    Jon Pertwee died a few days after the US broadcast of the TV Movie in 1996, but a few days before the UK broadcast. I believe the latter had a dedication to him. There's definitely one included as an easter egg on the DVD.

    This project, had/has been worked on for a number of years. It was made by a fan group. Intended to be the alternative adventure of the 2nd Doctor (The Two Doctors, The Five Doctors + other media) when the Second was used by the Time Lords, for a while. There was a 20 minute version that the BBC did include on the DVD of The War Games, with permission of the fan project.

    I composed the music. It was originally for the Dalek Masterplan stage play licenced by the BBC. The Devious team asked to use it, and then the BBC wanted this scene on a DVD release so I said yes as long as my version of the Doctor Who theme plays during the end credits. Great channel guys!

      Oh wow, well it sounds great. It’s an amazing job all round from everyone involved. We will have to look into the rest of it.

    Pertwee died in 1996, just before the TV movie was first transmitted.

      Imagine he was still alive today he would be the oldest doctor but the oldest doctor is Tom Baker

      I was 12 when he died and at that time he and McCoy were the only Doctors I really knew (I think the BBC must have repeated Pertwee's episodes in the early 90s because I loved him but barely recognised the others at that point) so when I think about him, I'm always 12 and he's no older than 76. It's very strange to imagine him older than Tom Baker is now.

    Jon Pertwee's last appearance as the third Doctor was a episode of Suprise Suprise shown the month before died.

    The actor playing the Time Lord with the glasses standing up was Peter Tuddenham,he is better known for being the voices of Orac,Zen and later Slave on Blake's 7.He has had parts on other shows including Doctor Who...

    For an amateur production, this is quite impressive, and I particularly like the regeneration scene. I don’t know if Pertwee was paid for his participation, but it’s good that he didn’t consider taking part in something like this beneath him. It dates from April 1995, so just over a year before Pertwee left us, and 25 years after he made his debut as the Doctor.

    Some context for this: Devious is an ongoing fan project started in the early 90s. It's set between The War Games and Spearhead from Space, with Tony Garner playing an interim incarnation: a Doctor 2.5, if you will. Initially intended to be a film, it's now expanded to a serial format, four episodes of a probable six of which are currently available on CZcams. It's very much an ongoing project, with additional modern effects being applied and various being shot over a period of decades, so there are some inconsistencies. If you're interested, the four episodes are easy enough to find.
    Also, the last thing Pertwee did was a sci-fi themed advert for Vodaphone in 1996, alongside Kyle Maclachlan of Twin Peaks fame.

      Yes,I thought I'd gone mad imagining it haha. I was waiting for the interim incarnation and it didn't happen, and I was sure it was longer.

    Pertwee died on 20 May 1996, so it would have had to have taken place before then. I remember it well because he died the same month that the TV Movie with Paul McGann aired. Today's fans don't remember "the curse" idea that circulated among fans in those days. It seemed as though whenever a new Doctor was cast, the oldest living Doctor died. Hartnell died the year Tom Baker was cast, Troughton died the same year McCoy was cast, and Pertwee died the same year McGann's story aired. Tom Baker broke the streak when he didn't die when Eccleston was cast in 2004.

    This is on the SE of Spearhead or War Games I think? It’s been in production for near 30 years now, i remember a DWM article about it back in the 90s😮.
    Someone on CZcams made an unflattering comment regarding JP’s gait as he leaves the TARDIS, which I can’t unread unfortunately so it’s been slightly sullied for me since, (I try not to chuckle but I can’t stop myself).
    It is a great notion though, covering a multitude of continuity sins and not many Fanvid creators can say they have an actual Doctor Who participate, that’s gotta give it some kudos.
    I’d imagine by the time it is completed it’ll have another fx makeover but Thomas will probably be eligible for his pension by then (age 93😂).

    I hope have this in either Troughton last season 6 blu Ray or Pertwee first season 7 blu ray box set either would be great. As extra or even extend episode.

    Pertwee had a very sore back / back injury when he filmed this, which is why he's clearly rather 'stiff' in his movements.. Can't remember where I read that. :)

    This is not the full version. There's a longer one with an interim incarnation with some other actor and dialogue.

    Serious question. Do you get more views on CZcams if you upload a thumbnail with you on the image pulling a face? Lots of CZcamsrs do it so does it help in any way?

    An impressive and intriguing effort. For me, however, it didn't quite work because I disagree, Jon is noticeably older-looking than he was in the 1970s. But a good try nevertheless.

      I agree. He looks a lot older even than when I met him in 1986, or when he starred in The Five Doctors. His hair was platinum blond (pale blond) when he started playing the Doctor, but it was totally white by the time of The Five Doctors, and some would say by the end of his era in the show. By the time this fan episode was made, he looked quite wizened in my opinion.

      That still works, it's part of the regenerative instability. After all that stress of tumbling and getting transported by the Time Lords, he was worn out, so the new body formed looking old. Then it gradually healed the agedness during the settling phase, to end up looking 20 years younger.

  • @user-mh8yt9iw1m
    @user-mh8yt9iw1m Před měsícem

    It doesn't work because the video of Pertwee they chose depicts him as a much older version long after the series.

    • @TheShallowProclamation
      @TheShallowProclamation  Před měsícem

      He was a lot older when he filmed scenes for this. You just have to suspend disbelief a bit.
