You know the beauty of being in the tier that I am, is that not only do I get my pick but there are so many that I've put on the list or that others have that I love, I've been having a lot of fun with this picks and watchalongs :) Always fun and a good react.
Castle Rock is a city in Washington and an excellent mini series on Hulu, scary! I love old Stephen King movies/mini series. The Stand is fantastic as is The Langoliers, I think they are both free on this platform. Have a great night.
Yeah I know I just goofed the name in the after thoughts 😂. I recently reacted to Skeleton Key so Plummer was still fresh in my mind I guess lol. Also yeah they do look alike older.
I think the person who said this was "Detective vs Aliens" was thinking of the movie _Cast a Deadly Spell_ with Fred Ward from _Tremors_ ...although that movie doesn't have aliens in it either. Seriously, though, I do think that's the movie they were thinking of.
I can clear it up lol chance said he liked Detective vs evil...I said I'll find some Detective vs evil/aliens movies like alien baddies in I Come in Peace or The Borrower. The evil stuff like The First Power.
If they were ever to do a live action Needful Things again I feel like it would work better as maybe a 10 part miniseries…really give us a chance to flesh out a few more characters as well as the town itself (which is kinda a character it its own right). The movie did a good job, but didn’t have to scope to capture how crazy things actually got like they did in the book
Ngl, I can't stand this film, but that's really only because the book is one of my favorites and is a MILLION times better, though Max Von Sydow was an excellent Leland Gaunt. I highly recommend reading the book, if you get a chance. Also, many SK books are situated in or near Castle Rock. There are some interesting locales in the SK universe, but Castle Rock is one of the best.
I thought Castle Rock sounded familiar! Yeah I totally understand being a fan of source material and being let down. Even though I did love this movie but I have no connection to the book. I really wanna see more SK movies now and hopefully one day get into the books!
@@azazello1784for a lot of the same reasons early SK books made for bad film adaptations. It was two very different mediums at the time and it wasn't acceptable to put Kings kind of horror out there as written and expect a successful movie reaction from large audiences. Therefore they always ramped up the hokiness and the over the top directoral choices too far in order to blunt the horror. They never really let characters expand for fear where they might lead. Major characters were omitted or completely changed which always screwed up the pacing and plot. Most of all Hollywood simply could not reproduce the things King came up with through special effects. So again, plots were changed, scenes were cut and others which didn't even exist were shoved into their place, etc. It was just really hard to make a Stephen King horror novel work as a movie. The ones that weren't horror were instant hits (stand by me, Shawshank redemption, the green mile), but it wasn't until the late 90's that they started being able to properly produce SK horror on film.

Good times, sry for the confusion with the alien thing 😂. One of my favorite SK movies.Yo, shout out to Timothy for the editing. Good work man 👍
That’s actually Max Von Sydow, not Christopher Plummer. But they do look similar as they’ve gotten older

When I watched Needful Things for the first time I didn't liked it, but when I watched it again for a second watch I actually enjoyed it.

@@rickp8938 I haven't seen _The Borrower_ since VHS but that was around 15 years ago. _The First Power_ is quite entertaining.
@fluorescentmilkshake did you Chances reaction to The First Power? That was also my pick. It was on my rotation list growing up.
@@rickp8938 I sure did, it makes me want to rewatch the movie too. Wild moments abound.
I love this book, if you have read th book it has so many references. Rose Red is a Stephen King series that I love, but so many good mini series
