- Here is the second part of my video that covers caves of the Wichita Mountains. This video focuses on the more "mythical" caves mentioned in Steve Wilson's Oklahoma Treasure Tale book. If you haven't read his book, please purchase it, you are missing out!
The giant man skeleton is so interesting! Many consider giants a myth however it's even biblical. So much history in our backyard. I'm located in Altus.
I hiked the 1968 plane crash right across from Mt. Scott with a friend in March 2022. At the site in a crevice about 15ft down I found the compass and tachometer from the plane. I have pictures of the artifacts.
I just subbed. Your video's are really good and well researched.
Alright man, you need to charge people and give tours of the wichitas. You have totally opened up this range to me, and I thought I loved it before, but you make me want to explore it even more now.
Man, you’re absolutely killing it with these videos man. You put a lot of time and effort into them, and it shows!
Thx brother, it’s a work in progress. You know what I mean :)
This has been so interesting to watch, I’ve enjoyed this video soooo much!!
Thank you :)
My family owns the land in front of Mt. Sheridan. Currently i’m stationed in kore. Thank you for these stories, my grandpa used to tell me all these and pull out the old treasure book and show me his picture in it. This makes me homesick but also thankful to call this place home.
Mt . Sheridan is on my bucket list. Can you give me permission to climb it.
Seriously an amazing day in the CZcams universe. Great job Steve!
Thx brother!
Having a family connection to a person mentioned in your video. I want you to know that I really enjoy your work. Thank you so much!
Now that is cool. Which person?
@@GoWildHistory Joe Hunter is my Great Grandfather. There are a a lot of family members still around. I myself enjoy everything I can find out about him. Thank you for such a cool video.
I fell in love with the Wichita's while serving at Fort Sill
They are beautiful!
Educational. Entertaining. Informative. Keep putting out great videos!
TY!
Interesting for sure. I've spent 50yrs.of hiking the Wichita Mountains. In the early 70s, you could camp at most areas of public use. 300 hundred hikes later I still find new places. An old man told me he'd share a treasure if I lowered him with ropes along a cliffside in a post oak creek tributary. To risky, I decided, but he was pretty convincing .Thanks
Was his name Stanly Picek?
@nativetunes1600 Sorry,I can't say that I'd remember as it was an odd encounter at the end of a long loop hike for me. I've hiked the canyon many times, but that section is for advanced technical climbers only. Ourey or something like that. He wrote a book or two about the area.
Ok, thanks for the reply.
Love watching your work! I hope there's more to come.
I have been in the pennington tunnel before the put bars up, me and a friend worked the tailings for several hours, and I did find a match head size piece of gold in matrix
My uncle Orvy told me the story about the cave with the bed carved in it when I was a kid.
Cool mini-doc on these caves. Some wild stories, as you mentioned probably embellished a bit through the old telephone game. Great editing in this one, Steve. I know that took some time. Great drone footage. Assume you and the boys go looking for some of these treasures?
What is this? YT Awesome day? You and Pemby on the same day?
@@rounduprodeo7893 He texted and asked if I wanted to be a twinkie today. Couldn't resist.
Thx man! Yep, these boys are always thinking they are finding good out there while we hike. :)
Dude we gotta go hit some trails together
The cave near Quartz Mountain Lodge has been cleaned up. There is no longer than any graffiti! Apparently, it was close enough to drag up sand blasting tools. It is so much nicer!
Really????? That’s awesome. Let’s hope it stays that way.
@@GoWildHistory I was out there today but didn’t go to the cave. I love Baldy Point for a short hike. I will shoot some video of it all cleaned up next time I am out there and share it.
Have you or anyone reading these comments ever heard of a cave called "Old Woman Cave". If yes, can you elaborate on it.
How large was the giant skeleton supposed to have been?
So is TP mountain off limits?
