    My grampa built a dresser when I was a baby, it was white. When my kids came we painted it and decoupaged with characters a couple of times. My daughter painted it and decoupaged with more modern characters for her girls. It is now back to white for my great grandsons.

    I loved mod podging stuff as a kid. I made a plaque gift for Poppy and I did a plaque reverse picture for Mamo. They always proudly hung them in their house. My grandparents loved anything I made them but those they really treasured. Man it feels like your videos and quicker and quicker every day. I get so involved in them I don't realize the time is gone by. I hope your friend who cleans your house was able to stay cool. TFS! Namesta 💓🐞💕

    When I was young, in the late 50s, early 60s, our local park had an arts and crafts hour once a week during the summer. I remember decoupaging a bottle with pieces of colored tissue paper. We used a glue and water mixture and then some sort of clear substance to seal it the next week. Fun times!

    I know I decoupaged before the 70s pretty sure it was in the 60s because Mod Podge wasn’t invented yet and I think that was invented in the 70s. (Actually 1967) Originally before decoupage medium was invented we decoupaged with layer after layer of shellac. It was very time consuming, fussy cut out images with little cuticle scissors and then layer after layer after layer of shellac until it was all smooth.

    • @mouseydeb3245
      @mouseydeb3245 Před 2 lety +2

      That brought some memories. 😄 It’s a wonder we all didn’t die from fumes alone. And getting that shellac totally dry in the humid south between layers was an awful pain. But done right, things were almost indestructible once complete. 😆

    Love the napkins, I have done some napkins on cardstock using Encostic Wax and a little travel or craft iron. Several years ago, I bought several cosmetic cases from thrift store that were popular back in the day and decoupage them papers, material and do dads and bling, gave them to my family and lady friends, also did small carry on luggage. Love everything you did, all of it is so pretty, thank you for sharing your talents. ❤️🙏

    Back when I did craft shows, I did some fabric decoupage on glass plates. The fabric was glued onto the back of the plates so you could see it from the front. I quickly found out that the totes of plates were quite heavy!

    That was a fun session! My first experience with decopauge was in elementary school when I was in Girl Scouts. They gave us a little plaster kitten figurine and some little fabric scraps. It was supposed to be a Mother’s Day gift…I’ve been hooked on crafting ever since.

    GMG, Yup, my mom and I decopaged in the 70s. We also did that thing where you fussy cut the same image out three times and put a little sticky dot or spacer in between them to make it dimensional, glued down onto a base. I can't remember what it's called

    So many great ideas in one inspiring video. I hope to try them all. As far as decoupage I did play around with it in the 70s and had a lot of fun. My most ambitious project was having my Cub Scout troop decoupage photos of themselves in uniform on those craft circles of wood as Mother's Day presents. They were so excited and proud.

    I did decoupage in the 70's! You drew a border around the picture with a white crayon or the butt of a candle, then set the paper on fire and the wax border would stop the flame long enough for you to blow it out! It didn't always work perfectly!

    I really enjoyed watching this video. I'm after a bit of advice. I want to use up some of my PVA glue and decided to play with some napkins. How much water should I add to it to?

    • @gayleagostinelli_ct
      @gayleagostinelli_ct  Před 2 lety

      I haven’t used PVA glue, so don’t know how thick it is. But my instinct would be to not go more than a half and half mix. If it’s too watery, it could weaken your napkin and cause tearing. Hope that helps! ❤️
