Hiroyuki Sanada is such a gorgeous badass. He just commands your attention when he's in the scene. I am drawn in and just mesmerized by his presence.

One of my favorite Keanu Reeves movies and definitely underrated as well.

Amazing movie. Depressing ending that departs dramatically from typical Western film endings. But therein lies the key to understanding the ending.

If he man enough to kill the Shogun, he would’ve achieved Shogun status. But bro chickened out once again and took his own life instead. It showed that Honor has no status in the after life, only life itself is honored- honor is a huge flawed in human reasoning.
basically used honor as a self kill switch(strategy). Shogun were more powerful than the Emperor, eventhough the Emperor was considered divine, however more of a figure head. Moral of the story, live to seek Truth.

the orignal story is much better, does not have any magic, has ethical tales, moral tales, and honor tales.
I do not like the magic element in this movie.

surprised that the 47 Ronin movie was less than a success (16% according to Rotten Tomatoes)... i loved it, but then I have a great respext for the Japanese way of life back then adn there rituals and hierarchy..... not so since WW2.. but still admire the Japanese way of life.....
