    ✍️ Thanks for Hoas for sponsoring this video! I've been living in a Hoas student apartment for the last 7 years and I couldn't be more satisfied. They offer great value with quality apartments with good locations while still keeping the rents at super affordable levels.
    Apply for student apartments in the Helsinki area from Hoas: tinyurl.com/ydxaoue5
    University students in Finland enjoy a huge amount of great benefits and discounts that are intended to make their life cheaper while still living in great locations close to their university campuses. A key part of this is the non-profit based student housing system that we have in Finland. Student apartments are not only cheaper in terms of rent but they also offer great additional services and discounted prices for utilities. All of these benefits can add up to tens of thousands of euros over your studies and it is really important that you apply for student apartments as early as possible.

    Hey Oliver, what was your experience on waiting for a family apartment at Jatkasaari? I have submitted my application two weeks ago, and now I wonder If I'll have a chance to get an offer (and couple of other areas) by end of September.

      Hey and thanks so much for the comment. Unfortunately i cant really do anything about this situation. The only thing i can do is to extend my best tips for getting an apartment. First, do take into account that Hoas assigns apartments based on need - not on a queue. This means that if your daughter is well of financially (not assuming anything - just noting how this works), it would take a while before she will be offered an apartment. This would be because there are many other people who have a more urgent need for a student flat. Second, please make sure that she does not limit the selection or types of apartments that she is applying for. Being too picky on e.g. the location or type of apartment will slow the process down significantly. Some buildings and areas are incredibly sought after and selecting a few areas might lead into a situation where she will not be offered an apartment at all (because people rarely move out of those buildings). Third, please make sure to also apply for University of Helsinki Student Union (AYY) apartments: www.ayy.fi/en/housing These are apartments meant specifically for the University of Helsinki students. The amount of apartments is not as large but there are also not as many people applying. This will maximise her chances of getting an offer.
      I hope that this helps 👌

    Hi
    I'm a student at VAMK but I reside in Helsinki as I have a full time job there, but apparently students from other cities do not get to acquire apartments such as my case.
    Is there a way to acquire some housing benefits for a student with same case as me?

But i still didnt get the verification code. Few days back I received an email saying that my application has been withdrawn because I applied twice. Can you pls request HOAS to rectify this issue. Do take into account that phd students are not able to apply for most student apartments. Those are mostly reserved for bachelors and masters students. There are, however, also some exceptions to this rule.

    Hi, thanks for sharing. I recently just finished my associate degree in Us. Do you know if any universities in Finland could accept this score instead of SAT? Thank you so much.☺️☺️☺️☺️

    • @RoadtoFinnish
      @RoadtoFinnish  Před rokem

      Hey Katelin and thanks for the question. This depends fully on the university as each has their own application criteria. For example, many universities do not use the SAT's anymore and you would need to check the application criteria individually from each degree programme's website. Having said this, please note that the application criteria used by universities are very strict and there is no flexibility there. So unless it is explicitly stated that you could replace the SAT's or something else with an associate degree (or equivalent), this will not be the case.

Finland is one of the leading countries in environmental sciences and technologies so im sure you will find interesting jobs here - i just cant name any because i dont know the field well enough.
