Eczema is a term for a group of medical conditions that cause the skin to become inflamed or irritated. The most common type of eczema is known as atopic dermatitis, or atopic eczema. Atopic refers to a group of diseases with an often inherited tendency to develop other allergic conditions, such as asthma and hay fever.

I started getting eczema when I was a toddler. It became pretty extreme after a while. I remember my mom putting different kinds of creme on my arms, legs and wrists. I remember my skin being teared open, but still so itchy that I just couldn't stop scratching. I even scratched in my sleep. My mom tells me that I used to have it all over my neck pretty badly, I don't remember that.
As I got older it calmed down a bit. In certain circumstances I didn't have eczema at all. Like when I went on a camp or smthng.
Rn I have it very slightly. I'm 17.
I know the areas where it turns up. My left hand (between my thumb and 1st finger all the way to my pinky. My pinky is very prone to eczeam for some reason and then by the side of my hand to my wrist.) the nape of my neck, my right inside elbow and my right eyelid.
What I do is just keeping it moist. I have become so used to everything being itchy, that that's mostly not the problem. I don't scratch it unless it becomes unusually dry. So that's what works for me.
I use a hypoallergenic soap that's supposed to lessen the allergic reaction, No idea whether that works, but it doesn't make it worse lol, for those spots. (I just use a hypoallergenic soap for the rest of my body) then I use an oil to moist it, and afeer that I use a thic moisturizer to put a layer on top of it to protect it.
Seems like a lot 😂, but it works for me
Just some tips that could potentially help any of my fellow eczema sufferers lol.
Oh also, I try to avoid sweating in those places (the inside of my elbow for example) cause that can definitely cause an irritation.
(yea, I even became immune for musquito bites like this lol. Ig I just learned to ignore the itchyness or smthng?)

@@kunjkalra4039 honestly i think stress causes it.
i do have eczema too when i was young and got hospitalized by it for some reason…. it usually gets itchy when i’m irritated by something or feeling nervous (got hospitalized because i was so stressed studying for my exams TT) they had let me drink strong medicine that stops the itches but hurts my back badly that it caused me not to sleep for days !!
What helped me honestly is moisturizing my skin every time its itchy ! It helps with the itch because sometimes it stings when you apply moisturizer.
Also try lessening scratching. have a mindset that no matter how hard you scratch it, the itch wont go away so its a waste of energy. Scratching makes your skin dry and dry skin = itchy skin! Also i didnt eat food that makes your skin itchy/hot like chicken, dairy foods for a while. if it does itch so bad try getting a cold towel and put it on the itchy part!! it works like a charm. Just dry your skin lightly after using the cold towel so it wont get too soft.I hope this helps !!!

It's the same for my pinky too. My pinky had only a scratch or two for ten years. The brand Curél (lotion) helped me a lot, too. Whenever I go to Japan, my eczema gets better because it's moist there, like you said, you keep it moist.

How do you guys all deal with the insults about eczema? Mine is mostly behind my ears (used to be on my nose really bad as well but it went away) and no one really notices, but my sister is really insensitive about it sometimes. She’s not a very empathetic person most times and doesn’t really care how I feel about her comments. She’s gotten better about it, but still only helps me because it disgusts her and she hates how it looks. Any advice?

They made sure to provide scant information about food intolerances that may trigger eczema. That’s because the pharmaceutical industry can’t make money if you treat your eczema by changing your diet. You may have a Delayed reaction to certain ingredients in processed foods. I have never studied in medical school or anything, so please don't take my opinion as a professional point of view. i used to have eczema and I itched it all the time, which caused my skin flake, and it got very dry, but I kept itching. eventually i started bleeding and my doctor gave me a sort of lotion that would help moisturize my skin. since then, I don't remember having dry skin or bleeding. You probably don't have eczema, as you said that your hands and wrists are not itchy, you just get scratches out of nowhere. However you might get your scratches from when you sleep, and you don't notice that you are scratching. There are many different types of eczema, so you might just have a different type than me, but again, I am not a doctor, so I can't tell you whether or not you do indeed have eczema, so you should consult your doctor. I know this is a very long reply, I just wanted to get my full point of view through to you.

I think I’ve had early stages of eczema because my right hand has little bumps or lumps and it got red dots that look like chicken pox but it’s not chicken pox even though it itches but I think I should really go to a doctor so I can have my hands looked at because it could be a kind of allergy to foods or it was caused due to my antidepressants but I don’t know the actual causes of it

My skin around my eye for the past three weeks has started to crack. Also I’m getting dry itchy skin on my neck and face. I’m not sure if it’s eczema since it’s not anywhere else. So what do you guys thinks?

I don't know if its eczema or what. I've got this itchiness behind my ear, earlobe and my lower neck when I had my haircut from a new salon
