    great car and fantastic driver, what type of trans is that?

    • @Scootermagoo
      @Scootermagoo Před 6 lety

      2 speed powerglide or turbo 400 most likely. The way it works is a transbrake engaged first and reverse gears to lock the car in place. to back up you put it in neutral and engage the transbrake it locks reverse and you back up normally.

    • @robertwhite9028
      @robertwhite9028 Před 6 lety

      Scootermagoo I thought it was a two step but how he was moving the shifter thru me. red button is lock out?

    • @robertwhite9028
      @robertwhite9028 Před 6 lety

      red button is either lock out or trans brake

    • @robertwhite9028
      @robertwhite9028 Před 6 lety

      no red is trans brake he held it while revving

    • @Scootermagoo
      @Scootermagoo Před 6 lety

      Yes it has to be a transbrake button I answered this question about this car in another video.
      It's a transbrake button and more then likely it's a powerglide without a park gear. Possibly a 2 speed th400 unsure but a glide is more likely.
      So you have 2 forward gears and a neutral and a not selectable reverse gear.
      So the transport the car in neutral and use first/second for the burnout.
      When the burnout is finished there is no way to select reverse.
      So to make the car backup they use the transbrake in neutral.
      A transbrakes function is to lock first and reverse together so the gears are bound in the transmission to lock the car in place.
      Using neutral you can hold the tbrake button down and it'll apply reverse while in neutral and you back up.
      The car is fuel injected so it doesn't have a traditional 2 step like msd uses. The computer controls the engine, the rpm range boost controller etc.
      So his "2-step" might be 5 different rev limits, it's all based upon the software settings.
      So lets really delve into the way this car works. it's very simple it's a vortec style supercharger. Which means it's a belt driven turbocharger. it's efficient and makes exactly the same amount of boost at rpm, and the load on the motor doesn't matter. If you set the belt drive to say 30psi *2 bar* of pressure at say 9000 rpm it'll make 10 psi "3/4bar" at 6000 rpm regardless if the cars racing or free revving or in the burnout box. Or close to it. So they have a motor which revs to the moon and the transmission convertor might be set to hold say 10psi of boost at 6000 rpm "say maybe 750hp or maybe more depending on how big the engine is" and it leaves the line at the same rpm and the same boost every single time. if you notice his et and mph didn't vary by a lot the car will run the same boost et and mph every single time depending on tune tire slip convertor hyjinx etc but everytime i see the car run it doesn't roach the tires and runs in the 4:30 range pretty much every time the mph changed here 10mph from 165 to 175 might be a tune difference rpm limit change etc. But basically that car is built to run the same et's no matter the track or conditions and they fine tune the blowoff valves and stuff to match the track surface. And they are very good at it.
      The basic difference in this type of supercharger and a turbo is exhaust pressure and load to make boost.
      This car makes the same boost at the same rpm regardless of load on the engine.
      A turbo makes boost based upon load. it's why turbo cars have to "spool up" at the line If you watch the turbo car build boost at the prestage light then bump in, he waits at idle lights the bottom bulb and goes flat on the floor. At this point his cars made his boost and can leave normally whereas the turbo car has boost but can't make boost quickly, which is typically why turbo cars are slower in the bottom of the track but go racing by the other cars at half track.
      Without question turbos make more power then any other kind of power adder but are a touch fickle in usage.
      Vortec style blowers like they use are second place power wise making roughly 75-80% of the power of a turbo car with a similarly sized inlet and turbine wheel and sizing. You also throw away a lot of power spinning the blower with a belt.
      Nitrous can make as much power as a vortec style car or a bit more depending if you can get it to light off and not blow holes in the pistons. Nitrous cars are violent for a reason and getting them tamed down takes a lot of practice and money getting the tune right.
      Then we come to the root style blowers which are terrible at higher rpm and make stupid amounts of around town power. Screw blowers on alcohol cars are a separate beast in general and do not apply to this kinda racing but they run between a roots style and a vortec in power production.
      They try and hide how the cars make power but it's cam heads compression and boost there is no magic it's all based upon good machine work good parts a good tune and a willingness to make a small fortune from a large fortune getting these kinds of cars to run right.
      Also these cars are making roughly 15-1700 hp at the back tires and would run deep 7's or high 6's if the tires would hold up "which makes the fiscus video last year about the 5's in the world cap even more impressive" unless he had it limited to keep the tires from exploding past 250mph.
      I hope this answered a few questions.

      @waynebollentin989 Před 6 lety +1

      Josh Wood I don't see a 481x in that car ever. Not everyone needs them to make big reliable power. Just takes a great engine builder something they have.

    • @joshwood7682
      @joshwood7682 Před 6 lety

      +Wayne Bollentin idk the AJPE 481X is a awesome and BAE and AJPE Hemi heads and blocks it doesn't have to come from proline your right a good engine builder can make power but I really don't know of any other blocks and heads other than the ones I mentioned that are readily available and can make 4000+hp. I don't know if you have ever heard of Chuck Ford the owner of CFH he makes billet blowers and carbonfiber blower hats and does some of the best head work in the world they build motors to lol mostly blown promod and RVW setups he only builds BAE and AJPE setups and all of the blower pro mods and RVW cars that are breaking records have his blowers and heads on them we both live in Grant AL I have known him all my life my mom and uncle went to school with him, he has done sevral sets of heads and ported intakes for my Paw Paw and uncle Back before he was super well know I have a set of aluminum Brodix heads and Vic jr intake he ported in 2000 for my Paw paws last race car they are still some bad mama jamaS I'm 27 and only only fool with turbo ls stuff but if I ever build me a sbc there goin on it

      Josh Wood Fletcher and Shawn already have ran a proline 481x twin 102s on it with the old blue mustang on DR's. They were one of the first to run in the 3.80s I believe without a pro mod chassis lol.. They made the right choice for running in the NMRA and NMCA with this setup.
