    something to consider is using ABS glue on the closed end with a solid end cap and then using a solid end cap over the red screw on cap also- except drilling out the end so you can access the red screw on. As it will stick out a bit this will protect the wing nut and red cap from damage and it will be uniform on both ends for strapping down. SECURITY TIP: Paint the red cap black and it will be less noticeable and less likely to draw attention from thieves.

    Nice to see it up close. Great storage solution. Thanks.

    May want to consider a "well cap" instead of the inspection cap. you can put a small pad lock on a well cap.

    Crater Lake. I was there 1979 with a Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Wagon (fake wood on the sides). I have a photo from the exact same spot, scanned from slides. With the same dead tree in the foreground.

    the black plastic oxidizes and becomes brittle in the sun. not usually a problem in indoor plumbing. For the cost I'd go this way and replace when it starts cracking out. Or paint/shield from the sun. Red toilet pipe plug looks good.👍

    You could always move the tube up a little and bolt it directly to your skid plate using the existing big holes on the plate!.

      Most of the time they are referred to as “test plugs” used to temporarily block a pipe while it is cleaned or pressurized (like a sewer line/ toilet/ drain) or .,subjected to vacuum. Search for the brand Oatey

    Good video though, thanks.

    I tried this the other week and one of the hose clamps broke the first time out. Not confident in that. Going to either use a U-bolt or maybe a T-bolt clamp.

    • @WanderingBeast
      @WanderingBeast  Před 6 lety +1

      definitely different grades of clamps, once i went to a quality stainless, it was fine

      @@WanderingBeast Only took me two years to finally get back to mounting the front tool tube. Ended up using U-bolts and it's really solid. Now I just have to load it up with stuff :)

      I just made one for my 2nd Gen with 3 inch ABS. 16 inches in length seems like the perfect size.

    Where do you get the parts? I looked at lowes and no such inspection cover that I could find or black pipe for that matter.

      Cap: www.lowes.com/pd/Oatey-PVC-Test-Plug-Fitting/3880611 The pipe is just 4" PVC or ABS in the plumbing aisle

      Cant find abs at lowes? You're kidding right? That's got to be the dumbest thing I've read today!

      I just bought all the stuff at Lowe’s. The inspection caps are called test caps. At My Lowe’s they were very high on the shelves. Kinda hidden.

    ABS tube? Where do you get one of those? I just found the PVC at home depot. Hmmm. What was your reasoning behind this choice?
