    So, this sander has such a low power, that in low speed it throttles down to a speed of a polisher?

    I purchased a used one as the piece is a bit pricey, but the machine czcams.com/users/postUgkxG6fbm3cHBd7CNTjk5D-dwYe9c9tCB9ZN has surpassed my expectations. We sand small parts by hand often, sized around 1"x1/2," and specifically look for a piece that's designed to be vertical. The motor has plenty of torque and great speed settings. The only inconvenience I had is that the disk measures 5" where we trim 6" stick-and-sand disks down easily by mounting it then cutting with a box cutter.

    I was wondering if I could use a palmheld RO sander instead of the more expensive two-hand 90-degree ones.
    Well, I want to thank you for justifying my recent $20 Harbor Freight purchase.

    I've just tried it as well as I happened to have a random orbital sander but it definitely doesn't work as well as a dedicated polisher, it just vibrates and doesn't spin much especially when you apply some pressure.

    • @protonicstorm7228
      @protonicstorm7228 Před 2 lety +2

      That's normal, they are freewheeling, it's an orbital polisher, it orbits and due to the oribiting action the pad starts to rotate but as you say stops spinning, if the speed of the machine is adjustable try increasing the speed, this is how the dual action polishers which car detailers use work the same as orbital polishers but with a speed dial, even a basic static speed orbital polisher is far better than doing it by hand, imagine moving your hand in orbital circles 2500 to 3500 times a minute ?? you see machine is always better.

      @777jrg Před 2 lety

      When you are polishing you are not supposed to apply pressure anyway.

    No-load speed: 7,500 - 12,000 rpm
    Isn't that too much for car polishing? Specialized polishers have it lower than 3000rpms usually. Anybody knows what's the minimum here "under load"?

  • @SuhasMathavuVasanthsenaGowda

    Bosch GEX 125-1 AE provides a minimum speed of 7000rpm. are you sure you can use such speed for polishing the car body?

    • @izoyt
      @izoyt Před 6 lety +1

      this doesn't look like 7000 rpm to me, but i agree if it is too high. it it nice alternative, i would be more concerns about underpower (i think it's somewhere in 300-400W range).

      7000rpm motor. The disc is orbiting, not spinning. Much less movement.

    I have this at home. It doesn't spin, it vibrates. If it does spin, place your hands on the pad and it'll stop spinning, but the machine will continue to vibrate. I use it to polish my cymbals.

    • @andybussa1323
      @andybussa1323 Před 2 lety +2

      It does both,when polishing with an orbital the idea is to not lean too hard to allow the polisher to spin while also orbiting,if your using this to sand or polish,and it's just vibrating,your using too much pressure between the polisher/sander and the object your using it on,hope this helps

  • @Divocwax
    @Divocwax Před 3 lety +2

    Looks a bit lame. A dedicated dual action polisher is what you are trying to imitate - using a tool meant for sanding timber. It will be too fast. It will stop spinning but continue to make motion similar to a detail sander used for woodwork. If you get enough power to keep it spinning, it will be at too high a speed.

    I have my own unit at home. Have tried this but it’s not satisfying and not effective. Since it does vibrate while rotating, it will not do the polishing well. It will only serves the purpose for sanding. Hopefully nobody will buy this just to polish their cars
