Oh wow. My friend, where I grew up in coffee county Georgia, there are so many places I've learned of throughout the years from family that would blow your mind. There's a patch of words on the corner of an old dirt road where my grandma said there was a general store but it looks like woods. Down from that is an old cemetery with dozens of graves, where my Indian great grandmother buried her baby but the farmer just let the cows stomp it down. My mom showed me several old homesteads and I could see the rocks or corners of the houses but I had to walk deep in the woods. Oh so much!! Also there's a bare field in Ocala that my daddy took me to when I was little and there's one boulder that marks the entrance to an underground cave. He let us go deep into the cave that leads to an underground lake. It goes on seemingly forever. The walls of the cave are marked and there were like candle holders. You'd never know that was there. My aunt says it's still there in the middle of that pasture down from where my father's little brother is buried in a cemetery. There's several Indian burial sights where my uncle said he found jewelry all over the ground. And skulls were just strewn about. ( That broke my heart and the government doesn't care) . I think I'm the only one in my family who asked about these things and I like you, love to stand where those before me stood. History is addicting. Anyway, message me and I'll be glad to show you what I know. I can't stand to see these things just disappearing and no one bats an eyelash. ❤️

As a fellow member of the "never having found a silver dollar club", I was so stoked to see that giant coin with the reeded edge- thought for certain it was a Morgan or Peace $, but what you found is rather awesome as well- I cannot ever remember seeing one found, and in such great shape, especially given the condition of the two Seateds you dug earlier. Epic find, Huge Congrats!!

2:39 i would call a Concho off of a saddle. Saddle strings would go through the slots and could be used to tie things on to the saddle.

That was a big silver I've only got one Morgan since 85 and probably won't see another Happy New Year from WNC

The 1845 seated looks like it may be a contemporary counterfeit.
You should look into that if you’re suspicious, it doesn’t look silver to me .
It does have a slightly off coloring. I need to check it.

I’ve been in a bit of a silver drought lately. Half reale is the only silver I’ve found in the last 8 months! You had a great silver day. I did find a cartwheel penny (my first) rang up at 68 on manticore. Surprisingly that low for how big it is. Happy holidays

That's funny I found a slick Mercury dime last week that hit a 78-79 on my X terra pro. Usually 84-85 on silver dimes
3 cent pieces were also known as a "trime"😊
Absolutely 👍 There are also 3-cent nickels, minted between 1865-1889. I've dug a trime, I've never dug a 3-cent nickel.
I found a key exactly like that two days ago, had no idea about a banjo tuner, so i sent a pic to my son (who plays and collects stringed instruments) and he said it is 100% a stringed instrument tuner

I was wondering if you think those dimes might have suffered from the burning of the cane fields? Always appreciate you taking the time to share with the folks at home! Even though Germany is home currently and not Ville Platte. LOL

That brass valve looks like a tap for a barrel or jug maybe
It could be, but it's awfully small to be one. I've never seen one this small if that's what it is.
Ive found 2 of those Canadian cents( I am on the Canadian border) I think they are bronze. Great finds!

The field that keeps giving! Do you know the history of the property since there was a variety of coins (Canada and Panama)?
I don't know anything other than it was old home sites, but across the road there was an old cotton gin. I'm assuming it was related to that commerce.

I'm still very new at detecting but I have a question, why are you able to find so many coins is a field? Money was so precious back then that I would have thought people would have been extremely careful with their money and would not have lost it so easily. I live in a pretty rural area of middle TN with plenty of hay fields but have yet to find an old coin. Any insight will truly be appreciated.
They didn't have much back then but you also have to think about the time they spent outside too. Everything was done manually and daily. Plus, most money back in the days was coins. I've found my oldest coins in old farm fields.
Most of the fields I hunt had an old homesite there at some point. I use old maps to find them. As far as why folks lost them, almost everything they did was outdoors, and most of the working class wore homemade clothes with no, or very crude, pockets. That's one of the reason you so often see holes in old coins, they were tied on a string to keep safe or even sewn into a piece of clothing. I'm betting there were some old sites in some of those hay fields near you.

Sure! If you search thru my videos, between episodes 32 and 33 I made a tutorial on how to do it and use them.
