First a local gravel road, then the road 85, with good pavement and light traffic, enjoyed a lot the varied drive. We have also very nice views of the mountains along this trip, thanks for sharing, greetings from a road-tripper from Germany!
There are worse roads than the Pig Root! Plus you could get a McGregprs pie in Palmerston .... What time of year did you film this? Snow on the Hawkduns and Kakanuis!

Autumn this year. Mid May. The Four Square in Palmerston is the chosen stop for a pie!
