    YOU HELPED ME OUT SO MUCH THIS EASTER when I had to meet the whole family. Cousins and aunts, etc. I could cry. I was so nervous but using your tips, everything went well. I even came with a gift. I didn't gossip either. 😂 Although they invited me to their gossip table. Lol they invited me to the next get together so I think that's a good sign.

    I agree with your point, but, the issue of assisting in the kitchen or serving. I'm of the opinion that as your first visit, you are a visitor and should focus on them getting to know you more. Initiate conversations to start with, get to know them well... Assisting in the kitchen does not indicate a good wife. Other things do.

    I’m AA but my bf is Ghanaian so i’m really nervous to meet his parents because I really care about him and I love them and I don’t want my incorrect greetings to ruin our relationship. So I don’t know how to correctly greet parents because I don’t know if I should say hello nice to meet you ma’am or sir or nice to meet you auntie or maame because for my parents they thought it was weird when my cousin’s girlfriend was like “it was nice to meet you sir” because they’re not really too strict on greetings

    You mentioned that you were speaking from the perspective of an African girl. Are the rules different or are they more lenient on an Black-American female?

    • @HazonsTv
      @HazonsTv  Před 4 lety +8

      diva1247 That’s not how I meant it. Just saying that I am speaking from the perspective of the culture that I understand better. I didn’t want to generalize because I honestly don’t know what’s obtainable in other parts of the world as regards the topic.

      3 things that helped me: being patient, listening and observing and being open minded. Remember, what may be second nature or something you do without thinking, that same gesture/action may be considered rude or offensive in another culture. Learn and ask questions of your partner, not of the people you're meeting from his/her side the first time. All the time keep those 3 things in mind. Tbh most the stuff in this video are very sound and intelligent bits of advice in any culture. Best of luck!!

      Sharon Ivan .. Hi Sharon, thanks for reaching out. First thing, be relaxed and be yourself when you get to his family home. Don’t try to impress her too much. Before you leave for the visit ask your boyfriend to help with some tips on what his mom likes and also go through the tips in this video. With these, you would definitely be loved by her. I wish you the best of luck. 🙏🏼❤️
