You look way healthier Pete, great to see you cutting down and from what it seems - Enjoying training naturally again. There's a reason you were a top 3 deadlifter in the world during your prime. You never know...we might see you setting records at 85 kilo class after some time :D
I hate what the internet has done to the image of normal lifters. I'm 25, 175cm, 87kg deadlifting 500. But nowadays it's a shitty deadlift because everyone on the internet is a genetic freak or roided up to their socks.
Good to see you reaping the benefits of being natty. Your updates have been the inspirational catalyst to diversify my own training, cut down, and get more running in. Thanks for everything, bud, and congratulations on the lift!
I think especially deadlifting and running isn't the worst combo and that you can get suprisingly strong while doing all that cardio. I'm an ultrarunner doing 100 miles/week. I was off deadlifts for about 2-3 years. Just did some light squats for maintenance. My old pb was 260 kg. In my 3rd session back to deadlifts I lifted 200 kg. Now aiming for 220 kg. As I've lost weight since I just did strength training my bench is weaker and seems to 100 % correlate with my bw. Squat is weaker but not terrible. But deadlifts seems to be pretty "running proof". So keep it up, I'm enjoying following your progress. I think you can get stronger than you think while progressing in the running👊
i love your videos. i like to hear your journey. detailed explanation like this is great because it helps somebody like me to be able to understand how to get there.
man, you are looking good and healthy in this video... especially around the eyes. great to see, that you are doing well, still going strong on the deadlift and you being in such a good mood, is contagious.
I finally pulled again after 10 months of a torn glute and major sciatic nerve trauma still in recovery. It was only 200 lbs, but it went up like a school book dozens of times lol. *The next day, my bad leg, on top of everywhere else, felt 10x better.* As I heal, I will incorporate conventional again because I am confident I can hit 500 lbs now; natty unless you count THC as a PED which admittedly, it can be. *On a side note, it's also shocking to see you looking so young and healthy now because I'm 45, look like a kid and when I first started following you...well now you finally look younger than me to me. Now you'd pass for 26 and honestly, it does give credit to people claiming steroids can be used safely.* You weren't using them safely and I seriously doubt you will have any permanent consequences show up in 30 or 40 years by stopping the bad habits young.
I think playing two different styles of training against each other creates a good balance, you just dial each one up or down a little bit at a time until you are consistently hitting the sweet spot.
Nowhere near that level, but I once came back from a failed single. My cns was fried, the next day was like I got the flue. I felt sick for 2 days. So yeah, even if you can somehow manage to come back from a failed heavy single, it's usually not worth it. Accept that you don't have your best day and do something else, maybe some rep work.
Makes sense, I had the same issue my last workout I hit a new pr, I knew another particular pr was there but the tank was gassed and could t get it even though in in one it’s there
No surprise really all those deadlifts for years have paid off and stayed with you, its obviously your strongest lift. The only bad news is now youve got to work on your bench and squat!
man, i weigh just under 200 and pulled 500 for the first time the other day... can't imagine how heavy 600 feels haha. fkn nice! my hip has been awful while squatting so maybe i'll try those split squats and see how that goes
Why were you shocked Pete? Is it because of the weight loss or I might be missing something I did ff a little at the beginning of video lol…great work by the way! Edit:lol ok I just needed to continue the video!🙌🏻👍
right now my pr is 585 but that was months ago right now i think im in low 600s. im 21 training to be a strongman. im going to pull 300kg in august. i like your videos they make me nice
@@RustyIsScared your gonna see. im not 100% healed but i can train normally i did 550x5 deadlift last sunday and my back feels fine. i swear im going to pull 300. you only motivate me by doubting me
Regarding CNS fatigue when retaking maxes definitely true for the most part but imo the more technical a lift is the higher the chance of a successful retake. For example at this years worlds strongest man on the dumbbell almost everybody had to do their final one twice
In competition you're going to get a bigger adrenaline rush, particularly on that kind of stage, so that's one factor. But usually it doesn't work just from what I've seen!
Dude you look way younger since getting off the sauce. Lookin good.
Thanks brother, its been a great transformation so far!
Took the words out of my mouth man. Way to go Pete 💪🏼💪🏼

I may do a 90 kg meet way at the end of the year! I'm toying with the idea.
He looks like a teenager hahaha kudos Pete im happy for you!
Night and day difference in your skin. Looking healthy and very good Pete!

I love honest people like Pete.
We are so happy to see you doing well and maintaining your health!
Great lift, Pete. Have you thought about having Kevin Oak on the podcast? I've probably asked before as he's a favorite of mine

I’m happy to see your hormones recovering. Seems like a scary feeling. As the years go by, I’m happier with my decision to not run a steroid cycle.
It's kind of a pain to have to take shots all the time. That is one thing I don't miss whatsoever!

Not only healthier as people said, you look happier too
In a pinch you can always throw a washcloth or one layer of towel under the belt to tighten it.
Just realized the washer/dryer pics, love it!😂
There is another guy that misses a heavy single, comes back and gets it.... you all know him... Eric Bugenhagen. It's a mindset!
Hey Pete, have you ever thought about doing a Squat tutorial video?
Matched my deadlift pr 455 pounds 2x in the last two weeks. Next week is deload. Gonna pr in 6 weeks.
Would be great if you could get Anabolic Doc on your show.
Would be fire 🔥
Hell yes!
Looking healthy as fuck pete
Nice job Pete!!
Killing it!
Your turn to get it done tomorrow!

@@ramtrucks721 thanks for your time!
Good stuff Pete 👍
Hey Pete, do your remember what your heaviest deadlift was before you touched any PEDs?
It was over 700# as I recall.
Amazing Pete! Have you ever thought about having Liam Newell on the podcast, would be cool to see you two interact.
Yes! We have talked about it for sure!
Absolutely smashing it, mate! Looking much healthier too.
Thank you brother! Trying to get on your level with 265 kg speed pulls haha
@Pete Rubish you're too kind. Though I've a sneaking suspicion that your prime self may have been ever so slightly stronger than me, lol.
Bill is gangsta
Gj on 600.

Pete! im sure youve seen ct fletchers videos somewhere in time; would you ever interview him? hes had pretty extensive natural and ped experience.
Absolutely I would. It would just be hard getting his attention!
You can def tell the weight is down in the face. Never thought you looked bad before but your face seems much more lean. You look younger
Design a barbellapparel T-shirt with the washing machines
Lol. A t-shirt design with washing machines with a loaded barbell infront of it would unironically be awesome 🤘🏻

Could we straight up get a shirt with the washer and dryer side by side? I'd buy that jazz and so would alot of others
He used to have PR Strength shirts with them on there. I have one 🙂

Your voice is sounding abit deeper mate, Definitely a good sign that your testosterone has gone up!
Dude get down to 199 just to do it!
Up
600 at 220 is already insane but if you can get 651 at 205 then just damn
I'll be trying!
gotta a feeling that the next testosterone test is gonna be pleasant
