  • I recently bought a new bicycle and needed a way to store it where it was out of the way. I considered hanging it from the ceiling but I've heard that hanging a bike with hydraulic shocks and brakes is not a good idea. So I came up with a way to hang the bike on the wall. It also provides a place to store my helmet and other small gear.

Excellent. It is shocking how much some start-ups want for their fancy versions of this. It's like they forgot all about mass production techniques.

That’s pretty neat. I’ll give this a shot

Great video! I might be making this soon! You made it look smooth and easy.

Let me make a suggestion. I'm actually going to be redoing this eventually. I added a bottle cage to the bike and now it barely fits. If you're going to try to make it big enough to fit a helmet inside just be sure to put the slot lower so the bike will fit if you decide to add a bottle cage. Other than that it's holding up fine. Glad you liked the video! Thanks for the comment!

some rubber cut from an old tyre tube & fitted to the hooks would protect the bike frames paint or some soft nylon tubing cut lengthways & fixed over the hook edges :)

Very nice rack. I wish I had enough skill to do something like this. Well done.

You have the skill, you just need the tools.

I thought about painting it but I was afraid the paint would rub off on the bike so I just used a spray lacquer.

im late on this but.. do you think of making these for sale?

I'm thinking of selling them but I want to do a slight redesign. There are a few things I should have done differently.

Not bad but for a frame like that i would level it by not making a straight opening, but angled. It looks like crap angled down, loses the essential aesthetic aspect of a bike... symmetry!

I was wanting to use it as a bike work stand too. I notice a lot of them hold the bike at an angle to make it easier to access the drivetrain. Plus with several of these I can mount more bikes in a smaller space on my wall. Besides symmetry is overrated. :)

never try to make one thing do two. it suffers in quality. also, a work stand should rotate 360 degrees plus hold the bike firmly in place. your little box will not. good idea though!
symmetry over-rated? tell that to Erasmus!

( latin joke for ya, if ya speak it ! )
      ha ! gotcha!

It is new. That's why I needed a way to store it. I've ridden it quite a bit since I built this.

Si tenes un porta caramañola ya no te sirve.
