of shows on their platform having a non exclusive rights to streaming one piece new eps weekly, and etc
yo if we keep talking about crunchyroll and sony sucking ass at anime there gonna find the rest of the pirated sites and shut those down leaving crunchyroll and fuckin netflix to provide anime for western audiances

I used the comment section on pretty much everything i watched. Mainly because i dont read any manga and anime adaptations often leave out a lot of extra info and scenes and there is always someone in the comments filling in all the gaps

I hate the pirate era. It was hard fought battle to get rid of shady pirate sites and using torrents. Few years ago we had CR and Wakanim in Europe, cheap price and 99% of all shows of the season covered
Then CR bought Wakanim and HiDive came to business. I don't know how but HiDive has been buying shows left and right while same time giving big middle finger to the Europe. For example Oshi no Ko season 2 is not available here, nice way to kill series, luckily Netflix has gotten better, hoping they would kill HiDive

Crunchy roll used to be good back when all you had to do was go on there page and watch whatever you wanted to watch without paying for a subscription
I canceled my subscription because they literally censored every fan service or shows with nudity to high heaven, including the ones that I purchased like High School DxD.
They got rid of detective Conan episodes 1-124. Now I’ll have to watch them on pirated websites. Fuck man.. Crunchyroll is a convenient way for me to watch anime anywhere and on any device easily. With pirated websites I have to connect my computer to my tv or I have to be at my computer whenever I want to watch anime… it’s not as convenient as Crunchyroll since I also like watching anime when I eat and I don’t like eating near my computer
So I just unsubscribed to Crunchyroll because they got rid of episodes of one of my favourite shows without warning. What’s next? They’re going to lose the licence to stream One piece??? Fuck this

Just go there and click on an anime on the right hand side then scroll down to which episode you wanna DL and then you're good. There are so many options you have man.

Remember them shows you said were peek at beginning and you said were all great, they all on Hi-Dive Sentai Filmworks and they havent let bad things happen to their site like crunchroll has. i still pay for crunchyroll as much as it sucks its my only option for what i need, pirating sites on mobile are always filled with annoying pop ups and ads, i want to support the industry but im not a huge manga fan and i dont have the money to buy manga from every anime i like not to mention all of my in progress animes are saved in crunchyroll so switching over to anything else now would be a nightmare of trying to find which episode i was on

Crunchyroll bought rightstuf anime where I bought a bulk of my anime figures and 3 of my figures I bought ended up just getting shipped right back to sender. I got refunds for them but they failed at getting me 3 of my figures.
Why do the pirate anime sites have better communities than Crunchyroll? Likes, reply notifications, profile pages and comment sections all exist on pirate sites yet not on a site you have to pay for?
