    I love Russell's Reserve and Eagle Rare is OK, but I'm not much of a Henry McKenna fan. It used to be a bottom shelf $20 plus bottle until a bourbon guru named it the best 10 year old bourbon of the year some years ago. The price more than doubled in my area and it became impossible to find. I prefer the Old Forester Bottled in Bond out of all the OF offerings. Keep up the great reviews!

    I love going back to a whiskey after some time has passed and 're-discovering' it. Wild Turkey products consistently fall in this category for me. I chase - and consume - more hard to find/limited release/special bourbons, but when I come back to WT it's just consistently good. Look forward to drinking some of yours should I ever get up that way. ;) Cheers,

    There's a reason anyone should never spend more than $40 for Eagle Rare. It's not great. It's ok at best. Henry McKenna 10yr is a single barrel so it's one of those, "You never know what you'll get" sort of things. My bottle is a banger and super good, but I've had a pour from another bottle that wasn't good at all. And Old Forester 1924 is just overpriced for what it is. When you can get 1910 and 1920 for half the price, why would you spend the money on 1924. They are going to have to get the price down on that if it's going to succeed.

    Look, I'm not shocked. Russel's 10 is an incredible product at an incredible price point (especially considering the parent company). Eagle Rare is super exciting for NEW bourbon drinkers because it's simple - little oak, lots of sweetness, and not much else. Once you have had a few hundred pours it becomes just another bottle that is oddly over priced and over hyped.
    OF 1924 is the newest boy on the market with a 10 year age statement from a legacy brand and because of the ER/Mckenna hype people went bonkers. Why? Mystique, I think.
    People over look Russel's 10 because it's available everywhere and it's cheap. Here's what i love about Russel's 10 - IT IS AVAILABLE... which means Russels is sitting on a mountain of 10+ year old whiskey and we will likely see something like Russel's 12 or 13 that isn't a hyper allocated bottle but instead a $60-65 every day release.

    I just picked up my first McKenna. Kinda underwhelming tbh.

    Great video. Shocked but not shocked. Love WT products. Haven't tried OF1924 assumed that would win before watching video given the price and reputation. Your impression of ER is the same as mine. Pretty good for $35 but not that special -- though admit to keeping an open bottle of ER on my shelf for visitors who believe everything Buffalo Trace is the best.

    Russel 10 is the worst tasting bourbon I’ve ever had and McKenna is not a $95 bottle of bourbon.

      We seem to be in the minority in how we feel about Russell's 10. I drank a bottle of the 10 about five years ago and, while not the *worst* I've had, it's in the bottom 10%.

      The great news for both of you is there's no wrong answers in whiskey! :) Everyone's tastes are different and that's what makes it a beautiful thing.

      @@ItsBourbonNight Family member (and plenty others) went on and on about Russel's 10 SB, etc. so finally had to try. Immediately thought it reminded me of all things Wild Turkey, for obvious reasons in hind sight. It was good, just dont see what all the hype was about with it.

    Meh RR10 is good for the price but I would never put it above McKenna 10bib or Old Fo1924... well maybe in a blind lol, but blinds can be wild, I don't put a much weight on them.

    I just saw HM10 for over $100 at my local store. I remember when I could get it for $25ish. It's way over rated for the price. Give me the Russel's any day.

    Where’s the Jack 10?

    • @ItsBourbonNight
      @ItsBourbonNight  Před 5 měsíci

      Gotta start somewhere, right? If we do a 2nd 10-year flight, we can toss Jack 10 in there, but honestly we haven’t been able to get a bottle since the 1st release. So we would need to put it up against some harder to find bottles like Michter’s 10 and so forth.

    May want to do a head to head of a newer Russell's 10 (Red bottom label) vs your older bottling...rumor is its gotten younger and less depth of flavor. It is still a great bottle for the price (please keep it that way Campari🙏🙏).
