Off topic but I noticed people say Nia can’t dance. She can dance. The problem is choreography and music can either entertain the audience or bore the audience. She got bad choreo meant for other dancers on that team. And she never got the chance to blossom on the show because Abby kept boxing her in.

Everyone in the comments talking about how Kalani said the competitions were fake. I thought everyone knew that they were real but they have to perform twice. That’s why if they fall or forget the moves in the clip then they might still win
No, the (later) competitions are actually fake. That has nothing to do with the "dancing once for the judges and once for the cameras" aspect.
No they had to host their own competitions for child labor laws because they were actors

Ik I’m late but everyone’s saying that “Oh but Kalani said the competitions were fake!” You have to remember that Kalani hasn’t been there since season 1. Nia was.

To everyone confused because Kalani answered a question asking if the competitions were "fake"-
The competitions were invitationals designed specifically for Dance Moms. So they were put up for the tv show, with special judges, other dance schools invited. There were rumors that producers fooled with the results from time to time, or messed with things (music skipping or stopping). Kalani might have considered them fake because she came from a studio used to competing at huge conventions with hundreds of dancers. I consider them Dance Moms specific and therefore not real (I competed as a kid too). No normal competition would allow a mom or dance teacher take the microphone during awards, or let a group use fake snow or blow messy things all over the stage that would take more than a minute to clean up.
Exactly! You get it. Unfortunately, so many people here are seeing it as an "either/or" situation. They are BOTH right and BOTH telling the truth.

It’s interesting how Nia’s answers are completely different than the girls on the “irreplaceable tour”. Not saying she is lying at all I love Nia but someone is lying and I would love to know who
Nia's answers contradict things that were coming out and being "exposed" far before the show was slotted to be over (it was still going strong when the evidence of it being fakes began to come out) and this evidence directly lines up with what other girls and the moms (and even people who were involved in the show for a short period of time) have said. Nia is lying because now that she's on a big show (although soap operas aren't the biggest gig you can get, they're kind of seen as a "scum" role when you can't get anything else as far as the acting business is concerned) she can't REALLY "expose" anything because it'll make it seem like she's a drama lover and other producers and industry professionals won't want to work with her. She should have just kept her mouth shut and not said anything honestly rather than blatantly calling everyone else liars when she herself is lying and it can be corroborated far before all this other drama and the show ending happened.

I’m glad Nia actually acknowledged Abby’s sickened. Maddie and Mackenzie didn’t even say anything. I mean I love Maddie and Mackenzie but without Abby, they would not be where they are. The most they could do was say they really care and want her to feel better.
It made me cry so hard when abby said i feel like a whore. Like all the girls just used her. Dude without her they might be good dancers but no where where they are now. Peopke watched for Abby. You hear Gymnastics coaches say they have to break the girls down so when they compete they just go for it.
Abby treated them like trash--they don't need to acknowledge Abby, esp. publicly. None of the girls do.

The Comps were "fake" in that lifetime had to organize their own because the "real" competitions didn't want the drama and filming and because they needed smaller competitions that could move quickly so they could stay within child labor law restrictions. As you'll see in any episode, they arrive and leave while it is light out. Any regular competition you'd arrive very early and be leaving after dark. When I competed we arrived by 10 am and we left usually around 11 pm. So the show needed competitions they could control on the organization aspects. (Also, any other completion would have disqualified the featured studios for some of the fights and screaming matches that happened). Now the judges weren't told who should win or how to score, so the scoring and awards were real and earned. Some competition-related drama was fully faked, though through editing or staging (the You Can and Be Anything solo score "mix-up" wasn't real. The completion owner that was shown was just a random lifetime employee and the real scores were what were shown at awards. The competition records never listed Maddie as the 1st place winner). That is why Nia's response to that question and Kalani's response is different, it depends on what you are qualifying as "fake"

The girls actually talked about it. Kalani did not say they organised their own (because they didn’t) she just said that they had to arrange the timetable for the girls because of child labour laws.
If you watch that interview she was very hesitant and said they were fake because they had to change the way comps normally work, not because they actually were fake.
my sister and her dance school (my old dance school) were invited to a competition where they were filming. her school and other schools were invited to the competition instead of signing up by themselves. When I was competing, I have been at competitions where they weren’t filming for the show. The vibe is totally different from when they are filming and not. It’s not totally comparable bc my experience was w the original girls (Maddie, Nia, Chloe) and my sis competed against the girls currently on the show

So from what I understand from a couple different videos for drama purposes if someone messed up they got a retry unless the show decided to use the bad footage for drama same
yes or like when Ava's umbrella flipped inside out, or chloe dropped her hat, or when her head band fell in front of her face or maddie fell on the gym floor, or when kenzie slipped on her sleeve, or the tons of times hair pieces in general came out! I would just love to sit down with one of the girls not just to ask them my millions of questions but also because they seem like cool people, but I feel like most of them just want to leave the show in the past.
If they messed up in the judged performance, they are stuck with that score, even if they didn't mess up in the non-judged one

For everyone mentioning that this information contradicts Kalani, go back and watch the video of Kalani. When asked if the competitions are fake, she first very clearly says, “They’re not fake, but they are like....” Then, she goes on to say that they “kind of are”, and then goes further to kind of roll her eyes and say they basically are fake. I think Nia is being completely honest by saying the competitions are real, and Kalani’s answer is in agreement with that. I believe that there are some technicalities which made the competitions a little (or a lot) unusual compared to a typical competition and both girls are noting that. Nia also is in agreement with other cast members when she says the show was not scripted and notes that the producers were able to manipulate things. I believe Kenzie once said a producer sugggested she say something specific in her interview, but that was about as scripted as it got. Also, I think if I had to choose a cast member for clear, technically accurate news reporting, I would choose Nia. She has always seemed very level headed. Good for her for being so honest yet also very caring about Abby, too. Nia is such a mature and caring young lady. 💕
Adagio Lesson Studio and Music Therapy Except it not just Kahlani that said is fake. Even Chloe and Kendall said they were fake. There are also some who were audience members that said how fake the show competition was. In most cases these girls didn't win but will be shown as winners for the show and that's why Nia doesn't even know where the trophies went, it's because they weren't really theirs to begin with (except for Maddie,she won for real)
Love 1 I don't think those dance competitions would put their reputation on the line to show false standings on national TV, it feels more likely that the game was played by going to smaller comps where everyone including the judges had to feel biased towards Abby's company for filming a show there, I would be intimidated if I were a small-time company going against girls that are considered celebrities by all the students.
christmastiger this is true. The studio I went to for a little bit my freshmen year of hs competed with ALDC a couple years ago and they were just a small studio in a small town. I’m not saying all the comps are like that bc I just don’t know, but I do know that they did indeed compete with small studios

Your mom was always my favorite because she was always so respectful and true to herself! I like how she handled all the controversy in such an adult manner. Yet, she stood up for you and made sure that you were not made to perform dances that were disrespectful to you. I have no hate for any of the girls. But Nia isn't ignoring Abbys illness. She is grateful for Abbys time she danced with her. I have never seen Kelani even speak about the time Abby offered her. She doesn't even want to talk about where Abby got her in life. Kira has lied often on and off shows. So I would believe Nia more than anyone else.

That's cuz Nia is the only one with a good momma lol. Holly prob told her that she doesn't have to love Abby, but she should give Abby credit where it's due. No matter how crappy Abby treated her, she never talks bad about Abby, and doesn't pretend like Abby didn't put her on.
This is such a late reply to any of this so nobody is gonna see this but it’s fine. I think part of why people on the show don’t talk to and about Abby is because of the trauma. There were some harsh things said to everyone on the show. I don’t know how much is edited but to an extent it could have done a lot of mental damage to people on the show. I also think it’s great that Nia recognizes what Abby did for her and is grateful for it, but I don’t think the answers to these ideas are as rigid as most have been saying in the comments

What does being on the show for a long time prove her being truthful? I don’t think she would lie and I don’t think she contradicts other retelling, she just sees her experience on dance moms differently than others.

Nicole, Nikki and Eliza - ROBLOX! I mean these girls were probably exhausted and overworked they may have just genuinely forgotten. Sometimes your mind can wander in a routine too and they also don’t get a lot of rehearsal so stuff happens sometimes. Not saying it’s not fake, but just food for though

to be honest, I only believe Nia. it’s obvious that The Irreplaceables are trying to lie about what really happened on the show because they wanna make themselves look good (plus they keep bashing abby).
Perle Ayina the other girls said that the comps were fake... how does that make them look good? If anything that makes them look bad because none of the wins were real. I love Nia but it’s well known that the comps were all fake after season 3.
They're not trying to lie lmao and what they say certainly doesn't make them look good. Nia isn't lying either but she's definitely holding all of the real details back a bit, which I don't blame her for because she's still out and about and working on her career. But the other girls were telling the truth as well, it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. (Also lmao... she mentally and emotionally abused 2/3 of them for years. They're allowed to dislike her and be bitter.)
It had to be fake in some parts otherwise they’d be breaking child labor laws it’s common sense. And it’s reality tv so while it’s not scripted the producers are going to edit it to appeal to people.
"Don't bite the hand that feeds you" is meant for people to not turn on those who have done good for them and helped them in some ways of their life. It absolutely does NOT apply to someone who abused you for more than half of your life. Smdh. Get out of here with that bs.

You should do a *PART 2* of this!!!!! 😃😁 I’d like to know the answer to whether Abby Lee choreographed or taught some, if any, classes before the show? Because I think I read somewhere that she had her other teachers who primarily taught the classes and she just owned the studio and roamed around teaching only (maybe) a few classes?

I love how throughout the years of dance moms Abby started getting girls who she didn't train from the beginning yet the one girl she did got shut down and pushed aside the most and was told she couldn't dance even tho she could. And that girl stuck through it and is still talking kindly of Abby.

I liked her video. It was nice to hear her perspective. I am glad she stayed away from trashing Abby. She said she started dancing at the studio at 3 years old...so if Abby was so abusive, why did she continue? She was taking classes at Abby's studio before the Reality Show. I still watch all the episodes because I love watching the dances. It was sad how much all the Mom's argued.

No matter how many season there were or other girls coming in, Nia remained the entire time. Nia is a extremely talented young woman who’s such an inspiration to young girls. I feel bad for all the girls because of the verbal abuse from Abby. Nia’s mom did an amazing job raising Nia and standing up for her. As a mom I don’t think I could of tolerated it. Congrats to you Nia for all you’ve accomplished and loved you’re swim suit in the city you recently did! 💖👌🏽

I don’t think they are “recreating” it. Just getting more angles for the camera. So if they fall they just get the video that they get the first time of the fall, but all the choreography is the same so they could fill it with other scenes I’m guessing.
