For Our 2000th Video: Just a Normal Snowy Day

- What I would very much like to do at some point is to make a video that is like "All of the best moments of the last 15 years" and I thought I might even take that challenge on until I realized that my son was going to be staying home from school the last two days of the week.
BUT I REALLY WANT TO DO IT SOON!!
To all of the nitpickers...yes, we have uploaded more than 2000 videos on this channel...especially if you count all of the various parts of Truth or Fail. But this is the first time the counter has ever hit 2000...that's for certain.
Thank you all for being a part of the things we have done.

this is honestly my favorite type of video. it makes me feel a lot better and more productive to have someone tell me about their normal day.
I mostly write emails.
@@vlogbrothers I like to interpret the lack of signature at the end of this message to be both Hank and John dejectedly deadpanning in unison.
@@vlogbrothers not to freak out but i’ve been a nerdfighter for about a year, and this is the earliest i’ve ever been, and so this is the first reply from y’all that i’m getting! it’s nice to know i’m not an old man yelling at clouds in this comment section.
@@lindsay4254 I could be wrong but i've noticed that John always seems to sign his name at the end of a comment, but Hank doesn't so i tend to assume that if there's no signature it's Hank.
I agree! It also makes me appreciate small things more and feel comfort that other people just have normal days too!
“Orin doesn’t like it when only one team wins.” I like the way you think, Orin.
Agreed. ^^
Be the Orin you want to see in the world! Lol
Today I was made aware of an opinion I didn't know I have, thanks Orin :)

Why am I emotional 😭 I feel like I’ve grown up with you two as my virtual uncles 💕
virtual uncles is the best and most accurate phrase for that and i totally agree TwT
Virtual Uncles is exactly how I’ve always thought of them!!
Being on the older side, probably "virtual cousins" would fit better, but it's amazing how two common words put together make so much sense!
This is so true!

I actually really enjoyed getting a chill slice of life video for this milestone. It feels appropriate somehow, and I needed the calm today. Here's to 2000 more! :)
I wanted to say “if you love junk yard joust, you’ll love marble races” but I learned about marble races from this channel, and now my kids make their own marble teams and tracks too.
I couldn't tell you why I love the Marble-lympics, only that I love the Marble-lympics. I never miss a video. WHY IS IT SO GOOD?!
wait that’s so wholesome- i’ve been meaning to check it out for a while now, this is my extra push to do it!
Yeah, I remember Orin mentioning last P4A that he's a fan of marble races, so this is in line with the character.

Orin looks healthy and he's playing.
It makes my heart so happy.
Being a happy, healthy child in today's world is kind of a miracle of its own.
True. I have a baby cousin around his age and getting him to play with physical toys is sooo hard. His parents gave both him and his sister their own phones and it's their main form of entertainment which really worries me since they're not really interacting with anything physical that they can pick up
Orrin seems to be a very sensible child. Good for him.
I too think the best way to cope is to hide under a pillow
@@holliebrokaw3716 With Orrin's face covered, I could almost imagine I was looking at myself.
This felt like a Thoughts from Places video and the place is Nerdfighteria. I feel warm and happy. Thanks, Hank and John for 15 years and over 2000 videos.
+
That's definitely how I felt about John's last video. It's a great way to celebrate the occassion.
In my opinion, as a nerdfighter for years now, we're all winners.
As are the 3 teams that won. Thanks John and Hank for wonderful, informative, and entertaining videos.
Whether you are team John, team Hank, or team Dave, you always have one of three brothers to root for.
@@Ben-15 I'm Team Batmobile.
Been here since 7th grade, and I’m one year away from having my PhD now. Thanks for being a delightful constant in my life through the tumultuous ups-and-downs of middle school, high school, college, and grad school! Wow, not sure if I’ve watched anyone else for this long.
This view of Hank's domestic life is so intimate and beautiful.
I joined nerdfighteria around 2017, the 10yr point. I still feel like a very new nerdfighter, despite the fact that I’ve been here for a 1/3 of its lifespan. I was starting high school, this year, I graduate. Paper Towns is my comfort story and a guide to who I am, I wrote dftba in the margins of every notebook I used in school, and at the end of 2019, John liked my comment summarising the highlights of my decade. Joining nerdfighteria is one of them. A few days ago, I met a child who is in high school and is younger than nerdfighteria, which physically shook my brain, despite the fact that I was 3 when it began.
In the past 15 years, kids have been born, dogs have been adopted and lived their whole lives in the time of nerdfighteria, and peeps have been eaten. We’ve made songs and holidays and books and movies, and yeah, Hank and John, you were the ones who did that, but I like to feel that you couldn’t have done it without nerdfighteria, without us.
When I turn 18 later this year, I’m going to get DFTBA tattooed under my skin.
Because, thanks to Hank and John and the Yeti and Katherine and Willy and Lemon and Henry and Alice and Orin and Daniel Biss and Dave Green and Emily Graslie and Esther Earl, the world has far less suck in than it did on Dec 31, 2006. And that means the world to me
What a beautiful tribute 💚
This is lovely thank you for sharing
@@vlogbrotherdave oh my god it's Dave! We found him!
+ + + This deserves to be pinned.
Oh boy this made me feel old because I started watching on the same age you did except that was 2011 and I learned about them from Charlieissocoollike who I don't think has made a regular video since you started watching vlogbrothers.
"Orin doesn't like when only one team wins" 🥺🥺❤️
This was such an adorable bit of toddlering that I had to go show it to my wife before finishing watching the video.
I’ve been a part of this community for half of my life. It’s inexplicably important to me as I’m sure it is for many others. Here’s to many more videos that help do things like reducing the maternal mortality rate in Sierra Leone, and to many more videos that don’t do anything but make a bunch of people smile (which I would argue has the ability to change the world just as much). Much love ❤️

I've likewise spent half of my life in this community- "inexplicably important" hits it right on the nose 💚
I just realized I've spent half my life part of this community as well and almost cried a little bit

That was so wonderfully put! I feel the same..
When I moved to Texas 25 years ago I went on record that several months of blazing hot and humid was a good trade for not having to drive on snow anymore. Then Feb 2021 and the Texas Snowpocalypse (now with state-wide power failure!) and not only did I have to drive on snow again, but I found myself and my wife looking around the house for things that would be more valuable on fire in the fireplace than they were taking up space in our house. All this because the temperatures were merely below freezing, there as a mere 7" of snow, and the State of Texas despite warnings of trouble a decade previous had been sloppy/slow/lackadaisical about weatherproofing the grid. So now I'm back in the Black Hills where we routinely get below zero in the winter, routinely get a fair bit of snow and somehow, the lights stay on. Texas was no longer a good trade so we got our buns out of there. And now, my wife who grew up in California before moving to Texas gets giddy as a schoolgirl when it starts snowing and appreciates the frost feathers on the window and enjoys watching the deer in our yard and worries about the bunny who (apparently) lives under our deck. Honestly, I was a bit jaded about winter, but now seeing it through her eyes, I can appreciate a snow day again.
ORIN DOESN'T LIKE IT WHEN ONLY ONE TEAM WINS!!!!
Orin for President.
Orrin for President, but also a few more kids as Co-Presidents, because that's more fair.
Doesn't that imply a coalition government?
"Sometimes life is just about life"
That's a misleadingly simple insight Hank, thank you for that.
A video about your wonderful family, full day working many jobs, crying while reading, and enjoying the little things?
No better way to spend the 2000th video. So perfectly vlogbrothers.
So happy to be here for this journey!
This was such a cozy and warm video despite all of the snow and shoveling. Thank you for making this corner of the internet more and more awesome each day and happy 2000th!

Why did it only take 3 minutes for me to get emotionally attached to the yellow team? I also really enjoyed this video, it may have been easier to make but also fun and real.
Aw I was 4ooting for the yellow team too lol
I want to sincerely thank John and Hank and this community for everything. I wouldn't be who I am today without all of the love and support I've been given here. I found the vlogbrothers when I was 16. I didn't have the best home life. This community has been invaluable for my mental health and development. Thanks for helping me grow up and for being a stable source of comfort during some of the most abusive times in my life. I seriously love y'all. And I'm excited to decrease some world suck together next month!
This may be the "easiest" kind of video to make but I really like them! I'd be very happy with more like this.
Been here for 4 whole years. I plan to be here till the end. Whatever that means. Not sure if there ever really is an end to content though, because as you wrap up your videos, there are still going to be people who start the vlogbrothers nerdfighteria journey. I started 4 years ago, some of you have been here since beginning and some others have just began.
Thanks for letting me begin, and making it possible for me to introduce others to an amazing community.
In the language that was popular when I first started watching you guys: I can't even. I've been a nerdfighter since 2011, and I know for a fact you guys have played such a huge part of my life and the trajectory it's taken. I have you guys to thank for my neverending pursuit to learning. It's also thanks to you guys who've inspired me to take up a career that enlightens people and makes the world suck less. Hope to be here for another 10 years.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who occasionally walks around just...crying for various reasons because it's happened
I definitely went for a walk in my very snowy Minnesota neighbourhood this past week during sub-zero (°F) temperatures crying
Just when you thought you knew where your life was going, there's snow, and now I have more books to add to my TBR list.
delighted to hear that in spite of online learning, snow days have been retained! There is literally no feeling like the anticipation and pay off of a snow day
Cgp grey watcher?
@@Iselo45 Ha! Yes, though I remember thinking about it before that too, when I was working from home during the snow :(
The Red Cart Team and of course The Cars that Go Fast But Are Too Big ♥️
I love that Orin and I share the want for multiple teams to win
The best 2000th video! So many of us have grown up with your videos and you have put so much good into the world - we hugely appreciate you! ❤️ P.S. Blue Cars all the way!
15 years ago, I was about to turn 40 and was between marriages #1 and #2. But since I have a brother and sister Hank and John's age, I guess I don't feel THAT old.
Thank you Hank and John, for everything you've given to us Nerdfighters and to the world. Thanks for bringing us all together into this motley family of wonderful people spread all over the planet.
It truly is amazing 💚
i’m so freaking proud to be a part of this community man 💛
“i have no idea if i’m halfway through this” jesus hank i didnt need a crisis today
American schools: closed for snow
Canada: *Hahahaha NO*
It's quite fitting that both John and Hank got to do milestone vids back to back.
Norway: lol NO
I just turned 19. I've been watching vlog brothers since I was 13. Y'all literally raised me through my teen years 🥺
The only thing more adorable and wholesome than not wanting just one team to win is having a team of batmobiles. So cute.
This month marks the start of my 12th year being a Nerdfighter. John, Hank, and the community they've created have positively influenced my life in countless ways. The Green brothers' thoughtful consideration of things and reminders to "imagine others complexly" have helped me to better understand myself and others.
Additionally, the Dear Hank and John podcast has been the highlight of many of the darker weeks of my life.
I feel very lucky to have found this corner of CZcams that's made of awesome.
I'm so glad that what I did today and what I needed to today coincided when I watched this video. Life is just life and I'm so grateful that Vlogbrothers is a part of mine. Happy 2000th, Hank, John and the entire nerdfighteria community :)
I have spent ten years of my life with this wonderful community. I appreciate you all so much. Thanks to Hank and John for creating a safe, lovely as heck place where people are valued and we imagine problems and the world and each other complexly.
A Vlogbrothers video that is almost an actual vlog? Wow! It's like the year is 2007 again!
Congratulations on the 2,000th video!
This is an excellent 2000th video, and is the reason I love Vlogbrothers. Happy 2000th! 🎉✨💛

Lately, as I have been making new friends and been more communicative about my life and interests, I have found myself in the need to explain to people wtf vlogbrothers is and why it means so much to me (enough that i got my first tattoo of something i learned of because of yall); and it has been nearly impossible to do. How do I explain to people that I have spent the last 8 years watching two four minute videos a week about nothing in particular, or that a random community with a dumb name has literally shaped me into the person I am. I am so thankful for these years, and this video made me so happy, because this is what I love, a community formed around two grown ass white men that care deeply about what matters and think profoundly about everything, but also goof off and dont think too highly of themselves. What i want to say is thank you for all the memories and all the lessons, and thank you for what's to come.
Congratulations on this milestone. A pleasure to continue seeing this community flourish. Stay warm.
And of course, congratulations to the White team, the Green team and the Batmobiles.
I've been watching for a decade as of this year, and am happy to keep watching for the next one, too. Thank you guys for being awesome and promoting so much good in the world, both in good vibes and good effects. Congrats on 2000!
As a long time nerd fighter congrats on 2000 videos Hank and John! Thanks for all the laughs, memories, factoids and awesomeness over the last 15 years!
You guys have had such a profound influence on my life. Much of my view of the world has been directly shaped by these videos, always for the better- watching your videos and engaging with the community has been the most valuable endeavor I’ve ever taken on the internet. Thanks, Hank and John!
The fact I have been here for 13 years and I’ve tried (maybe successfully maybe not, at this point I don’t know) to watch every single one of the 2000 videos, is making my heart swell a little bit.
It’s so nice to see people making their own versions of junkyard joust. RIP yellow team.
1:13 looks so comfortable.
Congrats on the milestones, you guys will outlive everything, maybe even the platform
Was really rooting for they yellow team! We’ll win next time I’m sure!
15 years of Vlogbrothers means I've been watching for 13 years which is exactly half my life. This community has shaped me in ways I never thought possible and I genuinely couldn't extract myself from Nerdfighteria because so much of my life has been impacted by it. Hank and John keep doing what you are doing and changing the world as you go.
Thanks for the Junkyard Youst recondition! We have been watching lots of Monster Trucks! This will be right up my son's alley!
Thank you for all these years of joy and community! Nerdfighteria is a beautiful part of my life and the lives of so many others
This just a normal day video was incredibly soothing! It’s nice to just realize how much enjoyment can be had in the little things that occur daily. Also I am sad that the team I picked didn’t win, but congratulations to the three winners of Orin’s junkyard joust for this video!
I remember watching the thousandth video in my high school band room in small-town Alabama, and now I'm watching the two-thousandth in my grown-up(ish) apartment in San Francisco. Thanks for being a constant all these years 💞
This made me feel so warm inside. Thank you for 2000 videos you guys. Stay safe.
I can’t believe I’ve been here since the TFIOS days, it only seems like a year ago! How the time flies by 😊 thanks for all the videos Hank and John.
This video is such a beautiful celebration of 2,000 videos full of humans living and growing
This reminded me of the "Eating Weird food from the 50s (with Katherine)" video. Hank, you are so good at making these fun slice of life videos. The former, I think, is still my favorite vlogbrothers video.
Congratulations to your own perseverence and thank you for inspiring, educating and entertaining us for all these years. And I hope for years to come!
Here’s to another 2000!!!!
The sort of… mundanity of this video despite the monumental success it signifies really shows me what I love about this channel and this community as a whole.
Dftba!
Loving this simple vlog. Thanks for sharing your day Hank! Here's to 2000 videos 🎉
Honestly, I miss normal life so much and had such a rough day that this was incredibly soothing for me. Thank you, Hank. Imaginary confetti popper for 2000 videos (on this channel alone) and for a chill snow day with a little kid.
I'm amused that your son has enough Batmobiles to form a team. Does he imagine that each one is driven by a different Batman?
This video was oddly relaxing and comforting, especially after what has been a really bad day for me. I wouldn’t mind more voiceover videos in the future.
Beautiful- thank you Hank🙏
I think this may be my favorite of your videos, thank you so much. I feel like a better person or I want to be a better person since I started watching your videos.
Yay! (Also, first 🥰)
Oof, that Brotherhood 2.0 logo hit me right in the feels 🥲
I am really emotional about this milestone. I was probably about 14 when I started watching your Videos. Even though my English wasn't good enough to understand everything, the videos made me happy. My English quickly improved (especially when you launched your podcast) and I felt more and more like a part of this community. I am 21 now and feel like I have grown up with nerdfighteria. You have influenced me in so many profound ways. You guys taught me how beautiful and diverse people are, how to imagine other people complexly and with compassion. You taught me that being a nerd is something to not be ashamed but proud of (I study computer science because of that). And without me really noticing you gave me the gift of understanding another language just by surrounding me with it every day.
Thank you nerdfighteria. You have made me who I am today.
Congratulations 🍾🎈🎉🎊! On 2000 fun and informative videos!
i've now been here for a decade. that's a long time-- especially when you're only 24! i found you guys in early 2012 after i'd had major surgery that left me bedridden for 6+ months (instead of the estimated 6-8 weeks). i was scared, in pain, and alone. i'd just started high-school and was trying to do my second semester in poorly-made paper modules while on high doses of morphine. discovering nerdfighteria was a light in the dark, and i think it played a significant part in why i never gave up during that time. i had an endless backlog of zany antics and poetic wisdom to take in during my hours alone, and they grounded me. i've grown up with all you've had to offer the world and it's helped shape me into the person i am today. thank you. i'll be here til the end, whenever that is.
Congratulations on the 2000th Video Hank and John (or John and Hank, depending on your worldview)! I believe I joined Nerdfighteria in the buildup to TFioS, but I am so appreciative of the offshoots this community has sparked (SciShow, Crash Course, Brain Scoop) as well as all the good you and John have helped promote in this continuing experiment of connection and community.
OOTH, I am quite jealous of your snow day yesterday. I live in a valley two mountain passes to the west of you and as I was watching the snow get progressively deeper from my office window (a school office, mind you), it boggled me why I was even at work in the first place. We got ours in the end today, so I can look out on my back yard and see the dents I made in the foot-deep snow trekking out there after work to shake snow of off my trees. Not nearly as fun as Junkyard Joust.
Love this type of video so much. So grateful to have been part of this community for so many years now, thank you so much John and Hank for this wonderful slice of the internet you have created for all of us.
This was really enjoyable to watch. I too was enjoying the Missoula snow the last couple days Hank. Took my own snowy walk, including a last look at the downtown holiday lights before they're taken down, and made a snowman for the first time in years. Been a vlog brothers fan for a long time, and it's always fun to be reminded we live in the same town.
I am super excited for my first pair of Awesome Socks this month. Congrats on 2000!
It's absolutely crazy that I began watching y'all in middle school, it's been like 7 years! Thank you for the lessons and memories, it means do much to me.
What a wild adventure it has been. Congrats on this milestone, y'all!
Thanks for all the videos over the years. You guys are awesome:)
The active effort you put into respecting your kid's privacy by not putting his face on here is one of the many reasons why I think that you're probably a good dad.
Thanks for sharing life with us. xx
I've been watching these videos for about 10 years and I distinctly remember binge watching all thr old videos that first weekend I found this channel. Glad to be here and I look forward to the next 2k videos and 15+ years.
Just. Beautiful.
This was lovely. It reminded me of thoughts from places, which are some of my favorite videos but due to (gestures broadly), there has understandably not been many in the past few years.
Thank you both for a great 15 years/2000 videos
Sincerely a silent nerdfighter that's stuck around since Accio Deathly Hallows (and went back and watched the videos before that too)
This was a lovely video. Just so calming to take a peek into what one of your days is like, even if it was a more unusual one with the snow day!
My snowy day in Montana has been spent in my room, quarantining. Thanks for the content, all 2000 of them, but also thanks for everything else too.
such a cozy and comforting video!❤I feel so lucky to get to live in a place where it snows, one of my favourite feelings in the world is what you described, how everyone slows down and it just feels a bit quieter and more peaceful. so happy I get to be here for the 2000th episode, thank you for everything😊
I loved this video, please consider doing more summaries of normal days in the future! : ) It's very relaxing.
Please, please, please don't stop making videos. This is my favorite CZcams channel. I often take action on something because you've brought my attention to it. And most importantly, I always feel better after I watch you. Please don't stop.
Happy 2,000th video and Happy 15 years of Vlogbrothers! Happy to be here ☺️
Happy 2000 a pleasure to have been here for all of them!! You are both such a constant in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way
Congrats on 2000 amazing vids!
I wouldn’t be me without Nerdfighteria. Thank you to every last one of you. I’m so glad you’re here. DFTBA
Thank you for this. It has been very calming
