  • SayIntentions, the company behind the realistic ATC for MSFS 2020 using AI and ChatGPT, have recently added a host of new features, including IFR support, Navigraph databases, integration with Active Sky, and much more. In this video, we take a look at how far it has come, and is it work the monthly price tag? Of course, it is going to be really hard not to compare it with Beyond ATC which has recently being released.

    'Say Intensions' looks/sounds excellent, but for me the one time cost for Beyond ATC was a no-brainer, as I'm happy with the standard voices/limited responses.

  • @GUnit2214
    @GUnit2214 Před měsícem +30

    It is an impressive piece of software. But i can't see myself paying 30$ monthly. It's way too expensive and as long as the competition gives the alternative for a one time payment despite it being a more on rail experience, it gets the job done and sounds good even with the basic voices, definitely a step up from the older ATC TTS based solutions.

    • @tgmjrtgmjr8221
      @tgmjrtgmjr8221 Před měsícem

      The alternative is cheaper for a reason, it just is not as value added or feature rich. With that said, you get what you pay for in SayIntentions. Beyond ATC is buggy at best and is not totally AI, it will get you by so to speak, but the $30 per month price tag is nothing for me actually. Sometimes you just have to pay for quality. Simming is not free, nor was it ever created to be "free". People always beech about money in flight simming, like paying $89 per year to Navigraph. I do and have for years, it's a great product with constant updates, they bought out SimBrief, and are constantly making their offerings better. SayIntentions is just a better, higher quality product and company. Period. No comparison really, other than Beyond ATC is another company with a similar product in the same industry.

    • @GUnit2214
      @GUnit2214 Před měsícem +3

      Sure that's your opinion. But BATC has a lot of value for it's 30$ price tag, one time payment. Oh yes sir it does. I've been using P2ATC ever since it was released and that was 60$ at launch, not even factoring the amount of money needed to be paid for TTS voices that you had to get if you wanted to achieve a decent level of immersion. And even then you could get by only as much until it started to get repetitive... . So saying it's not as value or feature rich when it does what it says on the tin and gives you 200+ voices that sound really good, that's kinda petty of you.
      As for SI, sure it's impressive and that's where it stops for us. The rest of the features it has will probably never be used by your casual simmer. Plus some of them will also be implemented in BATC. Sure it's cool you can ask different things including if the controller saw the game last night, but does that warrant 30$ a month? I honestly would say no, i can live without it. Most of us are just looking for a ATC product that will get us from point A to B, with the proper instructions and believable voices/responses, that is affordable and better yet a one time payment deal. BATC does just that and it has quite a following. Plus it's still in development and getting better day by day. Out of 10 flights done since owning it, i only had 1 where i encountered a slight inconvenience.
      Of course people are beech baroning about money, you do have to understand everybody has a budget and different needs, that's where OPTIONS are welcome. I see it this way, 30$ for me on a monthly basis, for one year, means that with 300$, i could probably get a better flight stick/system, or an accessory for my flight setup, but still able to buy a ATC solution like BATC since it's a one time payment.
      Navigraph is another thing and let's be honest it's not necessary, BUT it is useful and also pretty affordable. I mean if i had to choose between subscribing to Netflix and Navigraph, i would choose Navigraph, since i use it more. But then again other simmers might not cause they can get their charts, be it outdated from the internet. Or use other free/less costly flight planning solutions and get Netflix instead, so they can watch a movie while they are in their cruise phase xD. Not everyone wants to fly by the book and with up to date data.
      Back to SI vs BATC. I'll end with this, SI is like a luxury/sports car. Looks nice, powerful and fun to drive, but not affordable to everyone. Do you need it? Most would say no. Would you want it, probably yes. BATC is like your daily driver, let's say a VW, simple yet effective, reliable, it gets the job done and is affordable. So you will see more of those in traffic.
      Nobody is actually saying SI is bad, but it is indeed expensive for what it is and not everyone will commit to a subscription based service if decent alternatives exists. If SI will get to let's say, a Navigraph level of subscription i'm sure more people will change their minds, including myself. Until then i'll stick to BATC and look forward to it's updates.

    Gotta love how the hottest thing in flight sim right now is realistic ATC whereas operating the radios IRL flying is easily one of the most annoying and frustrating things about being a pilot. Between the signal sometimes being trash , mumbling ATC and Pilots , PTT at the same time as another aircraft on the same frequency..... the list of frustrations go on and on. Now having an AI copilot handle the radios on multi crew commercial flights in the sim would be fun and immersive but just adding radio to the workflow of operating a complex multi crew aircraft on my own in the sim is not necessarily something I have loads of fun with.

    As much as the BeyondATC premium voice pricing seems complicated, I like the idea that you can you use it as and when you want and use default the rest of the time. This means you can not use premium for a few weeks and then come back to it where you'll still have the remaining characters/points. With Say Intentions, you're effectively paying whether you use it or not.

    Got both, and although I think Beyond Atc is more suitable for my type of gameplay and frequency flying, it is lacking for VFR at the mo. I tried the 24hr demo of Say Intentions a few days ago, and my black square TBM actually gave me a runaway trim failure. Wasn’t even aware that was a thing, however with some significant control issues, I thought I would test out a mayday, vectors back to the closest airfield and even requesting the tower to roll the equipment.
    Say intentions worked perfectly and even confirmed the equipment was being rolled as well as outside emergency services. That by itself was impressive enough for me to start a subscription straight away. Once Beyond atc gets to the similar level, then I will quite likely move over to that, purely due to cost. But wow that first attempt was mindblowing.

    I have Say Intentions and BATC but use FSHud mainly lol. The price isn't an issue for SI. Its impressive. But FSHud is the only one that truly "knows" at all times where your plane is in regard to all the other traffic (injected by FSLTL). To see real traffic and hear real traffic with real destinations that you can track (lil nav map) is very cool. Really immersive to have ATC tell you "hold position" on taxi and not just run through other traffic as if they don't exist. Then to see ATC vector you in with proper sequencing and spacing is just awesome.
    Yeah the voices aren't fancy but the reality outweighs that for me. So until they both BATC and SI get the traffic injection worked out they haven't separated themselves yet from the pack imho. Although I think they will! Great vid

Response times are now averaging six seconds. Costs look to be lowered significantly, announcement coming shortly. Also, bear in mind, that if you use the premium voices in BATC, you'll rack up a significant ongoing cost. Why? Explain this please? Because you can not afford it? Seriously, it's a better product and flight simming was never meant to be "free" or "cheap". It's a business model, you pay for what you get, quality and value and feature rich. Just because it's an AI generated product does not make it free.

      @@tgmjrtgmjr8221 I agree you get what you pay for, but, $30 a month for some people is unaffordable and the market demand ultimately determines the success of a product. If enough people are happy to pay $30, and they get the value from it then its fine, if not, either costs have to come down (usually at the expense of quality, size, features etc) to make it viable. The good news for AI is that it's pretty fresh and still finding its feet in the market. It will almost certainly come down. Remember the internet itself used to be unaffordable for many and then one day phone companies started doing free calls (in the uk at least) after certain times and it exploded. I know Say Intentions are improving the response time of the product and hats off to them for their work. Also they are confident that the new ChatGPT4o will improve response time which is also great; however, why do some youtubers insist on editing their videos to show near instantaneous response? Everytime in this video you made a call, you cut to a different view where there is no frame of reference to understand the real response time. It's very disingenuous and not doing any favours to Say Intentions who are making every effort to improve the delay to something more natural and realistic. If you are going to edit in this way you should have a note on the video saying that the video has been edited to compress the response times. For instance, request a runway. I filed a Simbrief plan with a runway, lets say, 26R.. BeyondATC ATIS had departures from the other direction, 8L (which was wrong). I waited nearly 20 minutes hoping for the BeyondATC ATIS to change... it didn't. I switched back to SayAI and it was perfect. So I continued to use SayAI for that flight.
