- Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler 2nd year is being portrayed as a failure. However, with a little understanding of what he went through and a dipper dive into the numbers and what you will see is a player who is still on the natural trajectory to being a really solid NBA player and likely a starting center in the NBA.
Matas Buzelis played last year for the G-League Ignite after being a 5 star recruit. He is currently projected as a top 7 pick in the NBA draft. David Locke, radio voice of the Utah Jazz and Jazz NBA Insider watched two G-League Ignite games last night and is not clear on why he is a top 10 pick in the NBA Draft and in fact is certain he will be on the board at 10 for the Utah Jazz if they want him,.

I love Walker. He had a rough year but he will find that strength and come back stronger. I hope he gets the chance.
Nice to hear comments about the present roster and especially Walker! The potential he has is still there. Coach Hardy must renew the connection betweeen Lauri and Walker. These two guys can make big things together in the future for Jazz.
So glad he brought up that collins and kessler just couldn't play together that it wasn't really discussed that because kessler and collins failed to work together and that forced him to a bench role that gonna effect their stats other people seem to ignore that they really struggled playing together this went beyond coaching that he had similar trouble on atlanta
An interesting stat you've found, that shows the trades have bigger impact than just replacing players with worse substitutes. Synergy effect is gone and players are disinterested knowing it's a tank anyway, so why bother
Comparing his 2nd year counting stats to Rudy's 2nd year the numbers are similar. Rudy had a 21.6 PER and 9.3 WS. Walker regressed to a 18.0 PER & 4.1 WS. Walker isn't washed yet but he need to make another step in year 3.
Also, a Whiteside Sexton combo would go crazy
Yeah i dont see it with Buzelis either. Not amazing on either end of the floor. Kinda seems like he'll flop.
People say his outlook form before Elite was really high so it couldve been an off year
Uhhh I dont get the idea of "He doesnt have anyone his age on the team".
The team has Keyonte, Hendricks, Sensabaugh, Juzang, Preston, Kenny Lofton, Darius Bazley and Sexton who are all 25 or younger
Keyonte, Brice and Taylor are rookies = different status on the team plus
Brice, Taylor, Juzang = most of the season down with Stars
Kenny Lofton, Darius Bailey = did came into the team very late on the season and even then started first with Stars
Sexton = 5 year vet
So even not really anyone near his situation in the team 🤷♀️ Oh and at that age it is also still big thing if someone is even one year older or younger 😄
Rudy being one of 3 best defenders of all time is quite harsh. He is not the trash ppl in national media is painting him but top 3 all time is laughable. Even for you David. And ppl talking about Kessler being better than Gobert is simply because he was showing offensive skills that Rudy never had (and never will).
I dont understand why Walker is the whipping boy for the USA team then with the Jazz. Walker has a good chance as part of the Jazz future and Collins is not part of the future. Jazz went out of their way to appease a veteran in Collins at the expense of developing Walker; I thought it was BS all year and said it all year! It made me wonder and likely others wonder if Kessler had issues in practice and/or working hard which is likely something that pissed off Walker. #IBelongToChurchOfKessler
They have no true end of the game scoring power like Dallas. Jazz had that person 4 times with Pistol Pete, Adrian Dantley, Karl Malone and John Stockton. There is no one like it on the horizon for the Jazz....

Matas Buzelis has a few appeals. First, he can play on the wing at 6'9" with good mobility and fluidity. He's able to use his length to disrupt guards and wings defensively. He has little to no physical presence if you consider him a 4, but as a 3 he's a nice positional defender and occasional help defender. Offensively, his main talent is his IQ and his ability to process and make reads with the ball in his hands. He's similar to Gordon Hayward in that he adds value as a connector. The question is whether he shoots well enough or has a clear enough offensive role when he's not on the ball to demand minutes. He shows consistent touch on his jumper from mid-range and shows the ability to shoot over smaller defenders with a slight step-back. He's not explosive enough off the dribble to consistently beat defenders off the bounce.
What do you tell someone who was a Jazz fan but can't stand the nba anymore maybe because of loyalty money or anything
You can go back and check the comments and you'll see that I was on Walker about his free throw shooting earlier than anyone else, including you. That was my one and only problem with his play. If Walker Kessler can continue his late season free throw shooting and keep everything else the same in his game, I'll be ecstatic.
That's maybe a bit of an exaggeration. He needs to rebound a bit better.

I give zero 💩s where John Collins plays in the next 3 years. He's trade bait. Kessler should be the starter. Hands down. He is better for the team than Collins. He has more potential than Collins.
Maybe Ainge wants Collins playing to improve his trade value. I dunno. But outside of that, the coaches failed Walker.
Also, Alex Jensen left for the Mavs. Look at Lively this year. That cannot be overlooked.
He had a ruff year cuz he had a bunch of no passing ball hogs led by key Jc sexton tht if Conley was his point guard he wood have progressed not regressed key Jc sexton tht all play losing basketball
This is definitely a cast I don’t want to miss. Kessler has so much potential, but i personally think he isn’t doing enough to enforce the paint. Great bench guy maybe at this rate but I really don’t believe with what he’s shown he’s a starter. I’d take Hassan Whiteside over him, at least he had real tenacity
