If your deep in the pyro community it's very easy to get overload product, but people posting vids of them with the brands and labels and talking is what will ruin it. And if you have to ask if a 1.75" salute is more powerful than a excel you have no business playing with anything other than what you get at a 1.4g store

they should not be illegal at all because of idiots that do not know how to read warning labels and use common sense . they say it is to protect the children well don't let kids play with fireworks
all fireworks can be dangerous if not used properly.which is more dangerous a canister shell or m80? answer both are equally dangerous they can both remove a hand.so why ban them.

There are certain tells that these products have, if you don't have a hookup with info. If you're shopping retail, look for things that are no-name labels that are higher priced than they look like they should be. Look for effects labeled like "thunder" or "silver peony" and things like that.
But whatever you do, don't go on to youtube and give away the name and where you got it. That ruins it for everyone else. Be discreet!

I got some awesome shells this year that were 1.3g. They were 1.75" but holy hannah they were amazing. I know these overloads as "rewraps". But the scary thing was I honestly had no idea they were 1.3g. I'm not going to say the name of them but there were 12 shells and a small mortar with it. It said the colors and effects they made. There was obviously no color just straight flash powder. The first one I lit scared the hell out of me but I went back to the tent and told the guy I loved the color they made and he laughed and asked if I was back to get more. I got a case of them haha.

I worked at phantom fireworks in the early 2000’s
They had an over loaded products in the store.
There was a salute like Roman candle called Thunder Stick. I think you you might be able to get them still. But then they had another Thunder Stick that was a pack of bottle rockets. (Rocket was like 4-6 inches) they came in a pack of six.
As a kid 18-20 I broke the stick off and put them in mail boxes and anything else I could think of. They would blow holes in the metal mail boxes.
We put one in an old microwave. It blew the door off the hinges and the door traveled about 15 feet.
I love knowing the “good stuff” to buy.
In 4th grade I learned what a pyrotechnic was and that was what I wanted to be as an adult. But I got into drugs and got felonys and now all that was dashed. But I still love the feeling of a crowd watching me light fireworks on the fourth.
    Drugs are bad
    Thunder Sticks were fun!!!

Salutes and overloads are easier to come by now, just be ready to pay out the ass if you want to purchase them. There is a legal way to get your hands on 1.3 g, but at the same time, there is no way to legally import or sell overloaded products. You said it perfect "sell people what they want, not what they need. Lots of serious pyros are out there who hunt these down every year.

Ya but remember we can't just go into the store and pick them up they have to be mislabeled or remark for us to get them secretly and that's why they cost so much they're not thinking about safety but remember we can't just go and get them that's why they have to be secretly remarked yes they are thinking about money but if a customer consumer salute shells already hard to get so the Chinese are trying to make it easier

It's true that these mislabeled items are not safe, I knowingly bought a single shot salute that was labeled as a fountain and in the fountain isle. The fuse in fountains is supposed to come out the top yet the fuse was on the bottom and literally said thunder King. Anyways some kid who thinks its a fountain will be close by these. Also the shells only went up about 20 feet and really packed a punch.

Every year they ban something I liked and then its back with a different package later... I'm waiting for my 54 to get mailed out.... I've found four 1.3G distributors near me... Not including ace and wolverine... They are kinda far for contingency any ways.. Thanks for suggesting that I get my permit

The atfe has flash powder classified as a high explosive, flash powder does detonate, those people under the impression it's not a high explosive should not be messing with it,that's why you can't buy serious salutes anymore, unless you know someone that makes them and knows wtf there doing, take 3g of 70/30 flash powder and 3g of dynomite and shoot them side by side, flash powder wins every time

If you want knowledge about fireworks laws in Skandinavian and Europe, I have some knowledge in the area especially Scandinavia. For example, we in Europe have a large illegal market online that you do not see in the US. Besides good information about how the laws in the United States works. Greetings from Sweden!

I just hope people practice safety and don't go crazy when doing them...I've seen even the super legal ones hurt people; not because they were overcharged or made poorly, but because kids do them who should not even be near aerials. Others act like jackasses when lighting them putting , usually putting mortar shells upside down purposely. """Asking for trouble""" Always use leather gloves and eye protection... good safety glasses pleeez ---! Be smart ;be safe ;be with hands and fingers? I have only been burned once by itty bitty screamer missle and good have put my eye out but hit arm left tiny scar ....

Even though I am a Christian, I do believe in the "theory" of Karma. Meaning, what goes around, comes around. The Bible states, you reap what you sow.
You go and tell on someone that is really none of your business, then sure enough someone is gonna tell on you for something also. Might not be right then, but it will be. Maybe it is something you have no idea you are even breaking the law (we all break laws each day unaware that we are).
Just my opinion. Thanks for the video

Yes there were the Black Cat 1.4 silver salutes. Very comparable to the egg shaped 1.3g 3" titanium salutes with electric and viscous fuses that people get there hands on. People were throwing the 1.4g shells at each other and blowing stuff up with them so many injuries and lawsuits occurred and I heard they stopped shipping them to America all together now. Same thing with a rocket that just whistled loud and had a two inch ball salute on it. Haven't seen that since 2004.
My firework guy who guys to China yearly taught me how he chooses brands and how he orders manufacturing processes which was very cool. Your right about people adding a little somethin' somethin' to there items or using higher grade powder to give them more pop. It's done legally, illegally and that sometimes in that gray area..
I can make two 1 1/2" firecrackers using the same weight of flash powder to the micron and make one twice as loud as the other using a few techniques. The first is all in how the firecracker is rolled and the process used to assemble it. Tightly rolled firecrackers using more paper, or, using a type of paper that helps the powder ignite quicker will yield a higher sounding product. Second is looking at the flash powder itself. Is it old/moist/impure? Was it made using high quality precursors and how much O2 is available at time of detonation. I can drone on over the chemistry for hours but even before college he taught me how to spot good fireworks class a and b and how to get the crowd on their feet just using 1.4g fireworks and good old Visco and of course Quickmatch if it's available to you.
In my opinion and my experience buying and seeing folks selling a class above fireworks, and being asked if I want something the police can see and hear from miles away! It's bad experiences that upset me on why they would sell a guy smoking a cigarette something that could destroy the place and maybe more and ignore me. That changed when they saw me there spending a few hundred bucks and bringing different friends each trip starting after January when the new cakes would arrive. I got a lot of finale pieces that were "Indiana Unapproved" that were reasonable priced and made everyone in the neighborhood jealous! We had competitions and it was all in good fun.
It got to the point were I had a 50 percent discount on these items problem was there were usually not many in stock and many people were selling what's now 1.1g explosives like Block-Busters and true M-1000's. Homemade I was sure so I never messed with them. That 1.1g crap is nothing but trouble excluding 16 inch motors properly set up by pros with proper equipment also having the F.D. on stand by should be common sense at that level. That's what scares me about people and fireworks. A guy handed me a very large titanium salute and had now idea why it had two fuses going into one he couldn't see. He lit the plastic piece and threw it just as the charge went off. Luckily there was a second delay between the charge and the salute shell exploding and blowing a hole in his neighbors yard. We all yelled not to light it and take it somewhere safe but he didn't listen. He was drunk.
Those fireworks are what get a lot of people hurt or worse and caused a lot of damage and ruin it for the rest of us.To anyone buying 1.3g fireworks illegally or not following the rules even if you have a license (Yea some states are brutal I know!) just know not only can you end up in court facing fines/prison/jail even if you give up the guy who sold them to you and coroperate fully. That's no fun for anyone.
A small spark can set a forest on fire. Even a small ember can hide from you in a gutter and slowly catch fire when your back inside and can't see the smoke. Don't throw them into fires for crying out loud. Fire+motor=blue or red coals and pieces of wood on fire into the crowd!
