    I loved your thoughtful testing procedures and honest conclusions! Great video! Thank you so much. I'm using the Genius 5 for the first time. I want to asses the "repair" function myself on two older batters that I failed to keep properly charged several years, including in harsh and subzero winter temps, "foolish me". When I tested the battery in my car, the meter indicated "completely empty of charge". Since then, it would not completely recharge, but has been been starting my car "so far". We'll see if the Genius 5 can help.

    Here’s an old trick; If your still having no luck, grab some jumper leads and a good battery, connect the jumper leads + to + & - to - then put the battery charger leads on the dead battery, this will trick any charger to believe it’s above 10v and will start charging…✌️

      I don’t know if that will work with a lot of the new chargers. A lot of them have built in protections and will turn off when they are connected backwards.

    Good video, thanks for the information.
    A question, what happens if I charge a 200ah battery with the Noco 5 (battery capacity 120ah)?
    Does it just take longer to load? or does it not charge completely? Thanks

      I think it would just take longer. In theory a 20 amp charger would charge 200 AH battery in 10 hours. I don’t see why it wouldn’t still charge it, it’s just going to take 4 times as long.

    Why the manual says don't leave the noco 5 charger while charging a battery? Exploding ?

    • @CatfishMotorsports
      @CatfishMotorsports  Před 2 měsíci

      Probably just liability boilerplate. It’s meant to switch to a maintenance mode after it’s done charging which is meant to be connected long term

      @@CatfishMotorsports why noco 5 doesn't have float charge ? Weird

    Did you check if the batteries had plenty of distilled water? Even maintenance-free batteries need water to charge.

      One of them. I don’t remember which. Actually resulted in one of the worst scares I’ve had working on car stuff. I tried to do a battery revival with extra distilled water like a year ago.
      When I put the cap back on, it popped and splashed some battery acid directly into my eye. (Wear safety glasses kids). And then it didn’t actually help. Sorta soured me on the whole process lol.

    You may wanna open the garage door while your engine is on.

      The fumes give me special powers……
      The light behind from the open doors in bright daylight messes with the camera. I opened the door when I let it run for a while off camera. I also may have had one of the out of shot doors open even when it was only running for 20-30 seconds.

      They were open off camera. The bright sunlight through the open doors messes up the camera.
