- This is the new Fellow Ode Gen 2. A revision to 2020’s arguably most anticipated coffee product. On the outside, there’s not a lot that looks different. But, they have made a few changes that make this a nice upgrade from the original.

Great review Xris!
Great video Xris!
Can't wait for the Xbloom. Great review
Just picked up the Ode early this year when it came out in white. SSP burrs are definitely a curiosity but the 2.0 burr set feels like a more worth while upgrade after nearly a year in.
Thank you as always for the aesthetically pleasing and smooth drinking reviews. All nice looking upgrades. As an Ode Gen 1 owner with SSP MP burrs I'm going to spin the original grinder flaws as features; I don't RDT to encourage static. This keeps the chaff and fines in the grinder. I then bang on the lid and the knocker before my next grind and pitch the mess that drops out. Requires more faffing around but on paper should produce a better cup.
here for the xrispy footage as always
I have the Gen2 burrs in a grinder at home. Yes grinding pretty close to burr chirp can give you a fine enough grind to pull medium roast shots on my La Pavoni (49mm).
Very cool innovation with the static/ionizer. Now I need to figure out how to implement that on my modded home grinders.
interesting to know!
Bro I got the same machine thanks for that imma get this now
What range do you recommend for Chemex brewing with the Ode 2?
And no beep when pressing the button!
they took the beep and moved it to the new stagg as a chime 😂
@@itsxris someone’s pet project then!
Or auto shut off
Who made the scale in the video?
Who made the scale?
I currently use the Baratza Encore as my brew grinder. Would you recommend this as an upgrade?
absolutely
I don't do fancy chemex or v60. I just use a Bonavita drip machine and grind with a Capresso Infinity conical burr grinder. Would the Ode 2 make much of a difference in the final taste of the coffee compared to my existing grinder?
I would say yes. Ode would definitely be a step up from the capresso. Though I would say you won’t get the full benefit of the ode using just a drip machine.
i agree
I see this a lot advertised for French press. Is this also good for espresso?
no
What burrs are in your DF83?
stock
I wonder if the anti chaff is a mod available for the gen 1?
that would be an interesting option for sure
I was wondering the same thing myself. Same question on the V2 hopper.
@@seniormysterioso7552 hopper is not compatible, I asked Fellow. They may be working on a redesigned hopper for the Gen 1's though.
@@footdickbubblehair thanks for sharing. Great username btw.
You said the new burrs can do 250-300 Microns? that's in the Espresso range, any chance you can do a short with it set to 0 and see how it tastes as an espresso? Thanks
I'll try it!
this is not an espresso grinder so you won't have the range required to dial in beans properly
@@Cenot4ph I agree but technically 200-400 is espresso so if this can do 250 it maybe worth a try.
With ssp burrs you can grind for espresso in the ode. Though it’ll burn the motor out if you consistently grind that fine.
@@JT-zy2ft Once daily would you consider consistently?
I was wondering what would be better, Pair this with the Niche so I can have Filter coffee and espresso or go with the P64 with MP Burs
price range difference between ode and p64 make it hard to compare
@@itsxris yes I was planning to buy both (Niche and Ode) , but I think buying only the P64 will make it
i like 2 dedicated grinders so i dont have to switch settings :)
Would love your input pls 🙏
Starting fresh in the coffee world. Will be buying a espresso machine in a years time until then will be using a areopress. Need to get a good grinder which will work for both. Should I go for a Niche0 or Ode v.2 with SSP burrs. With the burs the price is almost the same.
i would go for that, niche + ode gen 2 burrs is good enough to start imo
