    Sitting is the new smoking… That was a slogan for a while and everybody was talking about standing desks. However, standing on your desk for a long time can also give you back pain. So that's not good and I have experienced it. Now, I have a treadmill under my desk that I can move away and in this video I am sharing my experience so far! I'm in sales. My job consists of research, data entry, and talking on the phone. I made the switch to a treadmill desk and will never look back. I walk at 1.5mph all day and get an extra 15-25k step a day. I'm also a runner and it's improved my endurance. I either walk or lounge these days. No more sitting. 10/10 recommend

    Great video - If I might suggest, you need to keep your elbows straight with the desk (90 degrees) and by looking at that little snippet of how the desk deafaulted, it appears its still more than a bit too low.
    That said, this video helped me reasure i was doing the right thing by purchasing a treadmill to fit my standing desk!
    Thanks, sir! :)

      Thanks for the suggestions. I am playing around with different heights every now and then to mix things up and not have it all the same at all times. But it’s a good reminder to get it set for 90degrees again tomorrow morning. 🌸👍

    Great video Chris :-) I have been looking at walking pads for a while. I still wonder if I would actually use it after a few months? In all honestly, do you still use yours?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 3 lety +12

      Hi Thomas, at the moment I mostly use the Walkolution when I want to get some walking done while also working. The one thing I have to add though is that with the nicer weather outside, I am taking more walks and spend time outside which has reduced my time on the desk treadmill. Additionally, I have noticed a stronger divide between what kind of work I do on the walking pad (programming sitting down, editing videos and podcasts while walking).
      At the end of the day there is always a bit of a shiny object syndrome going on with new stuff like that. For example: in the past 4 weeks I have never had one of those 25k steps in one day days 🙈.
      But I am definitely happy to have the options now and be able to do it when it feels good and desirable.

    Hi! Danke für das tolle Video. Ich wundere mich wie viel Lärm so ein Laufband bei diesem langsamen Gehtempo produziert. Findest du man könnte es in einer Wohnung benutzen ohne die Nachbarn zu stören?

      @ChrisSpiegl  Před rokem +1

      Hi, ich wohne in einer Wohnung und habe es viel benutzt bei langsamen Tempo. Wenn man nur geht ist es gar kein Problem. Joggen ist da schon bemerkbar fuer den Nachbarn. Aber auch dass muss er mal aushalten fuer eine Stunde pro Woche oder so.

    Thanks for the great review Chris. How did you position the treadmill with your desk? Is part of the treadmill below the desk? If so, then how much? I have limited space and wondering if I can fit part of the treadmill, below the table, and still be able to walk comfortably.

    Can I ask how many steps you do in an hour on your walking desk and what speed setting? I'm looking to purchase one but want to know how many extra steps I can expect to gain each hour.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +2

      With the electric I did between 4.000 and 8.000 steps depending on the task I was doing at the time. Speed wise I always hovered between 4km/h and 6km/h. Usually only at 6km/h when doing simple things like reviewing a video (just watching it through).

      Hallo, ich benutze immer noch ein Laufband. Mittlerweile jedoch hauptsächlich das Walkolution ( czcams.com/video/EBp6O5gWtvw/video.html ) - klar etwas teuerer aber auch richtig nice.
      Ich hatte eine Phase in der ich deutlich weniger gelaufen bin nachdem ich ein Jahr sehr intensiv am laufen war. Aber jetzt nutze ich es fast täglich.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +2

      Over the past year, I have mostly been using the crsp.li/Walkolution because of it's quiet and manual operation. Generally, I still love to walk and work. It's a great energizing feeling - if you are not overdoing it, then it can also become a bit of a drag.
      So, absolutely still recommend treadmill desks to people.

    WHat about your eyes? Are you getting any unusual eye fatigue because of the constant motion?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  Před 2 lety +5

      I have not noticed any eye strain. If anything I would guess it's actually helpful because you are actually doing more with your eyes than just staring straight ahead.
