@@craigarthur7599 that's why I said the country needs coach carters. Only people like him can help and save such individuals. Fathers can give love which is probably the most precious thing in the world and guidance too. But a coach like coach Carter can give them a life. That's right an entire life of security and happiness and this knowledge isn't just for a few people or people who don't have fathers but everyone. That's the value of a true guru in life. A guru can give something that probably even loving parents can't. This current generation having so many lost and confused people can be given direction by only someone like coach carter.

All highschoolers really need is respect and being taught correctly and strictly like coach carter. If i was to teach i would def be a coach carter, i would inspire and teach em life aint easy. Give em all the facts thy need in life so thy can hve sme type of guide after highschool.
In my highschool, teachers who give respect and taught us well became the best teachers and we even shouted out their names at our graduation. My school was a little ghetto also but things change if you get sme good teachers who teach us right. Teachers really do make a difference in all of our lives and it really matters because the best teachers will forever be remembered. I remember my great teachers names more than alot of my old highschool mates names. Teachers just dnt get paid enough for me to want to teach...

They reacted as though Coach was demanding a high price when the reality was he was simply making sure they graduated. When it shows the scene in the library and he lays down the numbers. 50% graduation, maybe 1 student in every class progressing to college, and he wanted them to be in the 50% that made it, that had a choice. In sports you're only required to uphold a 2.0 GPA. If you fall below that you cannot play anyways. He required a 2.3 so that their school was higher than the state standard. Meaning if they scored low on the SAT or simply just average, they'd still get into college on basketball scholarships being a starter or not, considering their backgrounds that is very important for their future. 2.0 you have to score high on the SAT otherwise you get nothing from colleges unless you're a starter or a standout athlete from a standout school. Of course if you are Zion Williamson some rich school will do it for you. But these were kids that were meant to screw up and end up in jail like the stats scene suggests.

Please forgive me for being politically incorrect, that being said… the reason so many young men go to prison in towns comparable to the one in this movie is because the crime rates are so high. Police don’t just pick up people off the street and throw them in jail. They did once but not anymore. It would have been nice if this movie acknowledged the flaws of the community rather than implying the system is solely to blame for the poor future of young black men.
