Don’t know about the rest of the video but seeing a 5.9 block being pulled out of the back of an electric rollerskate was worth tuning in.
A Cummins swapped Nissan Leaf would be fun, just sayin'... 😁
@@N1RKW I`m hoping for this kind of thing too. There`s the drag racing Prius, why not a diesel Leaf?
Yep did not expect that in there hahah
Yea, that was Funny ! I’ve seen a lot of parts runner trucks , but NEVER a Prius parts runner.
Too funny ! I remember driving a little Datsun pickup truck in the old days. Late 70’s I guess maybe 80’s too. Little Toyota’s too. Great trucks back then. 22R motors , 20R motors. Great motors back then.
A “ Cummins Prius “ Would be epic !
Mad respect to Scott for being so methodical about every step of the process. He's definitely got that knowledge you only gain from years and years of experience. We really appreciate him talking through the steps and explaining the reason he does things so we can learn from it.
We got a good guy there
@@DEBOSSGARAGE Absolutely ! And just as much respect to you as well Rich for always trying to raise awareness to his company and his skills. We love the work you do on your channel and how you regularly share the stage with other people just to get the information out to a wider audience. Keep up the great work.
Machinists constantly QA themselves, optimize and learn, we need to, if our job is crap, the whole shebang behind us is screwed. Some would call us perfectionists but truth is we're beyond that usually. 🤷♂️
@@David-xl8zf and when it does go wrong, we just blame the machine and if we’re lucky, the computer running the machine😂😂😂
No idea if he would read the comments after the shit he took for his opinion about oils, who could blame him if he didn't. If he does and reads this thankyou Scott for allowing filming in your shop, really respect your opinion and attention to detail and this video wouldn't be the same if you said no.
Man, Aaron is an amazing videographer. The way he edited the torque clicks to match the beat of the soundtrack was so cool! Best production values I’ve seen on any CZcams channel.
Blew my mind. I had to rewatch it!
Noticed that myself.. love the show!!
Thanks for getting Scott back in frnt of the Camera. His customers are getting the best machinist in the business. His attention to detail and quality of the finished product is second to none.
This is honestly one of my favourite videos of yours of all time. All of the detail in the machining process, the dry wit, the matching up the beats of the music to the torque wrench, and the O Rings for the head gasket. Genuinely a delight, thank you.
Much appreciated. Thanks!
I thought it was the getting the 3rd head worked on because he wanted another camera angle :P
"CBN.. basically diamond" exactly what you tell someone when you're tired of telling them what it is.
I'm a tree cutter who wrenches on his own stuff, the fact you're polishing that crank with wood is minty! Awesome info!
Never knew cork grew on trees until we saw one in Portugal
@@DEBOSSGARAGE Now that was a huge cork tree for that belt...
Always nice to watch a CZcams video where someone really knows hat they're talking about, and that engine guy knows his stuff
Trying hard to bring you accurate information and some entertainment at the same time!
@@DEBOSSGARAGE Well done , You've succeeded .
"Here we go'...shirts?
Thank you Scott for allowing your work to be filmed.
I don't know why. But I love watching you busting your butt making things work. Your level of knowledge is amazing. Thank you for putting vids out like this one.
Well was being productive and getting stuff done. Got notification and literally dropped my weed whacker and went inside to watch this
it cut weed wacker into 2 lines... i seen dropped my weed LOL, i was like yeah for sure a Canadian at this point. Love all of richs stuff, also love seeing the silverado get some love lol.
When a guy like Scott make it sound so “easy” you know your in good hands 👍
I started wearing gloves in the shop since you did, Rich. My hands are in much better shape now. Thanks for the tip.
it will save you from blood diseases and other health problems too
Yep! Your skin is an organ, I don't want my body absorbing any fluids or greases I come in contact with.
Building engines isn't science...it's art. That takes patience, dedication to perfection and the love of mechanical engineering.....you can see the passion a man has for his job. Very well played Scott !!!! But,that electric car was just for laughs right 🐌 so how about painting that Cummins the legendary Cummins Tan....just because nobody does it
This is exactly why I went into engineering... absolutely love the skills and techniques being used here!
You can just tell he wants to ram those forks right through that toasters back seat😂 I thought this was going to be one of those spoofs where they total the car by “accident”.
Rich always finds someway to make the episode funny and entertaining to watch. Love it. Keep it up deboss garage love you guys!!
Thanks!
Kudos to Scott! He is awesome and I look forward to him sharing his knowledge and his appearance in your videos. He is very professional and thorough.
Yo might be badass, but you will never be hauling a Cummins block on your EV badass
I laughed, but it's an EV, not a hybrid.
I’m more impressed with its 56 kilometer range.
@@om617yota8 thanks mate, forgot the term there
@@biguprochester That would be enough to get out of the driveway , out west , then call your neighbor for a tow back home .
I could listen to Scott narrating all day. His delivery and content are ideal. All killer, no filler.
"They're not concerned about a straight edge and two thou but when there's a stain, they're pissed!"
lol this guy is hilarious
Scotty is truly a master of his trade. And seems to be a really nice guy as well. This is so good.😁👌
Scott seems like good people!
I could learn a lot from a guy like that. I probably won't, but I *could*!
It's always great listening to people who know what they're talking about.
I'm not about to deck my own parts, but at least now I know enough to get in a fight with my local machinist over how it's done :D
I’m so glad Scott’s into explaining and filming now. I could listen to and watch him working all day, what a legend.
I also really admire your dedication to gloves. Here in Australia wearing gloves is almost a culture war thing, my friends mock me for always using them
Part of what makes CZcams great is the fact that we can look over the shoulder of a true master craftsman and watch him ply his trade. I love watching the machining part of building engines. Great vid. You get a 👍 from me.
Don't forget to do a hot retorque on the studs after you've got it warmed up! I just did mine (oringed as well).
Thanks for the reminder!
A diesel engine in the back of a electric car, How ironic lol.
One of the best with him talking everything about the machining. This is knowledge that is amazing to watch and listen to
Excellent info and explanation of why u do things wen u machine a block. Really appreciate this. A lot goes into decking that most of us would never know. Thanks a lot guys. Best of all on the tube!
Clicked the notification so fast...hoping it was an F-3Kitty episode. This will do though!
Plugging away on everything!
Ŕ b DDT
Total respect for you minty lads, love what you have done with the time stamps, and everything, makes it easier to watch if you dont have much time to watch all the vid in one sitting, hats off to you minty lads.
It's hypnotic watching Scott work. Genuine fountain of knowledge.
Bhhahah my mom has a leaf and i swear it’s impossible to get pulled over in one😂😂😂
Got to love the Machinists ! Behind the Scenes , making right , for the Builder to Claim the Victory ! Love all quality machine work ! Thanks for sharing ! Shout out to Scott !
Absolutely loved this presentation from start to finish. Even the torque wrench was getting in on the music beat at the end....👌
Ahh fantastic! I'm glad you're finally building for yourself ^_^
Also Kudos on the Nissan Leaf, I kinda want an electric car and these seem to have the best reliability
The editing with the torque sequence with the song was absolute gold!
This is absolutely awesome thank you guys so much for the walkthrough of machining a block etc. Much love from AB
I’m kinda biased because I work at Cummins in Jamestown, NY. Great video my friend!!
Looking forward to seeing more. Inside the reliability zone is good for learning, at least for me right now.
That rear suspension on the leaf was putting in work she took that long block like a champ not even a little bit of squat
Well done! Loved the time lapse music. Enjoyable as usual. Thank you!
The clicking of a torque wrench... "Let me play you the song of my people!" LOL
Love it. Driving a 2000. 455358 miles. Still running strong. 👍
Scott is truly a master of his craft, wish I had someone of his skill and knowledge around where I live
Absolutely fascinating watch, thanks for this great content guys! 👍🏻
iknow you didnt want to show how you take apart the engine but i actually just enjoy to watch you pick apart a engine every singel time XDD nice video btw keep up the good work :))
Video's get pretty long and its just me swearing at rusted, stripped bolts lol....
Coming along great guys! Thanks for sharing all the in depth info, really helpful! 👏👍
Great to see good tradesmen that know what they are talking about. Excellent machinist.
Some how I think this guy should be viewed as a benchmark for all Other machinist to be Judged. I have no Real machining experience other than turning things down on a leave but I did overhaul jet engines for 10 years and I really like his attention to detail👍
cool point of view, real world, real trials and errors spoken. great stuff.
Scott is one seriously masterful machinist. I've build my fair share, but I can honestly say I've never seen this level of detail
A good machinist is gold.
Badass video. Delron plastic works great for orings and doesn't tend to put a flat spot on them.
I like seeing the tear down.
Great information, great job explaining machine work. I used to know everything till you guys showed up!
Awesome video!! Great editing, music, and visuals. Also really loving this project!! Keep it up
Great job Rich. Thanks for the bring along.. Your awesome brother!!!
Appreciate it!
Cool video recommendation, oxtools "how thick is a sharpie mark".
Man I’ve been an auto tech for quite a while and I’ve done a bit of work in a machine shop to help a friend out, Scott is the real deal, it’s good to see someone who’s incredibly good at machining, but can also tell you why he does what he does and explain it.
love the way we get the municipal old school stuff mixed in with the here and now... great work Mr Deboss
Awesome, I'm rebuilding a 06 5.9 had to go 40 over on the block . hoping to set head and turbo tomorrow.
Awesome video thanks a lot pretty awesome how that wire help seal the head gasket I'm not a diesel guy but that's really cool
Congrats on building a nice Cummins for yourself Rich, you deserve it!
Nice.
Time and experience.
Nothing beats it.
That editing work at the end with torque wrench was gold. Me like a lot :D
This is an amazing video. Thanks for all the torque specs.
Cleanest vicegrips ever
Love the iron block in the boot of the leaf!
27:39 that camera work is genius
That is an impressive amount of prep work 👌
Thanks for doing o rings it's great information 👍🏻
Scott. Sounds like all the old school machinists I have known,. Do it right or get out of my shop.. great guys who did truly quality work .hard to find today,. Have a great one about 60miles from me and he is worth the drive..
Really great energy and momentum in the way you edit to tell the story. Nice work :)
Thanks!
man your attention to detail is awesome!! plus give your video/edit guys a pat on their back cause it is flawless
Thanks man! Very much appreciated
This is the type of youtubers i like watching, ones go give proper info on there builds and even offer to give torque spec. This is the second time i came across this channel first video was the old ford truck with the caterpillar engine in the back, which made me think you where going to put it in the truck but all well. Then this video caught my attention and kept me watching till the end like the other one, you sir got me to subscribe. Keep up the good work and offering the knowledge you got for viewers. 👍👍
we put the cat in a boom lift on our other channel @DGHD czcams.com/video/rgPsmvNOtok/video.html
@@DEBOSSGARAGE thanks for the heads gonna check it out.
Damn, it's been 40 minutes already?! I love these long videos Rich!
Engine assembly music game is strong. Spot on, Aaron! (Oh, and nice job to you too, I guess Rich...)
Nothing like listening to a guy who knows his stuff and ain't blabbin shit, Scott is a true professional
Tip
When cutting wire for fire rings get an old tin can or piston ring compressor or other bit of tube that is a fraction larger than the ring groove then wrap the wire around it and cut the wire with a small cut off blade on a Dremel or similar device .
Note if you get the size of the tube just right you can cut either straight or diagonal and the wire will fit perfectly.
Thanks man! Nothing like experience!
man I wish y'all could do my 97 12 valve I love how you guys are perfectionists!! awesome
I recommend putting the rear #6 cylinder coolant bypass on your engine even if you have to put it on the side instead of the rear because of firewall clearance. It cross flows the coolant through the block instead of it looping, so rear runs cooler.
You could plumb it to go through the heater core in place of the Dodge version supply. 😉🍻🍀😎
That was easily the funniest intro I've seen in a LONG time!!!
Lots of learning in this video, thanks.
You are the man you love GMC keep up the good work I haven't watched you in awhile Steve from Annapolis Maryland
I've getting some work done on my truck. I'll be adding the rings. Was pretty cool to see how they do it.
Only Deboss garage puts a Cummins 5.9 block in the back of an electric car!
Mahle is very quality stuff! they are a supplyer for all the big Car manufacturers....
This is from the guy who used a Sennebogan to remove a Ford Power Stroke engine. As well as conducting a valve adjustment on a 455 in his Hotel room, whilst on Power Tour. Also showing us how they keep in those Canadian Winters with a Cummings powered Flame Thrower... SWEET!!
Well Done on be able to take the time to build the Silverado, into the way you want. Can't wait for the final outcome, along with the Smiles per Miles it will give you.
I"m not a mechanic, but work on all my cars...oil changes, brakes, superfluous stuff. But this video makes me want to work in a machine shop, loved the level of detail that went into the head and your building of the engine. I've got 95 K1500 that I love but not sure if I would want to do this to a 1/2 ton. Nice production value on the videos, keep them coming.
The song during the piston installation was 🔥
Thank You for long episode!!!
By far my favorite CZcamsr his voice is soothing to me
For those lucky enough to have spent a little time in an automotive machine shop, they have an aroma to their own. A mix of iron dust, hot tank solution, and oil. I could pick up on that smell anywhere.
Dude, the fact you thought to try putting that block in your car is epic. Priceless that it fit.
Filing the wire above the groove... mmmmm lol Whell there is your comment from the Netherlands! lol
Awesome instructional video!
I'm about to build a predator 212cc. I bought new springs, a cam and a rod for it. Ive never done this before so it should be fun, I watched a couple videos on how to do it and I need to pull like the entire thing apart.
I remember back in the day watching you swap the 4bt into your wife's Suburban and I remember that it ran great, but I think that this'll be ALOT of fun!
You know who would be watching this video screaming MINT 👌👌👌 😂 A 5.9 putting out 550-600hp that's gotta be pushing the limits. I wonder if it will live up to its name Cummapart 😄 You're lucky you've got a guy like Scott he does nice work it's done right.
I sharpen hockey skates and it’s cool to see Scott use the same Sharpie trick to check for a level surface and see where material is/isn’t being removed.
