This is real drama, best movie in generations.
"forgive me Madam, for taking up so much of your time" . those are the words of a gentleman! All time fav, watched this movie a number of times. 💖👏
No hate to bridgeton which is a fun little watch and a stylized non-historical dram a but this scene and many others in this movie prove that desire is more breathing really heavy and heaving your boobs.
Matthew McFadden's facial expressions are truly brilliant in this film. Goes from so angry and uptight to so vulnerable on a dime as he processes his emotions regarding Elizabeth.
At the time this was made I had never heard of him and was shocked at how perfectly he was cast. They both did an incredible job. There wasn't a poor actor in the bunch everyone was phenomenal and every single one of them went on to do great things.
You expressed so well my feelings and opinion about the whole cast, I can't say anything else. Thank you.

Just had to say that Keira Knightly's (beautiful woman naturally of course) make-up is absolutely stunning. The brown/neutral palette they went with really brings out her eyes along with the eyeliner. She just looks absolutely stunning in this scene

Keira Knightly - an actress I actually like - was an appalling Elizabeth Bennett - angry, pouty and rude. UGH.
It was never "chemistry". It was good acting and that is all. He is happily married and they were having their first baby during the filming and their baby was born whilst they were shooting this scene. Absolutely great acting by both of them but nothing more. Stop romantising acting and trying to make it real. He has a real life with his wife and child and Keira Knightly means nothing to him except his co worker.
“Chemistry” on screen has a much more expanded definition than romantic chemistry. This is an industry term, so much so that there are “chemistry reads” in the audition process. This could be for any pairing or group of characters, not only in romance. These 2 definitely have great chemistry.
Take a chill pill, no one is dreaming of Mathew and Keira, they are just remarking on the chemistry between the actors, which is quite needed for a romance drama. No one is this delusional that they want to ship them in real. They acted as sister and brother in Anna Karanina.
Chemistry on screen does not mean people have real life chemistry. It's just an industry term. When they have two leads for a romantic movie they do what is called a chemistry screening to make sure that these people have the honestly chemistry that translates to the audience. It does not mean they have personal real life attraction to each other. In real life Keira Knightley was dating the man who played Mr Wickam
