I know all this but needed my Untamed fix.
Same, i watch this guy over and over even though I'm know to the point its not new info. Untamed strength kind of makes me want to move out of my garage gym to a powerlifting gym. Also love the channel Brandon!
@@dylanstandridge3201 thanks dude!
No one asked.
That phonecall to Rogue fitness 🤣😭💀💀💀
"Jesus Christ spotting you"
Me, the next time I fail a squat:
JESUS TAKE THE BAR!
TAKE IT FROM MY BACK!
'CAUSE I CAN'T LIFT IT ON MY OWN!
Fucking killed me😂
My power rack is like a second home to me. Truly the centerpiece of any respectable home gym
100% Agree.
For a homegym there is really only 1 option here.
Put a charcoal grill in it
I only have squats stands, barbell, bumpers, platform and pullup-bar. No bench no rack
bench and powerrack are overrated I said it.
I never bench and mostly do weightlifting and not powerlifting.
So everything is from the stands or off the floor
@@Goriaas You don't *need* a power rack but it is a very versatile piece of kit. Obviously it's of less use to olympic weightlifting than powerlifting, in which you have to bench press, and most people who are into strength training or gaining muscle also generally like to do other forms of pressing at various inclines. Racks are also great for pull ups/chin ups, plus you can add a variety of attachments to a rack and do almost any exercise you could possibly want on it.
Ultimately if all you want to exercise your muscles though, even barbells and plates are overrated. There are so many other ways of doing that same thing.
I want to get to the point where I am strong enough to be able to be murdered by the equipment if I fail!
Just play lawn darts with a 2lbs dumbbell for that m8.
Just bench and have pretty much any bar land on your neck.
You’d be surprised how low that threshold is
Just bench with 135lbs and drop it on your throat would be enough. Not that much really.
I cracked up at “I’m just gonna yolo it”
LMAO... Jesus Christ is my spotter. Funniest thing I've heard this month.
I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the czcams.com/users/postUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B
Video summary
General training- use a power rack
Prepping for a meet- use a combo rack
Squatting westside style/prepping for a meet- use a monolift
Unless the fed you lift in doesnt use combo rack...
Watching barbell gym fails is one of the most unsettling things, ever! Ugh, I was hurtin' for those folks! Ouch!
Good to know I can curl in the power rack! I’m off to a busy gym to do it right now!
This was really informative. Thank you! Looking forward to rest of this series.
4th option is a yoke , I use mine for squats, ohp, bench, pull ups, yoke walks and more. Max load may be comparatively lower but functionality is undeniably greater.
3:24 Stewart sounds like his Get-Up-&-Go has got up and went.
Was waiting for the new video, i need to be reminded to train untamed
The comedic value in this is great😂 also very informative!
You can curl in the monolift without stepping out*
Lol monolith
@@eclipsez0r damn!
All good points that don’t apply to me cuz I can’t afford any workout equipment beyond a used kettlebell so ima go do banded swings supersetted with proletariat crying amrap
You do you man
Kettlebells are pretty cool man
Great series Alan - look forward to the rest of the lessons 🤓
I like that Adam guy, really down to earth, hope he shows up on future videos.
This whole time, I thought Alan was saying, "Train on time" rather than "Train Untamed" which makes more sense.
For one vid id like for Thrall to say “Train Untamed” in a monotone normal voice. Watch us all freak out hahaha
Really missed your videos Allan!!
Love the videos Alan. Keep it up.
I'm very happy with my rogue sml-2, its all i need in my home gym!
Very informative and descriptive video, nice work keep it up
Thanks for the advice. I'm glad I bought a power rack now!
Thank you alen for your time
Damn good video. Very informative. I have a combo rack but I will b purchasing a power rack soon. Thanks Alan.
Great video Allen!
Great information and great video. Thanks
3:28 If every customer service phone line was subjected to at least 3 to 5 Adam Pauls a day their affableness would skyrocket
Subjected to? Bruh, Adam Pauls are what customer support prays for: knows what his question is, asks it, and isn't a douche.
The number of people that get impatient because the guy on the phone can't read their mind is astounding.
Fantastic video!
This outta be good. I'm kinda in the market. Thank you for covering this topic. I'm a BMX racer and I need to start training like one.
Good stuff dude.
😂😂I love the call to rogue. I had to call them and 1000% best customer support I've ever experienced.
Thanks for addressing that “the spotters are also easy to remove when you do squats” line. That’s why I came here haha
The phone call was hilarious!
Squatting outside of the rack with bumper plates. There's a VERY strong incentive to stand back up, but failing and dumping the bar behind won't kill you or put a hole in the floor.
Can confirm
Thank you so much for the information!!!!! I couldn't get a clear answer on using the spotter arms when squatting with the combo rack. Many lifters were giving me different answers some saying use the arms others say to use a spotter but just inherently it felt less stable to set the barbell on the arms in the bottom of the squat than say a monolift with the straps or in a power rack with the pins. It's good to know to use a spotter with a combo rack and pins/straps on the others :-)
thanks for the video and info. i subscribed
I can squat and bench just fine with my rogue s-1 squat rack and can even do rack pulls although not as low as I would like. Would love to have a combo rack though!!
I’m a fan of half racks, they do everything a power rack does and you can take off the spotters and use a lot more of that space for cleans or snatches etc.
the phone call killed me! xD
Its the mono flying thru the air at the end for me 😳
And here I am with three pallets screw together in a U shape for my 'rack'
Better than nothing. I don’t lift that heavy but I’m really pushing what I can lift of the floor. It takes me a few tries to get the weight over my shoulders to squat, and almost tears my arms off when I put it back down. I’ll have to build a rack from some pallets in my garden lol.
I just love the look and the awesome style of a powerlifting combo rack so Even tho im a strongman and not a powerlifter its my go to for all rack exercises😅😍🤩
You can TECHNICALLY bench outta mono I’ve done it in a shirt when I didn’t have anyone there to help. But I had long enough arms to do so
are you an alien with 2 m long arms or wtf?
@@michalbutora573 😂😂 no if you drop it all the way down you can use it to bench out of. I do have long arms though
did your arms get any shorter
Wow! Alan and Jason Blaha both have racks! It would be totally awesome if they made a lifting compilation video together 👍💪
Happier than ever to have chosen a power rack after watching those combo/mono rack fails.
I know it is not cool but gym fails you included into this video made me laugh so hard especially the last 2 :D :D
Tanks Alan!
For while I use just stands, but I have just bumper plates. I am thinking about a half-rack...
Grazie
Buy a power rack basically.
My gym has a mono lift with adjustable safety straps, the feet of the mono lift are long enough that you can dump the bar into it and it won't fall over
Hello Alan! In the power rack, have you considered the option of using the monolift accessory and thus being able to do everything in the rack? even Box squat and special bars workout ... I do it like that on a monster lite and there is enough space ... congratulations on your channel!
I love love LOVE my power rack!
Actually, I use Monolifts for Bench. ATX makes a monolift, which has a counterweight on the top, so it swings back automatically without a spotter operating the monolift. This is quite useful for heavy bench if you don't have a spotter to unrack the weight, because unracking the weight on the bench can be quite taxing, and in addition to that it can also make you lose your tention on your arch. So when you are benching without a training partner, a monolift is pretty useful for bench in my opinion
My daddys shed! Lmao!
I got a power rack (well, really a rogue s2 squat stand) instead of joining a gym because it has spotter arms. All of the bench presses at the LA fitness in my area do not have spotter arms and there is only one power rack with bent pins- no thanks. The power racks are extremely versatile and let you train to failure. I just ordered a universal landmine attachment from pro maxima so i can do belt squats with a dip belt
I upgraded my Rogue SML-2 Squat stand to a RML-390 and I don't regret the decision. My main reason for it is that I had to keep moving the stored plates on it. I learned the lesson of needing quite a bit of counterweight when I started doing banded rack pulls (which I have found to be crazy intense and one of the best lifts I have found to do for lower back). I love the spotter arms. I just got done with a 2 month stretch of pin pressing, and it was soooooooo helpful in pushing my bench press (and press in general) up, especially since I do have a reliable training partner. I, myself, found myself at the commercial gym that I still have a membership at and questioned why they don't have equipment with spotter arms. Since I started lifting with a buddy I work with and "upgrading" his garage with new specialized bars, I have really begun to see the limitations in training solely at a commercial gym. I feel like I have so much versatility in what I can do now.
Jesus Christ spots me in all of my lifts! Best line of the video!😁👍
i got a power rack, olympic barbell, and standerd dumbells in my garage gym. lets me train every bodypart to, or near to, failure without needing a spotter. it isnt cheap, but its effective. the only thing i feel i need is a pull setup so i can do more than deadlifts, db rows, and bb rows for back, but so far im really happy. would reccomend one to anyone looking for a home gym setup.
"If you fail its only Jesus spotting you" hahaha
My favorite part was the call to Rogue.
I’m so shocked he got someone on the phone at all, waited on hold for an hour 2 times for rogue and then the phone just disconnected me !
Lol
“It’s just Jesus Christ spotting you 🤣”
Love your vids
Missed you a lot, Howyadoinbuddy !!!
Man that whole phone customer service thing was so funny 🤣...omg
What about a power rack with built in cable pulls? Now that's handy, have one for my homegym.
ended up having someone custom fab me a rack in jhook mount for my rack so i grip the bar wide on squat
I want to see what that looks like.
As someone who does a bit of weightlifting. All I need is a simple squat stand and if I fail just dump the barbell behind the back.
I use a rogue monster lite rack with the rogue monolift arm attachment, dont need to walk out my squats, and its like getting a handoff on benchpress.
As a 6'6" 340 pound lifter, I bump my R3 on squat walkout all the time but don't mind cus I feel safer with the bolted down safety pins
What about using the Rogue Monolift attachment for the squat too in a power rack ? :)
Power rack nice , thenks
The fake typing had me crying on that Rogue customer service rep, LOL.
POWER RECK - THIS IS IT !!!!
Power Rack (ATX-PRX-655) is my best bay for homegym. I can go for 'one more' without worries, it gives you really safety feeling with which you will make progress.
squat stands pros and cons? im working out in a spare bedroom on the second floor :)
I just bought a power rack over the weekend and put it all together.....in other words the choice I made was perfect in my case
A combo rack also takes up a lot less space than a power rack and is cheaper. That being said, you can also get wall mounted fold out racks though they are more expensive and can't be moved easily.
Have done a lot of research trying to find out how to buy gear for my small apartment.
S/O to Trey at Rogue he got me hooked up with replacement parts when UPS lost part of my order. Good folks over there.
the gym i go to has a rogue power rack with a monolift attachment
I use a foldaway combo rack because I workout in a shared room at home. If I fail a squat, I just lower myself down to the safeties instead of dumping the barbell. Maybe it's possible to do that coz I don't lift heavy (newb lifter here).
Just “ Jesus Christ “ spotting you. Haha
Alan please do video on self unracking the bench press. I can do 225 with a lift off but I can't even unrack it. Please help.
Where would you put squat stands in the mix?
6’7 300lb d1 lineman here, never had an issue with a walkout
3 years later I comment 🤣 I have a small outbuilding. My “gym” is approx 6’ x 8’ of rubber mat with a power rack in middle. Do all exercises in rack, apart from overhead press. Only other piece of kit I have is a dipping bar attachment for the power rack. I train alone and can do it safely.
I don’t think this video had enough ads. LOL!!
love u alan
What do you think of diy power rack with 4x4s?
CZcams subtitles described your gym as untamed string...
EPIC!!!!!!!
You can also hang rings from a power rack.
which rack is best for practicing slav squats?
I used to hate your outro but after all these years, it's what I say when I end phone calls.
There are monolifts for bench too!
Combo with boxes either side as safety for squatting ?
Wow, he posted a video
Yoke with spotter arms!
so u can remove the bench in the combo rack then?
@6:51 the best part of this video is on the left wearing black! >_
