    Awesome jobs with showing how install a coil over system on a C10. Appreciated you even noting the size of the sockets and lbs on the torque wrench. Now I got to add a plasma cutter to my Christmas list. :)

    CJ Classic Trucks; Question, In the video, you said to use 1973 & up steering components to keep the geometry correct. Is this because the spindles (Knuckles) have a different size, tapper outer tie rod end or is the steering arm on the spindles shorter or other? If so, do I need inner / outer tie rods, drag link & pitman. Help me understand. Thanks.
    I am doing a 1967 C10 for myself and prefer a nice ride, handling w/modern updates as I use an LS 5.3L in this build. EFI Tech since 1977. ASE Master Tech - Retired

    • @deankay4434
      @deankay4434 Před 2 lety

      Nothing, 1973 steering parts have to be ordered. Length of pitman arm, length of idler arm, tie rod size-taper or both? Just want to plan ahead for cost. Sorry, but retirement has its challenges. Looked on website for info, but I worked on vehicles and each website is different & some have downloaded instructions. Hope I can figure out. Or maybe not.

      @@deankay4434 This maybe too late for you as you may have already figured it out, but on mine for steering I just had to order some adapter tie rod adjusters. You use the original style inner tie rods with the later outers. They are different size rods so hence the tie rod adapters. Now mine had drum brakes and I ordered a disk brake swap kit and it came with these parts, but you can get them all individually. Hope this helps.

      @@user-ge2qn6gp4o Thanks for the reply, but following a thread on the forum 67-71 C10 trucks, a guy layed out all of the parts out required for front disc. Other than booster, master and proportioning valve, I all GM parts with a C20 lower control arm that uses the larger 88-98 C1500 GVW 7200 ball joint, adjustor sleeves are all the same, but Impala tie rods ends (Both), truck upper, 12" brake hose as 67 places it behind the upper control arm, Red power coated calipers at $20 each with 2 15/16" piston and stand bearing set, seal and all the smalls that fit 35+ years of GM. A guy said the C20 LCA was longer, but it is the same. The rotor is placing the front wheel out further and the off-set needs to figured out as I choose +10mm with 16" tires. I want normal stuff, you could buy anywhere and not super expensive. With 265/R75 16 Kelly
      trail rated tires come with 16mm tread and rotors fit 200-2002 Express just machined for ABS tone ring on back. Otherwise, it is 6 lugs with 5.5" pattern. Other that wheels (Pacer) and tires, I spent $200 or less as one rotor came from bone yard, nuts, covers, bearings, dust plate and had one rotor new. The 3" piston is plenty to stop the truck as the vehicles came with drum on rear and high tow rating. Brakes determine the towing. Thanks, as retired, I don't want to drop $2,500 for front disc kit.

    Doesnt look like you have to take the shock eyelet off because all the components are large enough to go over it and the spring perch has a slit in it just for this reason to slide it in the shaft and into place
