    When I was a youngster, I always dreamt of getting a BAR in .338WM. I had visions of living/hunting in bear and elk country and it would be great medicine for stopping a bruin's charge. Alas, my vision changed and such a rifle would be superfluous in the hot lowlands I inhabit.
    I am certain your rifle will not become envious of the others getting more use than it.
    Great shooting, as always.

    I also weep at the reluctance of Browning to continue with the finest semi auto rifle available. I have owned several over the years and miss each and every one. Because of the cancellation I will pick up a caliber or two to keep in the family. Youngsters need what you and I will leave behind. I'm due to get my PAL (Canadian FAC) in a month or so, and I had my eye on this rifle (in 30-06). Chances of a large calibre semi auto becoming legal up here except for the Benelli R1 in 300 WM, are rare. Hopefully 3D printing improves so parts can be created by owners in the future. I know these aren't plastic, that's why I'm saying I hope 3D printing improves...
    The BAR is a huge part of American history, with continued practical use. Novice hunters who fire wide on their first shot can take follow-ups without letting the deer hoof it 5 miles before the bolt is ready again.

    In my limited 25-06 experience, the 2 rifles I have in it shoot much differently. My single shot HnR with 26in barrel shoots 100gr corelocks at 1/2 moa and shoots everything else horribly. My vanguard with 24in barrel doesn't seem to care much and shoots everything around 3/4in or just under. Just thought that was interesting, have a good day.

    I have a question for you. My friend has a few browning bar’s and I’m considering buying one. I have always liked them. The one I’m considering buying was made in 1969 and is a 30-06. I have never hand loaded for a semi auto and should add im fairly new to reloading as well. . I’m wondering how to safely test loads for this because I have heard they are a little more sensitive to pressure than a bolt gun. Thank you for your videos!

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Quite the contrary, the BAR's have a 7 lug rotating bolt that is very strong. The only reloading issue is the case prep and length trim, then your chamber loaded cartridge length limits. The cases must be full length sized and then checked with a case gauge to insure proper feeding. Because of the gas piston operation you Do Not want to "light load' the cartridge, The BAR needs sufficient pressure to fully retract the bolt for proper ejection and loading the next round. Start in the middle of the recommended load data from the bullet maker and work up for both function and accuracy. The 30-06 round is not a finicky cartridge to load as it accepts the most types of powders listed in the manuals and has a 60-K pressure limit. Good luck to you.
