One of my favorite TE's compositions. I've had it worked up in the past, time to dig back in on it. I've learned that if I don't continue working and playing these tunes my fingers quickly forget them. Thanks for the great tutorial, Mr. Van Roy!
For how simple the song is relatively, the chorus melody and the resolution gives me goosebumps and tears me up when I close my eyes and listen with a good pair of headphones.
Hi Tim, I started watching your first tutorial on this song 3 months ago thinking my thumbs are too short and I would never be able to do it; 3 months later I am playing this song at camp fire where my friends told me how amazing it sounds! I realized that thumbs or hand size may make this song hard to play, but with practice and patience these hurdles can be overcome!
Hi Sam! That is great to hear! A lot of people who think their hands are too small for certain chords can actually play them if they really pay attention to their playing posture. So that is probably what happened with you too, practicing it over all those months. Enjoy the tune, this is a joy to play for the rest of your life!
Part 2 is on Patreon or my website! I used to offer them in full (for free) on CZcams but I got shot down for copyright reasons. I could restart behind a paywall with proper licensing being tracked (and payed out)!
I am so glad I have found this video! I have been struggling with the intro for months, determined not to be defeated by the ‘big hand’ issue and waiting with the rest of the song until I have cracked it! What I don’t understand though, is why all of the tabs I have found have a drop D tuning when the only recorded version I have found is in C🤔
Hi Angus! Tommy plays this song on a guitar that is in drop D tuning and then dropped down another full step. But since he has multiple guitars (and most other people don't) it makes more sense to explain it in "drop D" instead of the lower tuning. There are live recordings of Tommy playing it live in "standard" drop D tuning too! That extra step down makes it sound twice as big thought, that is probably why he prefers that when playing it on stage.
@@TimVanRoy Thanks for that explanation! I think I have a spare guitar I can drop down a step more😅. Still struggling with the song but good things come to those who wait!
Hey Tim! Is there gonna be part 2 of Those Who Wait on your channel? If not, is it because there is no part 2 video yet, or the video is somewhere else? Thank you for your reply Update: I already paid for your Patreon so I found the video 🙂
Hi Zdenko! Great to hear you already found the Patreon page! I'm just going through the comments of the last week and I'm only seeing your message now. I hope you find all you need on the Patreon page!
When I started making the tutorials, Endless Road took me the longest. When it comes to learning Tommy's songs in general... It took me over 10 years to get Luttrell down!
@@TimVanRoy Oh Yes. I totally agree with you Luttrell is really difficult and right next to Neon by John Mayer for being among the hardest songs ever to master.

This is a song for the ages, a clear example of how something can deeper/greater than the simple sum of its parts!
I wish I could've seen my expression when he said "don't worry, I'm going to show you an alternative" xD. What a legend. Great lesson.
I wish you could have seen my expression when he said you need massive hands 🙄 😆
Wait until you see the stretch in the intro of "Mr. Sandman" (coming soon). That one blew my mind!

来自中国的问候❤,你的视频让我练琴思路打开不少,也让我尝试通过讲出来去验证自己有没有理解到位
That is awesome to hear! So glad you feel inspired!
Tim says "you'll need massive hands to play some of these chords"
*All of us looking down in shame at our tiny hands* 🤣
😂
Is part 2 available on CZcams?

Those who wait is easy as compared to Tommy's other songs. Fuel and endless road are most difficult. What was your toughest song to learn Tim?

where can I find part II?
Hi Sebastian! Part 2 is on Patreon, pricing for access to the full lesson archive starts at €3/month.
@@TimVanRoy Got it. Thank you so much :).
