    I followed Skynyrd all over the country and England for 4 years. By myself. I was 18 year's old then I'm now 66. I still love em just as much as I did as I was still 19 years old. Lynyrd Skynyrd is MY BAND! YOU WILL NEVER SEE 👀 THAT A AGAIN. THAT MAKE'S ME SAD. THE LONGEST THEY EVER PLAYED FREE BIRD 🐦 WAS IN T TOWN AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA. THEY PLAYED IT FOR 1 HOUR! IT WAS UNREAL!! THEY ALWAYS PLAYED IT FOR US THEY ALWAY'S GAVE EVERYTHING THEY HAD FOR US. THAT'S WHY SKYNYRD FAN'S WILL ALWAY'S LOVE EM MORE! AT LEAST I WILL! SKYNYRD 4 EVER! KEEP FLYIN' HIGH FREE BIRD 🐦!!

    Great southern rock band from the 60's-80's. It is very sad what happened to this band in losing so many members. My favorite songs are "Simple Man", "Free Bird" & "Sweet Home Alabama". They had lots of great songs such as "Call Me The Breeze", "Tuesday's Gone", "That Smell", "The Ballad Of Curtis Loew", "What's Your Name", "Gimme Three Steps", "Saturday Night Special" etc.

    Lynryd Syknyrd rocked and owned the 70's (the loss members was devastating), nothing equaled this song, and it's still the most played song at funerals of those who grew up and lived in that time-revered forever! Thanks for the look back, Luke...giving away my age, but I lived it-and loved it!

    This was Southern rock at it's finest and I'm from the South. I saw them do this at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, NC on July 13, 1974. It was Under the Stars festival. It featured a lineup of ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rare Earth, Leon Russell, Elvin Bishop, and Billy Preston. That was about 12 hours of my life I would not trade for anything! Things were different then and this was the way we did concerts. They were a lot more fun.

      @@GOTGames Your dad brought you up right! Lots of Classic Rock from its greatest decade. I was 12 years old in 1970 and 22 in 1980, so I grew up with this kind of excellence in music. It drove off a cliff and died in the mid-1980s but people actually love this music so much that 72% of all music being sold is now 50 years old! That's right! From the 1970s and backward, with a lot of the great rock and blues from the 1980s and onward being included. I was born in 1960, and one thing I have noticed watching younger people today reacting to the music I grew up with : Yes, they almost all agree that the music was much better back then, and there were a lot of really GOOD groups, but they seem to miss the point that all those good groups, were all IN THE SAME TIME period!! So it wasn't a question of oh, finally, this GOOD group is on tour, let's go see them, but more like, oh boy, these 4 or 5 supergroups are coming this summer, good thing tickets are not more than $20!! I have been to over 30+ concerts, only once did I pay $35, and that was the Amnesty International show, and there were something like 15 or 20 groups. But also imagine in the 70's and early 80's, ALL the albums coming out around the same time. The big groups (Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Who, Yes, etc etc,) all producing the albums still listened to today!! Wow, was my generation ever spoiled!! So many really good bands, just didn't seem as good compared to them big groups. What I think is a shame, is how many shows were NOT recorded?? OMG, some of the things I have seen. Pink Floyd actually finished a show here in Montreal, with freaking fireworks, in a CLOSED (roof) stadium!! All to distract the crowd's attention. They blew JUST under the roof, looked like 10 or 15 meters.....

    Used to think (back in 1977, aged 16) that this was the most amazing guitar solo ever and I probably wore out the cassette tape (that's a 70's audio format that...Google it!) on my cassette deck (ditto...Google it!) by playing it over and over and over. I'm a tad older now and seen a lot of guitar solos since then so it's not quite as amazing as it was - but still a great Rock anthem! But one that will get you kicked out of guitar shops if you try and play it! Oh, and best thing about that crowd - they're all watching the band without even the twinkle of an idea about mobiles and social media.

    • @GOTGames
      @GOTGames  Před 2 lety +2

      😂 I'm not as young and you think I am my friend, I had tapes too.
      I completely agree with what you said about the phones, when I watch a live show now the entire crowd has their phones out and I keep thinking what exactly are you recording? After the gig there will be professional videos of every song online if you wanted to watch them back? Why record yourself?
      Crazy world sometimes 😂🤘🤘

    • @tonygriffin_
      @tonygriffin_ Před 2 lety

      @@GOTGames Only teasing! I didn't think you were that young really. In Japan they essentially ban phones from the concert arenas, which is a great thing to do, I think. I don't think it can be that pleasant seeing thousands of lit up phone screens in front of you when performing. That said, there are artists who basically live their lives through social media so maybe it's pleasing to them, knowing their fans will be posting. As you said, it's a crazy world sometimes!

    The wonderful thing about the Classic Rock era was that the bands could actually play and had something to say. That's why people are voting with their feet and 72% of all music being sold is now from at least 50 years ago. Rap and hip hop is generally not fit for human consumption. Come on you latent rockers and blues artists! Give us both barrels and lets have a resurgence of real music where artists could really play and thrill us to the core!

    Luke, I love your reactions whether it be BTS or Longer Skynyrd. If you're really liking what you're watching it shows, it's like watching a child. Pure and innocent.
    I didn't realize that the majority of the band died on plane crash and Elvis died two months apart. Wow, the music world was rocked to hell in such a short time.💔

      @@GOTGames YES!!! My youngest son (almost 28) went and saw them a couple weeks ago, a sitting out on the lawn type of concert. This is what he sent to me when I asked if he had a great time... (excuse the f-word, lol)
      "Lol, yeah!! I was the drunk bastard yelling FREEBIRD! for the encore. Kind of obnoxious to say the least, but I got the whole area chanting... and they fucking played it!! l felt like a damn Rockstar. They said 'I guess we better play Freebird! Here's to the crazy bastard who started chanting FREEBIRD!!' Mom, that was one of the few really EPIC moments in my life, getting the crowd to convince Lynyrd fuckin Skynyrd to play FREEBIRD for the encore!!"

    Pride of Jacksonville, FL. In the early 90's we would go to a place called Ward's Landing on the intercoastal waterway. They had an outside stage and on Sunday's people would bring their instruments and jam. It wasn't uncommon for Gary Rossington, Billy Powell or Artimus Pyle to be there jamming. Billy Powell was the nicest guy. Tragic that their plane crashed a few months after this performance

    I remember making a multitrack midi of this back in the late 1980s to give a backing for a friend to practice his bottle neck guitar playing. Also used to do multi part midi tracks for my daughter to practice her clarinet with. I miss my Commodore Amiga for doing this 😁🎹🎧🎤🎸

    While I wasn’t there I did see it on tv the same day they had this day in the green. However, my babysitter was there the one you said looked like Gwyneth Paltrow. On a side note it is such a shame we didn’t to get to see the great music and solos that Alan and Steve would have came up with.

    A couple of opinions I have. One is that Lynyrd Skynyrd is the greatest guitar band of all time along with The Eagles, and I believe "Free Bird" to be America's greatest rock song, just like I consider "Stairway to Heaven" England's greatest. Another fun performance from this concert is, of course, "Sweet Home Alabama" - just phenomenal. It's sad to think in just a few months, three of the band members would be dead along with three crew members with the other band members extremely injured from the plane crash. You should check out their great documentary (maybe it's on Netflix) - it's really good and very informative.

    This concert was 10 days before my 18th birthday. My band members chipped in and bought me a ticket and all 5 of us were there in the middle of that mass of humanity. I had a GREAT time and got a helluva sunburn. It was well worth it!! The one thing this video doesn't quite convey is how incredibly LOUD the concert was. The other bands on the bill that day were The Outlaws, Santana and the headliner was Peter Frampton. Great day of music indeed!! FWIW, 2 "better than the studio" version songs are The Midnight Special performances by Elvin Bishop Band (Fooled Around And Fell In Love) and Wild Cherry (Play That Funky Music) Both mid 70's TV show appearances.. I hope your Live Band Excursion's are a complete success. Cheers, RNB

    That Allen Collins 58 Gibson explorer is no reproduction. They made no more than 50 original Explorers. That guitar without the Collins' connection is worth 7 figures. With the Collins' connection? Who knows its value. All I know is those PAFs were turned up and HOT for this solo.

Their album Argus (1972) is the most played album I have, twin lead guitars and some excellent riffs. Link to King will come 1976 czcams.com/video/s0k7YZLD2iI/video.html
