Waterloo Station scene is an absolutely brilliant masterpiece. Rythm, music, acting, pure vertigo, and editing are second-to-none.
It’s just next-level rescue mission. Such intensity.
The arrogance of the journalist though...I'm going for it...if only he had watched the previous film, he would have known to listen to Jason Bourne...the one-man wrecking team of the CIA
This was such an intense scene in theaters.
They had to film the whole thing at night, this scene was a massive undertaking and it absolutely paid off

I used to solo travel on trains and planes for work across Europe, and whenever I was in a train station or airport I'd play this soundtrack and pretend I was an agent.

The final moment when both of the agents make eye contact as he leaves on the tube. Cold and emotionless, they both understand its just their job.

I don't see it this way. It the other guy's job, but it's Jason's life. Jason wasn't cold at all, he just saw another lead on his past life slip away, he was disappointed for sure.

I always catch something new when I rewatch them. They’re great.
I would watch them over and over as a teen if I had nothing to do my dad did too, wasn't too crazy about the last bourne film with the new actor playing him only got half way watching it and turned it off wasn't the same

The absolutely best scene in the whole trilogy
What is great about this scene is that every location (except perhaps for the stairwell, which might have been elsewhere) existed at the time. They used the station as it was, without resorting to a set. It demonstrates the writers and actors sort of improvising to fit the location rather than adapting the set to fit the script.
Anybody who used the station at the time recognises everything. Around the time it was filmed, I used the station daily, so this mild-mannered office worker would see if he could get from the underground to Platform 1 without being seen by CCTV, and occasionally tying my shoe!
I'm sure if you go there today, there are accountants and stockbrokers doing exactly the same every day.
How did it work for regular workers and businesses to shut down for filming. How long did the filming take

Still annoys me to this day he didn't pay attention to Bournes instructions and its only a film but its so well orchestrated and put together it feels real
That's absolutely the intent of the scene.
Like on the one hand we can all relate to what the Reporter must be feeling, just a constant wave of pure TERROR with adrenaline rattling through his veins as his Flight (As opposed to fight) instinct kicks in. Like 99.9% of untrained people would be just as jumpy, worried and desperate as he is.
Simultaneously Bourne, not only a trained operator but nigh-literal Super Soldier lol, knows that so long as everyone keeps cool and follows his lead they're absolutely gonna get out of here not just alive but unscathed too...if only this guy would *just listen* and stop acting like a scared rabbit
I actually don't always love the Greengrass directed Bournes but this scene is really good in how it plants us in either perspective quite fluidly.

I was transiting through Waterloo Station everyday on my commute to work around the time Bourne Ultimatum was made. I still can't believe I missed out on watching the best action scene in the best action film of all time being made.
I was just watching Paddy Considine in "Dead Man's Shoes".
I never really knew much about him but he was really awesome in that film. Disturbing and haunting. Great actor.

The cherry on top of this great action scene is Daniel Strathaim as Noah Vosen. He’s brilliant as as a CIA weasel.

Always wondered why Matt Damon didn't like this film - it's tight, fast paced, excellent !
I think he didn't like the first script of the film, it got re-written while they filmed it (which Damon also didn't seem happy about as it made filming stressful). The first script was 'terrible' and 'embarrassing'. The studio threw it out. He seemed to be happy with the new script and film from what I can tell though.
@@dolcearancia9003 I just saw a video of the deleted scenes from this and they were indeed deleted for a reason! Whoever did the rewrite was great, replacing whole pages of dialog with just someone saying "Connect the dots"

Great scene, it builds tension very well and suspecting the bin man seemed to be adrenaline kicking in at that moment, he wasn't composed and thinking straight under pressure.

Small detail. Bourne's headset is wired for two reasons, better microphone and Bluetooth is easily hackable.

This also goes for real life follow instructions and keep calm never panic because panicking will make the situation even worse you put yourself in danger as well as other innocent bystanders, or any situation in general. If Simon followed Bourne's instructions plus kept calm,he would have been still alive in the Bourne franchise.
And writing many articles for the Guardian, spy thrillers for bookstores, or he may be doing TV Interviews right now...perhaps an exclusive with Jason Bourne...or working on Panorama or World in Action could have been on his career ladder too...this is why the British were so good in war, they were highly disciplined, and learnt the need to follow orders...but this guy was probably a budding freelance journalist, and a bit of a maverick...this type can't resist denying orders, and jumping in at the deep end, that's why they don't normally last two minutes in espionage circles, but he did manage about 10 mins in the film, not bad considering his arrogant carelessness and bluster...sitting duck for the CIA assassins!

I think the hardest flex of this whole scene is that bourne is Able to remain unseen until they get behind the liquor store then allows himself to be seen as he looks up at the camera .
It's great...now they know who they are up against, and he's already dismantled most of the agents...so now they know...Bourne is back...and in that one glance at the camera, they know that he knows they know, so he won't be taking prisoners, as he means business...
Didn't allow himself to be seen, just realised "Alright, that's a camera. They know I'm here. Noted" and went on.

I just had a thought, most people, if shots rang out, or you suspected a shooter, and someone in front of you dropped dead with a bullethole through his skull... would run ...and anywhere...and mayhem and chaos would ensue...but for Bourne's benefit, a group of nosey parkers just happened to be passing, and encircled the victim...maybe sunday window shoppers...old women...gossips...ooh look, a bullets gone through his brain...mmm, what's it coming to Hilda, you can't go for a cup of char without bullets passing yer earoles these days...I knoww, tell me about it Gladys...meanwhile Bourne has searched the victim's pockets, and left the seen...undetected, thanks to the sadistic sight-seers, who are so enjoying the gory scene...a few take camera shots on their mobiles to show their neighbours...the deeper message, avoid rush hour at Waterloo?
It's almost as big as the Boston Tea Party...absolute disgrace, never should have been allowed...from one aggrieved Brit, and keen tea drinker

I liked this film and the first. I fell asleep during the second one in theaters. And as a kid that didn’t happen much.
If you didn't already know that Bourne was always 3 steps ahead of EVERYONE then this scene should have let you know he was.

I love that Jason Bourne speaks about 20 languages, but it takes him a second to work out what "Bin Man" means in American English.
If at 4:30 Bourne spoke to Ross for 20 seconds more, would Bourne have been killed by the asset as he was walking out?
