- If you're looking for an alternative to the AR 10 platform for a semi-automatic hunting rifle then check out the Browning BAR rifles. They have several different models. In this video we look at the hells canyon speed model in 7mm Remington Magnum. The Browning has a more traditional look and feel. I find the models without a box magazine to be my favorites. They carry easier and are lighter than most AR10 rifles. Also with a barrel in the 22 to 24 inch range they get more velocity out of the cartridge. They come in more standard hunting calibers like 243, 7mm-08, 270, 30-06, 7mm rem mag, and even 300 win mag.
I live in Washington State where there is a ban on most types of semi Auto firearms. The Bar mk3 DBM was still legal so I got one!
I’ve got a bar mk3 walnut stock blued barrel in 300 win mag! Never had a problem with it cycling ammo! I am thinking about getting the bar mk3 hells canyon in 30-06 soon and that’s why I came across this video! Good review on your rifle sir!
I have bar 30 ^ 06 with see thru scope mounts and a wide view Redfield i love it
The DBM model only comes in .308
I can guarantee that the bar feels way more comfortable and less awkward shouldering and shooting then my ARs. I own several semi autos but still won’t deer hunt with any semi auto. Pumps and bolts are my go to rifles. I can count on one hand over four decades on how many times I needed a follow up shot and never been hindered by pumping and cycling bolts. Just don't trust the reliability of any semi auto. I have a couple of AR 10s that will shoot .2" to .3" at 200 yards all day long but it just feels awkward to carry and shoulder in a hunting scenario. A normal stocked gun like the Bar I'm n sure would feel more natural to shoulder and shoot. My ar10s I have $550 ea in upp.er and lowers combined before adding a 2 pound trigger, magaine, rings, and optic.
bar ii safari is the most beautiful rifle ever made in a semi.
The BAR is a great hunting rifle but probably not "tacticool" enough for those who think the deer woods are combat zones.
Some people want a gun they can defend their family with and hunt with
Is it really terrible that a guy might want higher capacity and might like shooting as a hobby and not just for hunting?
It's weird a guy might want to have a rifle capable of doing more than one thing.
Browning in made in Belgium the factories over there use the latest manufacturing processes…hammer forged chrome line chamber and barrel ….no one in the USA has these machines to do this work and also the incredible tight tolerances ….this is the difference and what makes the bar way more precise and better of a rifle …and unfortunately there are discontinuing the bar … get it while you can
The BAR in .243 was discontinued
I didn't know that. That was a really good caliber for this rifle. Thanks for the comment and the information.
@@southeastwhitetails but I also have my BAR in .308
My bad the BAR Safari 2 the .243 is no longer a option. There's a couple more calibers that you can no longer get in a BAR Safari 2.
I checked on Browning's website two minutes ago and the .243 is available in the BAR
@@Joe-hb4bcok well maybe it's just in the safari 2 that Browning quit making.
Maybe you don't know, but you can get five and ten round magazines for the AR-10. Furthermore, you could buy the Ruger version of the AR-10 and it is much lighter and way less expensive than that overpriced Daniel Defence boat anchor.
Maybe I do know. Maybe I have a few Rugers. Maybe I still like the the DD better. Maybe... The Internet is a place where it seems that everyone wants to say what someone else likes is bad. Maybe... I don't do that. Use what you like, I was just showing a more traditional configured semi automatic hunting rifle. Thanks for the comment.
Sounds is terrible
Thanks for the feedback. I don't have good video equipment. I probably should do a sound check before I post a video. Thanks for watching.
A gun like that needs a good scope on it not a piece of shit vortex. Get a Zeiss
I took a deer with this rifle this weekend at 5:50 right before dark. Not saying it is as good as Zeiss, I have a few of those on different rifles. The deer didn't know the difference. Have you had bad experiences with vortex optics? If so please leave that in the comments so people can read and hear your experience and get more information to help make more informed decisions when we are shopping for hunting gear. Please try and be factual and keep the language family friendly. Thanks.
@@Nick-wn1xw yep I don't figure to see anything sensible come back from this person. I've taken deer with gunwerks rifles that have kahles scopes on them and I've taken deer with cva rifles with Tasco scopes lol. People that make it seem like you have to buy super expensive gear to hunt and shame people that don't or can't have deep rooted personality issues. Run what you brung get out there and enjoy God's outdoors.
