Attaching a guy line to a tree .. the first method would be ideal for a ridge line on a tarpaulin .. the second method would be used just to attach a line to a tree
If you pass the knot around the tree, not the hardware, and then put the Knoct in the middle slot first, you create set up that locks under tension but is freely adjustable.
Thanks for the video. I like my knots because knowledge doesn't weigh anything but these tensioners are very strong small and light with optional use. Using a tarp and tying six toutline hitches plus the ridge line knots one after another can be tedious at times. I also learned the skill of netting from your previous videos and for that I am vary appreashitive.
excellent break-down - looping around a second time for the stronger variation is really clever. definitely one of those things that makes me say "why didn't I think of that?"

Thanks for the Upload; much appreciated; I had these come with my Hammock/Tarp set-up and wondered why they had the open ends?! Also that was a nice tip you just shared - to pass it through the first slot twice!, as mine did slip on occasions without doing this :)
Out of curiosity I ordered 10 of these and for £1.90 I cannot complain about the price. I doubt they will tension as easily as a farrimond hitch... But I will try them on my tarp next time I go camping.
I really don't see anything that assists in 'a FULL tight cordage moment' sadly :( ... Yes, it does work for tightening around a tree (bravo and thank you) vs alt methods... ....but all in all: 1) This doesn't seem to create a taught moment between tent/tarp & tree, AKA: Tightening adjustment for 'tent OR pup-tent-style-tarp setup' BETWEEN TREES OR 2) Adjustment capability for slacking lines due to a) upper weight due to snow weight, or b) poor soil/snow when using 'stakes and a tree must then be used'', OR c) Tightening adjustment for 'pup tent style tarp' setup 'BETWEEN TREES'. ......am I missing something here? Special knots perhaps? Your video still shows slack in the line going towards the tent/tarp setup :( (....just TRYING TO FIGURE OUT my best options re: 'guy line/top line style' tensioners)
Thank you for this video. As i never remember how to make knots, i use only these rope tensioners when outdoor activities. Light, solid, cheap and very useful.
I wouldn't call these things tensioners.... I bought 12 from amazon..... tried them on my ridge line & couldn't get enough tension on the line. So I reverted back to using a truckers hitch or Taut line hitch.... what, if anything, am I doing wrong? .... the wee plastic guyline tensioners you mentioned at the start of your video are much better.....Cheers
I totally agree with it's a nice bit of kit and for some it's the perfect solution for some for camping. I like carabiners,I could tie a loop but I prefer some bits and bobs to make camping simplified so this one is not for me but it was very interesting to see.
Is this a trick? We ain't got no Convention trees round here! Heck I ain't even heard of one, we got Oak and Mesquite! It's good for BBQ Brisket and Hickory for BBQ Ribs! Got some Cotton wood trees but they're mostly around creeks and lakes but I ain't got no Creek or lake on my property! I do have a neighbor who has a Ceder bush and a Weepin willer! But I don't spec they'll do? Even they would we ain't got no right to roam here in Texas and if they was ta come out and catch me all hooked on to one of them their trees they'd lible ta hall off and shoot me and they'd be in their right because in Texas you can defend your life, home, or property by the force of death and I think them tree and bushes come under a man's property! Ya know a man can become quite fixed upon a tree or his shrubbery! So I think I'll be a leavin this trick alone! But I'll be watching because I've done been inquezzed on how it's done! 🍺 Cold"Un Headed South! 👍 Mark in Texas!
wxpm you did say it were a "Conventional" tree 🌲 We got Christmas trees, Big O'l tree or Big'uns, and Small'uns, but not a "Conventional" tree! If this was a trick and I need a Conventional 🌲 to do it! WE JUST AINT GOT NONE! JUst saying that's all! ...😉
I just bought and received some of these today. They are great! I've already added them to my quick deploy ridgeline setup.
Great to hear

I just bought a pack of these, your video showed me how to use them! Thanks
Glad I could help
You can’t tighten them once they are installed

Excellent video... just last night I ordered some of these to experiment with using a modified truckers hitch. Very clear tutorial. Thanks you!
Cheers

You can’t put tension on it, it serves no purpose

Many thanks for video; you just cleared up a lot of confusion for me. Handy to have in a pack as stated for a ridgeline on a tarp.
cheers
I will look into getting them...good piece of kit...cheers Graham.
A couple of quid for 10 from Amazon

Which brand of tarp was ?
Great demonstration Graham! I'll check to see if they are available on-line for I could use a couple of them. Thank's for the tip!
Try Amazon

Not sure what is wrong as they work fine for me
They are worthless. I bought 20 and they suck
Really great video , I hope you can show it with a tarp
I have

I will stick to using hitches... cheaper and I never run out of gear that way.

How you going to put tension on it! It won’t slide!
It will .. using the first method .. just pull to tension
@@wxpm pull what! Once you put it on it’s locked. It’s worthless
